Happy New Year to you all. I'm OK. Plodding on.

Private Symathy for cock Djock - you're not going to be on my Christmas card list at this rate Grin.

Off for a walk - it's cold & grey but not raining and although I don't want to go out, I know how much better it makes me feel.

Morning Spidey Smile it’s very cold and icy here as well - can’t tell if it’s snow or just really thick ice - brrr!

I’ve listened to the other aggro podcast now - can’t believe that Kyrgios didn’t get a mention Shock. I might have felt a bit sorry for Djok at the time (he must have only been young) but I think it was a sign of what was to come with him. I do admire your loyalty to him though Grin. That interview was tough (I still don’t feel sorry for him though!)

Fizzywinegum · 06/01/2021 09:14

Hope you enjoy your walk magi - I always feel better when I go for a walk but it is very cold today! Maybe I need a dog and then I would have to go out!

Raahh · 06/01/2021 09:35

Morning all!

I am slowly taking down decorations. I need to walk the dog. I have been up hours, because I was worried that dd1 would not get up and miss her online lessons- it's actually easier physically getting them to school!

I felt sorry for Djok (briefly) for about 5 minutes in 2018 when he was going through his slump. Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 06/01/2021 09:44

Me too Raahh - never again!

magimedi · 09/01/2021 10:01

If you are in the market for some hand sanitiser I'm sure this one will appeal to many of you Grin

VAMOS

Ooh- couldn't sleep last night and read that Ferrer has split from Zverev as his coach. He's not giving much away, says he's very thsnkful for the opportunity to travel with him. It's not personal...

I suppose it's a bad time for coaches to be away from their families and David has a young son. Not good timing for Sascha to be without a coach again- AC will be be back to waffling about 'off court behaviour'.

magimedi · 09/01/2021 11:00

The peice I read about Ferrer said that it was due to travel, corona & a young family. Plus he is director of some big tournament (Barcelona??) & needs time for that.

OP posts:
Raahh · 09/01/2021 11:30

Yes, he did say Barcelona takes up a lot of time. I hope it goes ahead this year- seems so long ago, now, the last one.

It's a shame, Sascha seemed to be turning a corner, and building up a bit of momentuum, despite everything else that was going on. Tricky to find anyone willing to travel at the moment though- but at least he's always had his dad on his team.

I put my back out, taking down the Christmas tree, and it still hurts. I could barely move for two days. I knew I should have just left it up!

Fizzywinegum · 09/01/2021 12:07

That hand sanitiser looks good magi Grin

Hope that Sascha manages to find someone - I can’t imagine him being an easy person to coach but hopefully things will work out for him

Our Christmas tree is outside waiting to be recycled tomorrow - I keep finding needles everywhere - actually I was still finding needles from last years Christmas tree all last year Hmm

It’s still looking a bit uncertain about the Tokyo Olympics going ahead this year - Roger will be gutted if they don’t

It’s nice and sunny here today - an improvement on yesterday’s freezing fog!

JaneJeffer · 09/01/2021 13:07

I want that hand sanitiser!

Our Christmas tree was completely desiccated and it took me forever to clean up all the needles that fell off as soon as I moved it.

That's a shame about Ferrer. I hope Sascha is working on his serve regardless.

I saw Rafa practicing at the academy with tights under his shorts. He'd never stick the weather in these parts!

Raahh · 09/01/2021 13:07

Sad news if the Olympics don't go ahead and yy to Roger being gutted, he has stuck around this long, I'm not sure another year on tour is feasible, even for him. But who knows!

I do get the feeling he is at the point where he wants to spend more time with his family, and packing 4 (older) children up to travel around following dad around the tennis circuit is probably no longer an option.

Raahh · 09/01/2021 13:11

And yy, I need the sanitiser Grin.

Tights under his shortsGrin. Reminds me of Azarenka on that first day of the French Open, when she was bundled up for the Arctic, and complaining it was too cold to play. Then walked off.Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 09/01/2021 13:14

I saw that it had snowed in Spain but not sure if it got as far as Mallorca! Yes Rafa is a bit nesh - he wouldn’t be able to cope with our Yorkshire temperatures Grin

Raahh · 09/01/2021 13:16

I have an artificial tree- it is now 24 years old. So I think I have offset the carbon footprint doo-dah Grin. My mother and I both moved to new houses in the same year, and bought the same ones. They were £50 at the time, and it seemed really expensive (it is 7ft).

Mine fell apart about 5 years ago, so it hadn't done badly, and she gave me hers, as she wanted a smaller one. But it loses so many bits every year- I would love to know how bushy it used to be, because it must lose a branch worth of 'needles' every year!

JaneJeffer · 09/01/2021 13:17

Oh yes Raahh I had forgotten about Azarenka Grin

Raahh · 09/01/2021 20:13

Jane I remember thinking wtf at the time, but also - you go girl!Grin. It was all very surreal. A lesser player would not have got away with it, but she was right that the conditions were really not great that day. (Maybe she overdid the extra clothingGrin).
It seems quite a long time ago now- and it was the week I was getting DD2 ready for surgery, which feels odd now too.

JaneJeffer · 10/01/2021 11:54

I saw these shoes and all my tennis addled brain could think was Pat Cash Grin

Grin

Great shoes Grin.
It's funny the things we think of, isn't it?

JaneJeffer · 10/01/2021 12:06

They look very comfy but I'm sitting here in my crocs (don't tell on S&B) Grin

Raahh · 10/01/2021 12:21
Grin

I always say I will get crocs, just for the practical side of being able to just chuck something on easily if I go in the garden quickly, or the dog goes out. I usually end up putting dh's on- bearing in mind, I have size 2 feet, and his shoes are an 11- well, I'm just grateful no-one ever pays attention to me taking the rubbish out Grin.

PrivateSpidey · 11/01/2021 18:54
Grin

I also think that about Crocs Raahh - definitely need to get some!!

The Pat Cash shoes are great Grin

I see AO qualifying has started - but Ernie has been knocked out Sad

Raahh · 11/01/2021 19:10

Poor ErnieSad

In the circumstances, it's even worse to lose in qualifying, after, I assume, they have had to quarantine.

After today's (very wearying) 'home school' effort- I am very concerned I will not get to watch any tennis, the amount of input that seems to be required from me. Sad. That will make me cross. Bloody pandemics.

Raahh · 11/01/2021 19:11

(Only cross because it's about the only thing to look forward in all of this rubbish. Even Doctors is off the air againGrin).

PrivateSpidey · 11/01/2021 19:36

Oh no Raahh - sorry to hear about Doctors!!

Yes I feel for anyone who loses in the qualifiers, especially as there probably aren't many (any??) alternative tournaments to enter atm.
