I've just been reading that Delpo is having a 4th surgery on his knee this week- he is really hoping to be fit for Tokyo. He has had such horrible luck with injuries, and that last injury to his knee was such a bad one- and he was in great form at the time, too. Playing well, back up the rankings. So sad. Sad.

PrivateSpidey · 23/03/2021 23:24

Raahh I saw that as well Sad I really hope he can have the comeback he wants. He was playing really well before that injury as you say, I think he got to 3 in the rankings iirc after the US Open final??

Would be great if he could play in Tokyo, fingers crossed.

magimedi · 24/03/2021 09:20

Sad to see that Andy has a groin injury & has withdrawn from Miami. I do wonder if he'll ever play again. If he doesn't (and I so hope he does) it will be interestingto see what he decides to do next.

Private he was really doing so well until that horrible fall- and qualified for London. It's so sad.

It's a shame about Murray too- and I do wonder how much longer he will continue to 'come back'. He has 4 very young children now. His priorities might change. I'm sure the passion is still there- but his body is refusing to give him a break.

Fizzywinegum · 24/03/2021 13:15

That is really sad about Delpo and Andy Sad - I also wonder how much longer Murray will carry on especially with travelling becoming more difficult and his family commitments (although he might want a bit of an escape from those four children!)

Raahh · 24/03/2021 13:35

Fizzy GrinI did think when I saw he was going to Miami - 'at least he will get some sleep' Grin.

selondongal · 25/03/2021 00:29

Yes I'm missing Andy Murray from the tours, it's not the same without him.

Raahh · 25/03/2021 13:36

Now StanBear is out of action due to surgery on his foot.

Fizzywinegum · 25/03/2021 14:22

Oh no poor Stan!

Andy Murray’s done an interview for Amazon Prime where he says he thinks he could still win Wimbledon. I’ve not seen the interview yet - I suppose it’s good that he still thinks that but somehow I can’t see it happening Sad

kazzaD66 · 25/03/2021 15:00

Yes, I've just seen Stan's insta post from his hospital bed. Someone needs to send him a Bear Grin

It's also a shame about Andy and a bit odd as to how he got the injury aswell Confused

Here's hoping they both make good recoveries.

PrivateSpidey · 25/03/2021 22:11

Poor Stan, yes hopefully someone sends him a bear!!

I saw Andy's interview on Prime, he seemed v positive about his comeback overall. I can't remember what else they asked him now (even though I only watched it last night Hmm) I think something about whether the game had changed while he was away, that kind of thing.

JaneJeffer · 25/03/2021 23:38

There's currently a thread about emojis and some querying of Bear. We all know what it's for.

Raahh · 27/03/2021 10:14

Been doing a bit of score checking- Daniil made a good start- but Dan Evans (who I thought, in the absence of so many stood a good chance this week) has gone out to Tiafoe, but that was as tough match up. Tiafoe is a tricky player. He hasn't quite made the step up to the 'big time' but keeps showing glimpses that he can really beat the best. I like watching him play. Shame about Dan- I am warming to him in my old age (might be a vaccine side effect , eh KazzaGrin).

Raahh · 27/03/2021 13:01

Interesting- (well I think so Grin)- looking ahead at the schedule, to see how the clay tournaments are panning out, and after Monte Carlo, Barcelona is listed. Which is good. The same week, and presumably a new tournament, there is a listing for Belgrade.

And Thiem is playing there (along with Djok, obviously), rather than against Rafa in Barcelona...

JaneJeffer · 27/03/2021 13:05

That is interesting!

Fizzywinegum · 27/03/2021 13:15

That is interesting Raahh - can’t wait for the clay season - I’m happy for Djok to be in Belgrade!

I had my first Covid vaccine yesterday - it was a bit of a strange experience sitting in a parish hall with about 50 other people all wearing masks and sitting on socially distanced chairs before being beckoned over to get jabbed - it all felt a bit Handmaids Tale Hmm

So far no strange side effects - I don’t mind Dan Evans anyway - if I start liking Djok then I’ll be worried Grin

Fizzywinegum · 27/03/2021 13:19

I also see that Medvedev has grown a moustache - he says he did it for fun (not sure what my excuse is Grin)

JaneJeffer · 27/03/2021 13:28

It's not fair. Why can't women say that too?

Raahh · 27/03/2021 14:51

I'm more than happy for Djok to be in Belgrade. No doubt maskless, and the stadium packed to the rafters with spectators Hmm. Deja vu, anyone?
If I start to like him, after my second vaccine dose, I will start to worry Grin.

Daniil's moustache Grin. Not sure what my excuse for growing one is. Or the really annoying chin hairs. Had those for years though. Although they are white now, rather than black. I'm such a catch

OMG- I'm turning into Shaggy Grin.

kazzaD66 · 27/03/2021 15:57

You and me both Raahh Blush
Glad to hear you're warming to Dan (whatever the reason!). It would be good if he could start to win the odd match, though! He has had some tough draws this year but he's going to drop out of the top 30 unless he gets his act together quickly.

Fizzywinegum · 27/03/2021 18:36

I’m actually watching some tennis! Cilic v Garin - the weather looks nice in Miami and Garin’s shorts are quite tight (he’s got very muscular thighs)
