Tennis - waiting for Australian Open

I really hope the French Open can go ahead at the right time- though it will be really odd, being about 9/10 months after the last one- and before we even get to another Wimbledon.

I do hope MC goes ahead- it's one of my favourites (not just because Rafa usually does ok there), but I love the scenery.

I suppose there might be the opportunity to put IW in later in the year- maybe during the hard court swing- Rogers Cup/Cincy/US open. Though I can't remember what date the Olympics is meant to be. I know it was supposed to be July/ August this year (my memory tells me the closing ceremony would have been Fed's birthday ).

We were going to brave the Trafford Centre (my gran- despite my mum trying very hard to dissuade her - got us vouchers again)-but for various reasons I think we will give it a miss. We have a trip to the tip planned .

Last year, I had a terrible NYE- everyone was in bed by now (ds was out) and I was a sobbing mess at this point. I was asleep before midnight. I usually am. DD2 is still up with me tonight- which is kind of nice. She had a bad night last night, which I think is why she doesn't want to go to bed. But I don't mind. It's been a strange year.

We saw the NY in with a mixture of Jools Holland and Alicia Keys, plus the London fireworks/drone light show.

I see that Andy has now decided not to play Delray Beach because he doesn't want to risk not being able to go to Australia. Dan isn't playing either. I think he was runner up last year. I'm guessing ranking points are still in limbo, otherwise he's losing points there?

Re- the ranking points, I think Del Ray beach, because of when it fell in the year, is like the Australian open- the points won't drop until 2022.

But (just to make you realise how fast the years are going )- I think Dan was runner up in 2019. I know Opelka won last year- so I don't think Dan has anything to defend anyway.

I need to walk the dog. I feel very sluggish and meh today. At least the snow has ,melted a bit .

Happy New Year everyone. I began the year by scalding my thumb with boiling water. Start as you mean to go on. It's a beautiful day here but I'm still in my dressing gown watching the darts. Classy.

The ATP cup started on this date last year- odd tournament, but at least it was tennis, and gave me something to focus on in the post-Christmas slump.

It was also really mild weather wise- just constant rain. This morning I took the dog to the park and the pond was completely frozen.

I'm trying to motivate myself to do something useful- but the temptation to just sit here doing nothing is too strong.

I've done loads today but now I'm knackered and I need to finish dinner. The endless football continues.
