New ’un.

Whose turn on the storyline merry-go-round will it be this week?

OP posts:
HesterLee · 07/12/2020 22:50

I watched the 60 years programme after tonight's episode. I completely forgot that Peter and Carla had married before. Did he cheat on her on their wedding night and if so, who with? Or did I dream that?

Housewife2010 · 07/12/2020 22:55

Didn't Carla get drunk on their wedding night & he slept with Tina?

HesterLee · 07/12/2020 22:59

Oooh was it the beginning of the Tina affair?
Gosh that seems like a really long time ago now.

JamieLeeCurtains · 07/12/2020 23:02

It said Steve had been married 7 times.
Vicky
Karen
Becky
Michelle
Tracy
Tracy

Who else?

DipSwimSwoosh · 07/12/2020 23:06

Have just watched the first half of tonight's. What is this brewery they keep speaking of. There is no brewery on Coronation Street is there?

Honeyroar · 07/12/2020 23:06

He married Katen twice too, according to Google.

PhoebeSnow · 07/12/2020 23:08

Steve married Karen twice

Honeyroar · 07/12/2020 23:10

Karen, not Katen!! Bloody autocorrect doesn’t even pick a real name.

Thesearmsofmine · 07/12/2020 23:13

I thought tonight was fab! I’m curious to see what happens with Geoff now.

VanGoghsDog · 07/12/2020 23:21

@Pebbledashery

I'm still baffled he was able to represent Yasmeen. I thought legal professionals were not able to represent friends and family???
They can.

Also - solicitors don't train to be barristers. Or extremely rarely. Why would they want to go backwards and do a pupilage whilst being paid about £20k?

Does anyone know anyone in real life who's been married seven times? Or who has married the same person twice, twice? Bonkers, isn't it?

Hands up who'd be happy to be someone's seventh wife? Even if you had also been the sixth......

VanGoghsDog · 07/12/2020 23:25

I thought Imran was just a solicitor, (Not sure of his speciality. Perhaps litigation?) Could he just step into a barrister role? I understood barrister training to be different altogether.

It is a totally different role. But in fact anyone can represent you with the court's permission, or if they have a license. Or be a Mackenzie Friend (this wasn't Imran's role).

JamieLeeCurtains · 07/12/2020 23:29

Imran has a special frock.

Is he supposed to have rights of audience?

Nuttalls Brewery, at the end of the street (junction with Victoria Street I think?) You can see the gates in wide shots quite regularly, but the only time I remember it actively being featured in a storyline is when Jack and Vera took over the Rovers and they tried to persuade Jack to switch from Newton and Ridley.

If you did know someone who had been married several times you’d not bother going to the wedding, would you! I don’t know anyone, as an adult, who’s had that many birthday parties.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 07/12/2020 23:53

I know someone who married husband 1 and had a DD. Then they divorced and she married husband 2 and had a son. Then they divorced and she remarried husband 1 and had another DD.

HollywoodTease · 08/12/2020 00:44

My DH married his first wife twice. Married, had DS1, divorced. Got back together, had DS2, married again. Then divorced again. All long before I met him though.

SendHelp30 · 08/12/2020 08:00

My parents split up, divorced, spent 4 years apart then got back together. They re-married on what would’ve been their 25th wedding anniversary.

TheRogueApostrophe · 08/12/2020 09:02

I'm no fan of Ken but it was nice to see him and Rita back ❤️

I'm so pleased that Yasmeen is pushing forward with charges against Geoff.

Roussette · 08/12/2020 09:05

Yes me too on Yasmeen. This will be coercive control I presume?

Geoff is just going to hang around like a bad smell isn't he? Although he was ringing 'cant remember name' and saying let's go off to Cyprus wasn't he...

Housewife2010 · 08/12/2020 09:29

I think Steve and Karen married as a bet the first time. The second time was for love. I think it took two attempts for him to marry Becky. I think she was arrested at the first wedding. Also there was a spin off mini series of Steve seeing Vicky in Brighton. I think they were planning to marry again until she saw sense. These are all vague memories of 40+ years of Coronation Street watching! There were also a lot of cancelled at the altar Coronation Street weddings.

JamieLeeCurtains · 08/12/2020 09:49

And those mortality statistics! Not to mention the hatches and matches ...

So Steve's marriages (thanks for participating, pp!) are:

Vicky (and nearly Vicky again)
Karen
Karen
Becky (two attempts)
Michelle (1 child, Ruairi, very sad story)
Tracy (1 child)
Tracy
Steve also has a daughter with Fiona, who amazingly didn't marry him; and with Leanne (poor little Oliver) who had her own bewildering marriage/relationship sagas going on with the multi-nuptualled Peter and Nick, occasionally pierced by a member of the Connor clan.

Housewife2010 · 08/12/2020 09:58

Fiona nearly married the creepy policeman Alan but he jilted her at the altar when he realised she'd slept with Jim.

Oh dear God in heaven, I'd forgotten that 😳

And to think this programme started off as a reflection of the everyday lives of everyday folk . . .

(Though maybe it still is. I don't know how young 'uns go on these days . . . )
