New ’un.

Whose turn on the storyline merry-go-round will it be this week?

I also have been left unmoved by the Oliver storyline. And it seems to have been so rushed at the end - switch machine off, funeral a couple of days later. Done. It might have been better to leave the family grieving (unseen) and then have the funeral a bit later. Given Leanne a chance to get past the "anger" phase which really ruins the whole thing.

yourhair good theory

Thesearmsofmine · 05/12/2020 10:06

The man who plays Geoff is such a brilliant actor, I almost cannot stand watching him. I think Yasmeen has been excellent too and Imran, the way Yasmeen talked about the abuse was so upsetting.
I’m interested to see what will happen to Geoff after the case, will there be a case against him? Or will he just leave the street?

I agree with PP, Oliver’s ceremony should have been moving but it just didn’t work, I guess it’s hard to do with distancing in place, irl people who lived together would be able to comfort each other and they can’t do that.

I couldn’t care less about the whole development storyline, I just don’t see the point in it.

Smallsteps88 · 05/12/2020 10:15

I bet people are horrible to Geoff actor in the street.

It's hard to invest in a storyline that you know isn't going to go anywhere!

user1471479662 · 05/12/2020 10:50

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned before, but do we know for sure that Geoff is divorced from Elaine? If he’s not, then not only has he committed perjury but he won’t be entitled to half her assets.
Didn’t Geoff and Yasmin get married in Las Vegas?

eddiemairswife · 05/12/2020 11:43

Didn't someone turn up claiming to be Tim's wife from Las Vegas? And didn't she get a job at The Rovers? Or have I imagined that?

TheRogueApostrophe · 05/12/2020 12:17

You didn't imagine it, but I can't remember how it was all wrapped up. I presume it was, though, because Sally and Tim were able to legally get married recently. She must have agreed to a divorce?

I wondering how they are going to drop this stupid story. He has already bought up half the street. The characters can't all live there indefinitely It's so far fetched
Smallsteps88 · 05/12/2020 12:20

I think Tim’s Las Vegas wife wanted money to give him a divorce (£5k?) but I think she agreed to divorce without the money in the end. It was a stupid storyline (on Corrie? I know- you’re shocked Wink) that I think they realised half way through and decided to wrap up quickly.

I did wonder if they made it the ‘new’ side of the street to keep it slightly more ambiguous. We all know there’s zero chance of them demolishing the cobbles and terraces, but it’s not completely impossible they’d do it to the new houses - after all, they completely redeveloped that side of the street once before.

The only problem is, we know they spent millions on a new set only a few years ago GrinGrinGrin

Did anyone notice the blasphemous ugly black tarmac patches on the cobbles outside the Victoria gardens last night? Shock

NCTDN · 05/12/2020 15:46

I found the memorial unmoving but think Steve had been brilliant through this. How you can do that storyline when you've experienced loss of a child in real life is beyond me.

Smallsteps88 · 05/12/2020 15:50

Twice! He’s done this story twice. I don’t know why the writers have done that to him. The poor man.

MsMiaWallace · 06/12/2020 09:06

I think Yasmeen & Geoff have been great actors throughout all of this.

For the actor playing Yasmeen to play this role as a victim of abuse from a man when she is actually a lesbian in real life is bloody good.
& the actor playing Geoff who is apparently a complete gent in real life!!

desperatehousewife21 · 07/12/2020 06:54

Sarah blurted out about Carla’s one night stand and Peter overheard, did he confront Carla about it? I know they were both in the back of the pub but then I missed if he said anything to her.

TheRogueApostrophe · 07/12/2020 07:47

I don't think he confronted her, unless I missed it! I imagine it will be dragged out for a while, yet!

Smallsteps88 · 07/12/2020 08:23

He did ask her what Sarah was talking about but Carla told him he knew everything and had to stop questioning her.

Roussette · 07/12/2020 08:58

I'm just watching BBC news and they are talking about the 60th anniversary of Corrie.
Apparently last year one of the ideas pitched for a storyline was a pandemic emanating out of Tyrone's pigeon loft, and they're very glad they didn't run with it, given what's happening! Shock

Also they are talking about the 60th anniversary is this Wednesday and this week will focus on Yasmeen and Geoff.

Don't think that's a spoiler as we sort of know this given they are in court at the moment!

Smallsteps88 · 07/12/2020 09:03

I remember the 50th anniversary where they did the live episode. That was so good. This anniversary, crisis on the cobbles, Ray knocking down the houses is just so disappointing in comparison. I know they were restricted by COVID but they really have just given up.

JamieLeeCurtains · 07/12/2020 10:55

I didn't even watch on Friday. I feel like I'm letting Ian Bartholomew down!

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 07/12/2020 12:21

Just watching Fridays now. Doesn't it make you wonder how lawyers can live with themselves, Geoff lawyer must absolutely know that he's a sick fucker and she was still nastily interrogating Yasmeen like that. I know on this instance it's not real but this is what goes on.

Smallsteps88 · 07/12/2020 12:24

The thing that pisses me off is she isn’t even Geoff’s (that autocorrects to “goofs” Grin) lawyer! She’s the CPS lawyer. She isn’t acting for Geoff at all. Or rather, she shouldn’t be!

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 07/12/2020 12:35

Oh right! I didn't realise! She's such a hard faced bitch!

Smallsteps88 · 07/12/2020 12:47

Yes you’d be forgiven for thinking she is Geoffs solicitor as she really is being so spiteful.
