Anyone else getting excited? The Diana trailer looks great. It's on Netflix on 15th November.

I am Grin
I love The Crown. I think they have picked brilliant actors/actresses.

Housewife2010 · 14/10/2020 09:38

My favourite is Prince Charles. I think he's perfectly cast. I still don't like Olivia Colman as a grumpy Queen though. Claire Foy was excellent.

Absolutely love The Crown can't wait for the new series with the Diana and Charles storyline and Gillian Anderson looks great as Margaret Thatcher

minou123 · 14/10/2020 10:08

I love Helena Bohnem Carter (have I spelt that correctly?) as Princess Margaret.

Krook · 14/10/2020 10:14

Can't wait! I love Olivia Colman but I think she is mis-cast in this. Still looking forward to it though.

Artforartssake · 14/10/2020 10:22

Agree the actor playing Prince Charles is brilliant. I am slightly worried about the portrayal of Di though. I've never seen an actor get her "right" yet but the films have always been shite B-movies to be fair, or American. It will be interesting seeing how a British written and directed "serious" production approaches it.

Checking in early.

I just re-watched 1-3 over the last fortnight. Can't wait!

I'm listening to HRH Margaret on an old Desert Island Discs and as I hear her talk I just see Helena Bonham Carter talking.

I'm really looking forward to it. I watched the first three series whilst I was isolating with coronavirus earlier in the summer and it's what saw me through!!

IdblowJonSnow · 01/11/2020 02:46

Loved the first two seasons, the third much less so.
Looking forward to the Diana era, one of my first longer memories is of a local street party on their wedding day.

nevermorelenore · 02/11/2020 02:38

Am really looking forward to this. Not keen on Olivia Coleman or HBC in their roles, but casting has been spot on for the rest.

Agree that they rarely get Diana right. I tried to watch the God awful Diana movie a while back and she gets played like a wide eyed Bambi-type. It'll be interesting to see what this new actor brings to the role.

Taytocrisps · 12/11/2020 09:50

I was wondering if there was a thread. Three days to go! Do you think the series will be available first thing on Sunday morning or will it appear at some stage during the day? I was seven when series 4 starts (1979) so I'm really looking forward to watching the re-enactment of events that I can remember. I've thoroughly enjoyed it up to now but this will add an extra dimension to it. I much preferred the earlier actresses (Claire Foy as the Queen and Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret). I'm very curious about how Emma Corrin and Gillian Anderson portray Princess Diana and Margaret Thatcher respectively. Oh and isn't Gillian Anderson a very strange choice for Margaret Thatcher? I'd never have imagined that she'd be cast in the role.

JamminDoughnuts · 12/11/2020 09:56

it has had a good write up, particularly Diana.

MrsGrindah · 12/11/2020 12:16

In some of the promotional photos they have got Di looking just right but in others they look like those trashy US made for Tv films. However, I saw a clip yesterday and heard “Diana” speak and it was uncanny.

RuffleCrow · 12/11/2020 12:26

Hilarious that some people dislike the Queen looking grumpy! That was the first thing I ever noticed about her when I was a kid in the 80s: this immensely rich woman in her opulant golden carriage permanently looking like a bulldog chewing a wasp! I remember asking my mum and dad about it. And the rbf has only worsened with age.

I love Olivia Colman but took a few episodes of season 3 to see her as HM. I think the main problem is she is far more empathic and expressive than her character and has to work pretty hard to reign that side of herself in. She managed it though.

southeastdweller · 12/11/2020 21:24

Looking forward to this very much. I felt season 3 was a bit bumpy compared to the first two seasons but the reviews so far for season 4 have been great.

Smashedavacado · 13/11/2020 21:22

Just seen that the series 4 will be released at 8am on Sunday. I feel a day of binge watching coming along - hoping for terrible weather to justify staying in all day. I know someone who had a small part in episode 7 but need to resist the temptation to skip to that one.

Catsup · 14/11/2020 00:42

I'm very much looking forward to Sunday! It's just so fascinating and well done. I'm torn between watching season 4 straight off, or reliving the joy of seasons 1-3 again first and saving it to relish after 😳.

BitOfFun · 14/11/2020 19:52

I can't wait- it's been ages since Sunday night had anything worth watching.

southeastdweller · 14/11/2020 20:09

I've just read that the luscious Tom Burke is in this season and I can't be more excited!

blodynmawr · 14/11/2020 20:41

Marking place.
Cannot wait Smile

Brot64 · 14/11/2020 23:10

Just watched another trailer on their Instagram this evening! I cannot wait. Why can't tomorrow mean from midnight UK time?Smile

I have someone in episode 9 and 10. Not a small role as such but doesn't feature for long periods.

Can't wait!

You've missed Roadkill then? Also northern lights? I'm.looking forward to it too but none of my family will watch it :(
