Anyone else getting excited? The Diana trailer looks great. It's on Netflix on 15th November.

Soooooo excited to see it's on. I cant decide whether to binge watch it all today or not to watch it until Christmas

pinkpixie83 · 15/11/2020 09:03

I have a question... I've watched some of the first series but then struggled, do I need to have watched all to start this new series?

southeastdweller · 15/11/2020 09:06

No, I don't think so.

LondonlovesLola · 15/11/2020 09:08

I’m binge watching it all today 😅

Janaih · 15/11/2020 09:12

Watching tonight when dh gets in from work, so excited!

I think claire foy did such a sterling job that Olivia Coleman had an impossible task to follow it.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 15/11/2020 09:21

Loved the first two series, series 3 less so, not sure why. Hope I love series 4!

Brot64 · 15/11/2020 09:21

I am already on episode 2 and it looks like I will be binge watching it. So far nothing spectacular but love Gillian playing Thatcher.

Figgygal · 15/11/2020 09:24

I’m thinking of taking a day off work this week to crack on through it
Sad I know but the kids and Husband are otherwise around

southeastdweller · 15/11/2020 09:36

I've already watched the first episode - wonderful TV. The assassination of Lord Mountbatten was powerfully evoked. Such a senseless killing and I didn't realise until today that two teenagers were also killed in that boat with Mountbatten.

@BitOfFun

I can't wait- it's been ages since Sunday night had anything worth watching.
For the love of GOD, yes this.

I think Julian Fellows should be ordered to make some frothy something or other to get us through this.

CoronaIsWatching · 15/11/2020 10:28

I watched the first episode. Josh O'Connor is far too good looking to play Charles imo

Dogneedsbrushing · 15/11/2020 10:34

Placemarking ! I feel that we don’t have to worry about spoilers with The Crown!

LondonlovesLola · 15/11/2020 10:42

Charles was really good looking when he was younger but he had a terrible hairstyle and unfortunate manner. Both totally overshadowed everything else.

Placemarking. I binge-rewatched the last three episodes of season 3 on Friday night to get me up to speed on the Camilla situation.

Shouted “Is nobody going to mention the time he sold out his “beloved” country out to the literal Nazis!!!!” at the screen all over again watching the episodes with Edward VIII’s death.

shartsi · 15/11/2020 11:01

I have watched the first episode of the new season. It's good but my god what a dysfunctional family!

WotWouldCJDo · 15/11/2020 11:05

I suspect Mountbatten's death was not as merciful as portrayed by Phillip in episode 1.

Libertylee · 15/11/2020 11:06

On episode 3, Good so far- loving Thatcher is brilliant, Charles not coming across well.

wizzbangfizz · 15/11/2020 11:18

Can't wait going to sort out a few jobs then crack on. Apparently Prince Charles very upset about his portrayal and it's potential
Impact on the monarchy itself as people around the world will take the depiction as fact not fiction.

WotWouldCJDo · 15/11/2020 11:20

I'm trying to pace myself.

I'm afraid I must say that Colman is miscast. I think she's great and I think her work is great, but this isn't the role for her.

I thought that the portrayal of The Troubles was balanced and well done. I wonder what American audiences make of it all. The US always seemed pretty pro-terrorism until 9-11.

WotWouldCJDo · 15/11/2020 11:23

God, I've worded that terribly.

Flaunch · 15/11/2020 11:27

On S2. Gillian Anderson is absolutely magnificent!

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 15/11/2020 11:29

Grrr does Gillian Anderson hardly move her mouth when she speaks in every part she plays? That was the biggest thing that annoyed me about her in the fall!

IcedPurple · 15/11/2020 11:37

Colman is frankly horrible in the role. I'm shocked at how bad she is. She looks completely ill at ease and does not portray the inscrutability of the queen, as Claire Foy did so well. The accent sounds really contrived too, whereas Claire had it down to perfection - it was uncanny listening to her.

I wish they had kept the original cast for the 3rd series at least. I suppose the good thing is that the queen isn't as central to series 3 and 4 as she was to the first 2.

Thepilotlightsgoneout · 15/11/2020 11:50

Season 3 was disappointing, I didn’t like the cast change and I thought quite a few episodes were really boring.

Getting into the Diana years is difficult I think. It’s too recent, the people involved are still alive, and their children, so it all becomes a bit tabloid and trashy.

Might just rewatch the classy and elegant seasons 1 and 2.

Kit19 · 15/11/2020 11:56

Yes I feel that too Pilot, most of the ppl involved are alive including her children. It’s going to drag up a whole ton of really painful stuff - it just feels a bit nauseating
