Apologies if there is already a thread but I missed it? Been watching since episode 2 and always adore it... did I miss something in episode 1 about change of presenters? Is this just because it is previous contenders or is it permanent? I miss George et al. Loving seeing all the old faces though! Thanks

Unfortunately I hate I'm mad me Poh with the fiery hatred of a thousand suns, a level of hatred previously only reserved for Gregg Wallace

I’m so with you, she drives me crazy with her oh so ditzy demeanour. I like Jess now she’s stopped with the “youngest competitor ever” chat.

XiCi · 20/09/2020 21:21

Friday was so sad and then no cuddles pushed me over the edge
Oh god, me too. I actually cried at Fridays elimination. I dont really get the Poh hate though the leaving everything to the last second does get a bit wearing. Sarah T and Brendan are my current faves.

HumousWhereTheHeartIs · 23/09/2020 09:15

I can't bear Poh. She seems really cocky but covers it up by seeming laid back....and she never thanked lovely Jess for bringing her equipment last week.
Am I the only one who wants Jess and Brendan to fall in love and live happily ever after?

IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp · 23/09/2020 10:04

Ha, I originally wanted Jess and Reynold to fall in love (and start a gigantic cake shop empire) but I changed my mind this series, and also want Jess and Brendan to fall in love and live happily ever after!

On that note I have a feeling Laura and Emilia might be a little in love - there is a lot of "love you Meelsy" "love you too Lozza" (even more than the others) and they seem to look and smile at each other all the time in quite a loving way. I hate Laura but it's quite sweet.

And on that note STOP WITH THE CUTESY NICKNAMES. Half the time they are the same number of syllables so not even a shortening! They just add a -ey or an -o and an -a on the end. (Apologies if this is a popular Australian custom which everyone enjoys and finds endearing and I'm just a grumpy old witch today Wink)

AiryFairy1 · 23/09/2020 11:20

Oh Jess and Brendan would be awesome together! I’d be at their house every day for endless bowls of noodles, dumplings, and desserts 🤩

And LOL at the cutesy nicknames! I think it is an endearing Aussie thing which I quite like - there’s no name safe from nicknaming! Even Poh has become Poh Poh Grin

YettaTessieMarmelstein · 23/09/2020 20:06

Another anti-Poh vote here. She is such an attention seeker. Ugh.
I was Googling Jock a few days ago to try to find out his real name (It’s Barry....no one in Scotland is called Jock!) and I SAW THE WINNER! Help!

XiCi · 23/09/2020 20:21

Oh god YettaTessieMarmelstein I'd be gutted. I've been stung before by googling innocuous things. Hate it.

XiCi · 23/09/2020 20:23

And Barry! Grin Grin.

StartupRepair · 23/09/2020 21:31

Barry! Did not know that. Bad luck re seeing the winner.
As I said we were watching this during the dark days of the first wave. Got to the point that I loved them all so much I wanted them all to forget the competition and just keep cooking together on TV.

Dontlickthetrolley · 23/09/2020 21:56

Loving Barry, he reminds me of my sons year 3 teacher!!!

dalrympy · 23/09/2020 23:05

I've found my people! Bloody love MCA.
The nicknames are soooo Aussie. Specially adding -o.

Love Weeeeese. Love jock (Barry! 😳)

StartupRepair · 24/09/2020 02:38

Jess is like a ray of sunshine. We used to feel the butterflies in the garden practically landed on her like a Disney Princess attracting birds and little animals.

GrandTheftWalrus · 24/09/2020 21:20

I'm watching the "heats" im assuming from now till end it'll all be in the kitchen rather than outside challenges?

iusedtoloveopalfruits1 · 26/09/2020 12:11

Very happy with last night’s elimination. Did not like that person at all Smile

HeronLanyon · 26/09/2020 12:16

I want to extend a massive thanks for everyone’s cate re spoilers. Not even sure why I looked at the thread as I’m a good few weeks behind.
Wanted to say I too like the judges and was so shocked at the loss of the ex judges.
Also want to say how much I loathe the opening credits - both visuals and song - I honestly don’t know how I ever started watching this way back season 1 with that as an opener. Makes me want to hurl something at tv every time I don’t get to the fast forward quick enough.

XiCi · 26/09/2020 12:51

Yes definitely wanted that person to go from the 4 that were up. No tears this week Smile

Dontlickthetrolley · 26/09/2020 18:26

Another one happy with lasts nights decision, although when you saw what was plated up, it wouldn't have been a difficult one!

midsomermurderess · 26/09/2020 19:24

Barry? He was a heroin addict for many years.

GrandTheftWalrus · 26/09/2020 21:34

Was he?

midsomermurderess · 27/09/2020 07:36

When he finally moved permanently to Australia he kicked it, but yes, for years he had a heroine addiction. I thinks it's extraordinary how he has turned his life around, and all he does for the indigenous community too. He's an impressive man.

IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp · 27/09/2020 10:15

Oh the last elimination was painful, I actually quite liked the eliminated person so looking at what they cooked made me feel awful for them (how could you fuck something like that up so badly ShockGrin)

I don't know why but I felt a bit sad to learn Jock's real name is actually Barry Grin

This is an interesting read (and from a couple of years ago so no spoilers). I think this must be why this year especially they are using a lot of indigenous ingredients on the hibachi

XiCi · 27/09/2020 10:36

I cant get into that article but loved the story of him basically turning up on Marco pierre whites doorstep and Marco giving him a job despite him being an addict and his previous employer saying he was a waster and not to bother with him. I think that was the turning point in his life.

StartupRepair · 27/09/2020 12:38

Don't know if this will work but this is Jock's completely fabulous house which he sold a couple of months ago. www.domain.com.au/summertown-sa-5141-2015962523

IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp · 27/09/2020 13:43

Thank you @StartupRepair - the only thing better than looking at peoples houses online is looking at celebrities houses online Grin I miss the Lloyd Grossman through the keyhole show, and I so wish they would show the original Masterchefs with LG too.

"This is Felicity from Epsom and she likes bell ringing in her local church when she isn't yachting or grooming her much loved pony, Jasper"

PS Apologies to anyone called Felicity or anyone who has any of those hobbies really I'm just jealous Wink

YettaTessieMarmelstein · 27/09/2020 16:47

I really dislike the person who was eliminated most recently so glad they left. In their original series, they snapped angrily at another older, female contestant. It was aggressive and not nice.
