Apologies if there is already a thread but I missed it? Been watching since episode 2 and always adore it... did I miss something in episode 1 about change of presenters? Is this just because it is previous contenders or is it permanent? I miss George et al. Loving seeing all the old faces though! Thanks

I agree these 2 are definitely not the best 2 cooks. Both were very one trick for ages . The irritating nicknames sound like 13 yr old sleepover inventions and make me cringe

AiryFairy1 · 26/10/2020 20:08

I think I’m going to cheer Lozzle on - I thought her and Callum were very sweet and genuine about their friendship.
Trying to shuffle the kids into bed a bit earlier so I can start watching!

MrsBungle · 26/10/2020 20:10

Oh I do feel sorry for pasta Lozza with her hand. She’s motoring through and seems in a lot of pain.

Jellycatspyjamas · 26/10/2020 21:06

I confess I may have also shed a tear over the apple helping thing - but then I was fucking furious that Reynold went, because if Meelsy hadn't helped Pasta Lozzle, her apple would have been worse than Reynolds and she would have gone. It's infuriating because I genuinely believe Reynold is far more talented than anyone there.

My DH has a theory that she was being a bit strategic there in that Laura is easier competition than Reynold would have been.

GrandTheftWalrus · 26/10/2020 21:17

Reynold would've won hands down if he got there. Even DH who usually watches his tablet when I've got MCA on said that as well. I told him earlier today who won as he's working tonight and didn't want me to wait.

DustyLoafer · 26/10/2020 21:52

I'm up to date so can now comment, I was dreading seeing any spoilers.

My favourite was Sarah T, had a few tears when she left, and Brendan bless him.

Couldn't stand Poh, she could have served up a plate of dog poo and the judges would have raved about it. That wide mouth laughAngry

Didn't mind the new judges except Mel started to get on my tits with the yelling, and sniffing the food!!!

I'm puzzled how they intricately plate up a frozen dessert, then by the time it's tasted the kitchen has been scrubbed clean.
Do they have to take it apart and plate up again for the editing?

Was sad for Reynold but he did go rogue which you don't do with such a specific recipe, why did Mel always call him Reynolds?

GrandTheftWalrus · 26/10/2020 22:00

I think they keep the frozen desserts in the freezer until serving.

Why were laura and emelia allowed to hug? Do they live together or something?

DustyLoafer · 26/10/2020 22:09

Why were laura and emelia allowed to hug? Do they live together or something?

I would have thought they'd be in a bubble together and in the same apartment.
I'd imagine a lot of the 'elbowing' was for the cameras and they all probably did a lot of actual contact off camera.

DustyLoafer · 26/10/2020 22:11

Looking forward to MKR next week, although I wasn't expecting a new series after I'd read Manu was doing another show with Gary Mehigan.

burnoutbabe · 26/10/2020 22:30

I think the hug was just spontaneous and no one stopped them. They were all pretty close trying to fix the apple machine and weren't told to stand apart then.
The nurse was close to Laura without any mask etc.

I had spoiled myself a month ago when I saw an old Facebook post which tagged masterchef Australia, and which had updated its cover page with the actual winner. Still enjoyed it and preferred the shorter weeks we got.

HeronLanyon · 26/10/2020 22:30

Blimey so that’s over. Right result given tonight’s cool. Good to see Sarah T, Khanh - wanted them to go further/win and Amina - always wanted to try her food a lot.
That season got me through a lot of this awful year. What now ! Don’t like look of MKR but haven’t ever seen it. May give it a go.

Peridot1 · 26/10/2020 22:35

Have avoided this thread in case of spoilers! But we are all up to date,

Have watched every season from season 1. Love it.

Was worried I wouldn’t like this season without the old judges but a few of my Aussie friends said they enjoyed it so gave it a go. Really enjoyed it. We only came in on episode 16 as we didn’t have Sky for a while but got into it all straight away. Loved it.

Really liked the new judges. Felt a bit sorry for Andy. Their clothes are obviously styled by the show and he seems to have gotten the short straw! The colour themes always fitted in so I really don’t think he chose his outfits.

I seem to be in a minority with regard to Reynold though - I thought he was a bit cocky to be honest. I really felt for him when he got eliminated but in a few of the cooks he made some really cocky comments.

I was really glad they could have the other contestants there for the finale. It’s been so strange seeing them not be able to hug. Was glad Emelia just hugged Laura tonight.

And I was ok with Emelia winning. I thought the chat where she was upset and said she was an exceptional cook was heavily edited. She cried and suddenly she wasn’t crying. But her make up was perfect. They had definitely edited it to seem that she perked up once Jock agreed with her.

Felt very sorry for Laura tonight with her burn. That must have hurt like hell. I’ve done similar and it was agony. I couldn’t have continued to cook.

Anyway. Loved it so much. It is my comfort tv.

Roll on next year.

And we have MKR now from Monday!

MrsBungle · 26/10/2020 23:39

Sorry, obviously being dense. What’s MKR?

DramaAlpaca · 27/10/2020 00:11

@MrsBungle MKR is My Kitchen Rules Australia. It starts on 2nd November on W channel. If you haven't seen it before you've missed a treat.

Enjoyed the final today, glad it was close.

AiryFairy1 · 27/10/2020 13:04

I finally had a happy google of some of the contestants and previous winners - in some of the winners’ cases, it doesn’t appear that winning has had the life-changing impact on their lives as one might expect 🤔 in one case (think it’s Elena) she’s not even in the food industry, went back to teaching (very worthy role), and Billie is back on her farm making cheese, after a stint with Heston at the Fat Duck!

Just think it’s interesting!

StartupRepair · 27/10/2020 20:03

I don't like MKR. They get unlikeable contestants and whip up the drama between them. I like MCA because of the friendship and respect between the contestants.
Amelia was a guest judge on junior MasterChef the other day and a tiny little girl made perfect choux pastry for her.

icklekid · 27/10/2020 20:40

Well just caught up and the right person on the day won. Very emotional scenes and was surprised they saved confetti until end just added to the less OTT feel from previous years. I have to say relationships between judges and contestants definitely made it work this year. Sad it’s over but great series!
