Apologies if there is already a thread but I missed it? Been watching since episode 2 and always adore it... did I miss something in episode 1 about change of presenters? Is this just because it is previous contenders or is it permanent? I miss George et al. Loving seeing all the old faces though! Thanks

First time watching the Australian version, usually only watch the USA one

Must say they are taking a LONG time getting rid of people, what is it episode 15 and only 3 have gone so far?

Do they ramp up getting rid or are there hundreds of episodes?

Virgo1958 · 25/08/2020 08:49

Hundreds of episodes

MrsBungle · 25/08/2020 08:54

I quite like the new judges. Laura is annoying me with constant pasta as is the one who seems to make nothing but ice cream. The episode in front of the audience I had to mute at times - the whooping and cheering!

Virgo1958 · 25/08/2020 09:10

The whooping and cheering was really annoying and shouting out names. Thank God they don't do that very much in this show.

Tessa was unusually incompetent in last night's programme. She din't seem to have a grip on the team at al.

Ontheboardwalk · 25/08/2020 18:23

Virgo1958 oh no hundreds of episodes, that’s what I was worried about, especially as some of them are nearly 2 hours long

I only started watching it because of Ramsey week, I don’t think I can make it to the end

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 25/08/2020 18:29

Australian Masterchef is my favourite. Currently watching the series where they bring back previous contestants - a couple of them annoy me now as they did back then.....

Dontlickthetrolley · 25/08/2020 19:52

I love how long the series is, you need proper staying power and I also know that when this is over, it's nearly Christmas!

ilovemydogandmrobama2 · 25/08/2020 19:55

Love Australian Masterchef - Greg and Matt are doing another food show - Plate of Orgin.

Think the standard of cooking in Australian MC is way way better than any other competitions.

GrandTheftWalrus · 26/08/2020 12:25

I love masterchef Australia. However I wasnt going to watch because of the new judges but I am enjoying it

Dontlickthetrolley · 26/08/2020 13:34

Does anyone know why Red Hair Sarah didn't cool in this week's first task? Thought it was strange she was there but not cooking but cheering when the relevant team won (no spoilers here!)

Dontlickthetrolley · 26/08/2020 13:35

Obviously I meant cook!

AiryFairy1 · 26/08/2020 18:23

Oh yay there’s a thread for my favourite cooking show!

I’ve watched since the beginning (although can’t remember some of the winners Hmm) and wasn’t sure about the new judges at first, but a few weeks in and I like their vibe. They seem young and fresh compared to Gazza, George and Matt!

I was also getting annoyed with Pasta al Laura - diversify, girl!

My current favs are Sarah T, muscly Ben U and Jess.

And I love Melissa’s styling, she’s so cute!

Big fan here 🤩

GrandTheftWalrus · 26/08/2020 18:42

I'm just watching the last pressure test. I like the fact they are now 60 or 90 mins instead of 3/4hrs.

I do know who won though as I was reading about the coronavirus affecting it etc.

Same with americas got talent.

AiryFairy1 · 26/08/2020 19:33

@GrandTheftWalrus this is my fear - I have so many questions (like what happened next for the ones who have left!) but I daren't Google, as the winner will no doubt pop up!!

GrandTheftWalrus · 26/08/2020 20:15

I dont mind knowing who won as I've seen the majority of them cooking before from their seasons. Well from 5 onwards. Haven't seen 1-4.

When it's a new series with normal contestants then I dont google.

Dontlickthetrolley · 29/08/2020 16:09

From experience! Don't tag that you're watching MasterChef Australia via the "watching" in Facebook as that sometimes reveals the winner in the picture that appears Angry

LBOCS2 · 01/09/2020 21:42

@GrandTheftWalrus they're all on prime if you have it - personally I think 1-4 are the best series they've done, maybe less so 1 because they're still finding their feet, but beyond that it was brilliant - still fresh and new and not tired yet.

Does anyone find that they have a piece of equipment du jour and they're always bloody using it? With one of the early series it was Michael and the sous vide, this time around it's the blinking hibachi grill. It's used in almost every round!

JazzaGal · 02/09/2020 00:56

Pasta Laura is the most annoying. Jock is annoying too. Laura and Emilia are friends. Even so there was no need to the over the top fake reaction and eye roll to Reynold and Jess making a new dessert. They are the two strongest cooks for puddings.

I reckon they didn't want two women judges. I'd rather have Poh than the dark haired fella.

Sarah red hair didn't cook because it was an odd number. It wasn't broadcast over here so it just seemed like she was stood to the side. It was explained better with Hayden.

The pressure tests seem unfairly biased towards the contestants that either work in a professional restaurant or own their own.

I loved Jess tonight. I can't yet call a winner.

TrashKitten10 · 02/09/2020 12:22

I did have to laugh when the twist forced pasta Laura had to abandon her pasta. Agree @JazzaGal that Andy doesn't bring much to the panel for me. The other two come across as really professional and articulate and he just comes across more like the work experience guy. Twist week is fun so far. Last nights twist was so hard and I loved Jess helping out Amina 🥰

Jonsnowsghost · 02/09/2020 12:27

I love Masterchef Australia, it's my favourite program. Although I am currently working my way through 2019 on Amazon Prime - I guess you're all talking about the newest season?
I love how long it takes to get through it, you really get invested in the people.
I accidently spoilered 2019 season for myself because I was googling if Simon was single 😅 I love him

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 02/09/2020 12:35

Have watched this since the first series. Love it.

I enjoy MKR, but it is so so bitchy compared to this. I love that the contestants are all so supportive of one another.

As for pasta Laura, good for her, sticking to her strengths is keeping her in. Ben makes tonnes of ice cream. Poh loves making cakes.

Of course you're going to stick to your strengths.

AiryFairy1 · 02/09/2020 12:46

Oh Simon is my other fav. Love how passionate he is about veggies “that purple cauliflower turns me on” 🤩
Loving twist week, although I thought binning choux buns was a great waste, in fact I stress a little over all the waste 😯🙈

PegasusReturns · 02/09/2020 12:49

Love masterchef - I have watched it since I was a child and Lloyd Grossman presented whilst four housewives from the Home Counties cooked in their coloured kitchens Grin

Australia have obviously done the best with the franchise, it’s far superior to the US and U.K. versions.

I’m hoping that Reynold wins

PegasusReturns · 02/09/2020 12:54

Spoiler alert re Ben Ungerman

He was booted off after being charged with Sexual assault of a 16 year old girl. It’s not yet gone to trial.

Jonsnowsghost · 02/09/2020 13:20

I can confirm that Simon is not single (boo) and they just got a dog but he did live in the UK for 5 years so there's always hope if it doesn't work out with his girlfriend 😅

I saw that he is back for the 2020 season so I'll definitely be watching!
