Apologies if there is already a thread but I missed it? Been watching since episode 2 and always adore it... did I miss something in episode 1 about change of presenters? Is this just because it is previous contenders or is it permanent? I miss George et al. Loving seeing all the old faces though! Thanks

Well that's my absolute favourite gone, and I think the final decision wasn't based totally on the dishes put up that evening.

AiryFairy1 · 13/10/2020 10:08

I agree. They weren’t my absolute fav but I also felt they were very unlucky in the 1 inch cube challenge 😔

I have a feeling I know who the winner is but I won’t say anything 😁

XiCi · 13/10/2020 10:18

I think the right person went last night. I really hope I can get to the end now without seeing any spoilers. When did it end in Aus?

AnnieRich · 13/10/2020 11:34

I liked the person who was eliminated yesterday, but did feel they were the weakest of those remaining. Having said that, I would have happily eaten their final dish before any of the others.

IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp · 13/10/2020 11:34

Very sad about last night - sometimes it just seems completely illogical! I did have a very nervous moment when I thought the person who should win, was going to be eliminated.

Also, if you can't make a fucking creme caramel in an hour how the hell do you get to the final 5 Hmm it wasn't even nearly a creme caramel! And yet someone with way more skill goes home Hmm

Can we talk about contestants by name that have left now or are we still worried about spoilers? I'm finding it all very hard Grin

I think it's definitely becoming clear that Barry Jock is "head judge" in a different way to the previous judges. Poor Andy especially is always looking anxiously at Jock (and it's great when Jock has a different opinion, poor Andy, it's like kicking a kitten)

I'm sure you will all be glad to know DH and I are still playing Jock and Andy Grin DH cooked a roast chicken the other night and it really took me to Flavour Town. I felt though that a touch more seasoning would have taken it from good to great and whilst his technical skill are there, he just needs to work on developing his flavour profiles.

DH now wants me to play Andy so he can play Jock now Grin

IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp · 13/10/2020 11:37

Oh that one inch cube challenge also made me eye roll. And I'm sure they could see a small bit under their sleep masks "blindfolds"

Yes please God, lets, its becoming impossible to chat.

LOOK AWAY NOW IF YOURE NOT UP TO DATE

Who do.we all think will win? I'm so annoyed Emilia is still in the competition, shes just been really lucky that alot of the challenges have been geared to her strengths. So sad Sarah T got eliminated!

StartupRepair · 13/10/2020 20:56

Don't relinquish the Jock role!
In Australia we are now all transfixed by MasterChef junior. Same judges with the most amazingly talented and funny kids. Andy is in his natural element.

Ontheboardwalk · 13/10/2020 22:12

XiCi I agree LOOK AWAY NOW IF YOURE NOT UP TO DATE

If i'm not up to date with the uk showings I keep away from the thread until I am

I can’t believe Poh stayed in when she served them custard in the first round. The taco idea wasn’t great though

IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp · 14/10/2020 09:52

Masterchef Junior Australia!!? Right that's it, I'm moving, see you soon Grin

I'm actually re-watching Series 1 on Prime. I have seen this but have no memory of it (genuinely, actually no memory, long story Grin) and surprised how like the X factor it is. It's a little cringy to be honest with all the ooooh drama can they chop an onion Shock and George seems a little...sleazy with female contestants.

Anyway. I really think this year it must be Reynold for the win, he seems to be head and shoulders above the pack. I love Reynold. I love it when he fucks something up (and just looks a tiny bit worried instead of massive drama like Poh anyone else) and yet still he has a better dish than anyone Grin also gutted Sarah T went, a final with her and Reynold would have been great.

I am definitely not relinquishing the Jock role Grin unless I can be Melissa of course. Sadly this can't happen - I do have some very high heels, a lovely heavily tattooed DH (have you all seen her DH btw?) and a cute cat, but sadly not her style or her wardrobe. She gets so giddy - I really do love her!

IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp · 14/10/2020 09:53

That post makes me seem a little giddy myself Blush I have had a large coffee this morning Grin

I'm doing the same but I'm so addicted, I'm up to season 4 already and loving seeing Andy as a contestant again!

You are right about the early seasons - they are very x-factor and quite cringey. It does seem to settle in properly in s4 (although George just asked someone if they were a freak, which did seem a bit jarring these days!😁)

BigFatLiar · 14/10/2020 20:13

Jock is definitely in charge. Also as the season has progressed I get the impression that he makes his mind up about the dishes while they're still cooking and his comments tend to reflect his criticism during his wanderings.

Dontlickthetrolley · 14/10/2020 23:09

I thought it was weird tonight that they criticised something that wasn't on the plate. They really were clutching at straws to find fault with the dish!

DramaAlpaca · 14/10/2020 23:23

I am really at the stage now when I want anyone but the irritating Poh to win. She's driving me nuts.

iusedtoloveopalfruits1 · 14/10/2020 23:45

@BigFatLiar I think they must go round and taste things as they are made but not say anything to the contestants at the time.

dalrympy · 15/10/2020 07:08

Can we watch Masterchef Australia Junior in the UK. I NEED that in my life so much 🙏🏼

AnnieRich · 15/10/2020 07:55

I am losing patience with Poh, too. The ditsy diva dramatics are very wearing- though a lot could be down to the editing.

It is a competition (big prize) but its also television so it needs to be entertaining. She does seem to have a problem with doing things on the fly misjudging the time. Its an issue they all have had at times its just her work arounds don't come off.

XiCi · 15/10/2020 08:53

Yes I think they definitely edit the show for effect, keeping everyone on the edge of thir seat to see if Poh gets her dish out of the oven in time Grin. Its frustrating to watch but I do actually really like her. I think it will be her and Reynold in the final.
It's an elimination tonight isnt it. I'm hoping Emilia goes.

LBOCS2 · 15/10/2020 20:22

Does anyone know why Laura is suddenly so very orange? I spotted it when she was on the gantry in the last elimination, but it seems to be getting worse 🤷🏼‍♀️

SquishyFishy · 15/10/2020 20:50

Apparently Reynolds bringing out the big guns in the next episode - looking forward to see that!

BigFatLiar · 16/10/2020 07:41

Can't warm to Reynolds. I feel like if I ate at his place it would be very nice very expensive and I'd want to stop at the chippy on the way home.

XiCi · 16/10/2020 08:50

Does anyone know why Laura is suddenly so very orange Wasnt it filmed in Aus in the summer? I noticed she was darker but just assumed she'd caught the sun. Shes got flawless skin!

I like Reynold. I think earlier on he was very much style over substance but he seems to have rectified this now, focusing on the flavours. I'm not sure who I think is going to win though I do think the judges favour Reynold.

Dont know why but every time Mel talks at the eliminations she makes me cry, shes very eloquent.

FiveMoreMinutesPlease · 16/10/2020 10:37

I'm so happy I've found this thread. I love love MCA.

My faves were Sarah T and Jess but now really want Calum or Renauld to lift the plate.

I think Jock is gorgeous and trying to encourage hubbby to dress like him. Sadly it's not working.
