Apologies if there is already a thread but I missed it? Been watching since episode 2 and always adore it... did I miss something in episode 1 about change of presenters? Is this just because it is previous contenders or is it permanent? I miss George et al. Loving seeing all the old faces though! Thanks

The exceptional cook speech was awful,

I find all their little talks about how meaningful their dish is to them a bit cringeworthy

IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp · 22/10/2020 10:01

Oh the exceptional cook speech was awfully cringey, wasn't it

@icklekid how on earth can your DH not like Aus Masterchef?? I hope you're getting your ducks in a row for that massive red flag Wink

I feel bad for Laura being bullied online though, that's shit for her. Can't believe she is only 25! She has a very sparkly wedding ring Smile

Mwah ha ha @AiryFairy1 at "the pointy end of the competition" Grin

I desperately want Reynold to win, as well as being extremely talented, he is just so low key - no drama, no wailing. When his snitch dessert looked a bit wobbly all he did was step back and take a deep breath then crack back on - such a contrast with everyone else Grin

I'm still (very slowly) rewatching the first Series and my goodness, the contrast!

XiCi · 22/10/2020 10:06

The exceptional cook speech was awful, was it editing or did she recover quickly?

It was almost sociopathic the way she immediately stopped crying and was all smiles when Jock agreed that yes she was an exceptional cook. I think he was scared that if he didnt agree shed progress to full on meltdown Grin

IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp · 22/10/2020 10:08

Gah posted too soon Angry The first series is so drama real drama (fair enough, it was very X factor style at the beginning as it hadn't "evolved") but the contrast with the judges is jarring, they definitely evolved too Grin Lots of dubious hugging from George, I would have kicked him.

May I also just say that Poh fucked up her first proper challenge with an ability to make a noodle, so she started as she meant to go on Grin and I clearly found her annoying right from the beginning. She looks so young and very pretty though. Jealous of the cheekbones!

IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp · 22/10/2020 10:15

Grin at Jock being scared and agreeing - now we know why he has his worry beads! He had them again last night, I still find it very endearing Blush

I meant to ask @StartupRepair, are the episodes shown in Australia the same as the U.K. ones? Sometimes the editing seems really weird and I wondered if they are edited differently as well as having a different theme tune.

Ontheboardwalk · 22/10/2020 10:22

I can’t believe me and Mel's earrings have made it through 58 episodes. It’s my first time watching and only started watching because Ramsay was on the first week

I’ve really enjoyed the series. I like American MC so wasn’t sure of the slower pace and many many episodes of the Australian show. I'm hooked now.

Another vote here for Reynold to win, he’s been one of my favourites from the start. I’m still gutted Jess didn’t make it to the final

StartupRepair · 22/10/2020 10:41

@IWantToBeMelissaWhenIGrowUp I don't know what the UK version is like and if it's different. Sounds very much like the season we watched. Being in a strict lockdown (as we are again in Melbourne) we did obsess over every detail.

AiryFairy1 · 22/10/2020 22:59

Tonight’s ep 😭

DramaAlpaca · 22/10/2020 23:17
Sad
burnoutbabe · 23/10/2020 08:02

I know, i nearly cried too. My fave gone!
So just 2 nights left! And then I get my evenings back again!

BigFatLiar · 23/10/2020 08:17

Wasn't surprised that Reynolds got through first it was a pretty dish. It was so small though I doubt they could taste much. Even as starters some of the servings are tiny. Perhaps the difference between going out to dine and going out for a meal.

MrsBungle · 23/10/2020 08:40

@XiCi I hope I’m wrong too about Meelsy. I was gutted at last night’s episode Sad

Dontlickthetrolley · 23/10/2020 20:06

What's going on with Meelsy's lipstick? 💋

FiveMoreMinutesPlease · 23/10/2020 20:56

😢😢😢😢😢

Ontheboardwalk · 23/10/2020 21:08

FFS

exLtEveDallas · 23/10/2020 21:15

Gutted. Not the first time someone’s been caught out going ‘off recipe’ though.

burnoutbabe · 23/10/2020 21:29

So sad they couldn't hug.

And so sweet the helping with the apple though it would seem to unfair to leave due to being unable to use unfamiliar equipment

BigFatLiar · 23/10/2020 22:24

Unfortunate but inevitable, you could tell he be going when he said he was going to trust his gut and not stick with the recipe. Laura otoh basically said she hadn't a clue so stuck rigidly to it and did ok. A lesson in that.

HeronLanyon · 23/10/2020 22:42

Good lord - just watched. That was emotional !

Youmeanyouvelostyourkey · 23/10/2020 22:46

Lost both my favourites in the last two nights. Gutted. I really do not want Laura to win.....and I bet she bloody does

DramaAlpaca · 23/10/2020 23:44

My two faves gone. Wahhh!

Right, based on tonight's performance, it's Meelzy for the win now.

Ontheboardwalk · 24/10/2020 01:45

DramaAlpaca my view was anyone but them two. Am gutted now at the finale

I’m now with you. Meelzy for the win

SquishyFishy · 24/10/2020 12:05

I'm the opposite- I can't bear meelzy and am all for Lozzle to win out of those two.

If I could have picked from everyone, it would have been Reynolds first, Jess second and Reece third

XiCi · 24/10/2020 13:21

I cant bear Meelzy. The smirk on her face when Reynold went was horrible. I've never taken to Laura bit really hope she wins

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives · 24/10/2020 15:24

Gutted at last nights result. I cried when he turned round to face the benches and you heard the strangled sob 😭

My gut instinct was Emilia for the win, but this is Laura’s 2nd final and that’s not a coincidence. Although Emilia’s a better pastry chef, Laura might be a better all rounder. It’ll be a close one. Can’t believe it’s nearly over. I’ve enjoyed it so much!
