Lockdown without wine? Unthinkable.

Fizzywinegum · 05/05/2020 18:51

I agree - lockdown without alcohol would be awful - I think I’d take to my bed and stay there until it was over! Might still do that anyway!

I made my bread today - it turned out quite well but needed a bit more salt I think. I’ve never used fresh yeast before (more exciting food news Grin)

PrivateSpidey · 05/05/2020 19:11

I'm definitely interested in food news Grin good work with the bread Fizzy!

Jane glad your appointment was ok. You made me laugh about going back to the 70s - I hope you wore some flares to go out in?!

Raahh · 05/05/2020 19:22

I have just seen your post about window cleaners being Jehovah's Witnesses, Magi. Do the ladders get them closer to heaven?

Serena is a JW. And a mother.

kazzaD66 · 05/05/2020 19:34

And a living deity Raahh Hmm

Raahh · 05/05/2020 19:36
Grin
JaneJeffer · 05/05/2020 19:43

Grin I wonder if the JW's are missing going door to door.

Unfortunately I had skinnies Private but my top was quite 70's Grin

Jane one benefit of Lockdown - no door to door sales people. Or JW.

OMG. Dh has just done another quiz night on zoom with the football league he is part of. He , as usual, ended up involving me (I am very good at music rounds)- and then , there was KARAOKE.

He we won. He has to host next week. I refuse to be on camera.

Did you do karaoke Raahh? Hope you had lots of vodka Grin

kazzaD66 · 05/05/2020 22:09

Well done Raahh Grin

JaneJeffer · 05/05/2020 22:52

Fizzy I was expecting you to be the OP here World War 3 over "cheating" at Cluedo http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3896851-World-War-3-over-cheating-at-Cluedo Grin

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 06/05/2020 08:21

It wasn’t me Jane but it could have been Grin

DH suggested a game of Cluedo at the weekend but tensions were running a bit high so we decided not too!

I prefer the term strategising to cheating (not sure that my family would agree with this!)

Raahh · 06/05/2020 09:25

Morning! I did do Karaoke- it was a 'continue the lyrics round'. vodka had been consumed. I can't remember the song, but did ok. Grin.

It reminded me of a very embarrassing incident (at my dcs primary school , no less) where the PTA did a music quiz. Our team were winning, (due to me, again , and my useless music knowledge).

Then someone opened the second bottle of wine...

I don't remember the rest of the night. We came last in the end, from being runaway leaders, and I fell asleep on the table.

That was 12 years ago. Not sure how I showed my face the next day- or how I wasn't hungover. DD2 (dc3)is still at the school Grin

Fizzywinegum · 06/05/2020 09:45

Raahh that’s funny - never open that second bottle (a rule that I don’t always follow myself Grin)

JaneJeffer · 06/05/2020 18:42

Love both of them, Jane

I stink!! I really smell!

Someone (who needa a patio) managed to upset a whole bottle of Jeyes Fluid all over the shed, my hand tools, my flower pots, my seed trays, the shelves & the floor.

It is now sorted but I smell like a disinfected dustbin!!

Tomorow is another day & today we have dipped into the second bottle!! Hic!

JaneJeffer · 06/05/2020 23:19

Oh dear poor mrmagi is in the doghouse again. Well at least the smell will make people keep the required distance away from you.

I'm watching a programme about St. Petersburg on BBC4 and they're having shots of vodka followed by a slice of gherkin. I'm tempted to have one right now.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 07/05/2020 09:06

Did you go for it Jane? Bit of a strange combination Grin

Oh dear mrmagi has had a bad week! Hope that he behaves himself tonight at the clap and doesn’t go rogue at the VE party tomorrow - you need to get him some reins Grin

magimedi · 07/05/2020 09:42

I love him dearly, really! I've stuck with him for nearly 35 years!!!!

Vodka & gherkins sounds quite nice but a bit early to try it now.

Raahh · 07/05/2020 09:44
Grin

My mother mixed up jeyes fluid with weed killer last year and all but destroyed her garden Grin. On the plus side, the weeds have never grown back. Took a while for the grass too. Grin.

I have no motivation today. I did actually mow the lawn yesterday ( only because of the VE day thing- even if we don't take part, if everone else is out, our garden looked like a jungle ).

JaneJeffer · 07/05/2020 11:31

I stuck with my glass of water. I will try it some time though! No sign of my washing machine yet grr.

PrivateSpidey · 07/05/2020 18:43

Hi tennis pals

Hope everyone is well. Have you recovered from your Jeyes incident magi?! Shock

Raahh good work with the grass cutting Grin We have been making VE Day bunting today for a "home school" activity - it was quite relaxing!

I love that pattern Jane. I really want to buy some new clothes but seems totally pointless at the moment Hmm

I had an exciting delivery of a new jigsaw today Grin I ordered it ages ago at the start of lockdown, and it went out of stock, so I'd pretty much forgotten about it. So it was the highlight of the week! The scene is "An Evening in Paris"
