Jane, you'll be fine & possibly even enjoy going out. It's the thought that's so scarey.

I hit the wall badly on Saturday but actually did some stuff yesterday - cutting down a dead shrub & cupboard clearing - and feel better for it. Find there are up days & down days.

This was posted elsewhere & I think it helps a bit.

Raahh · 04/05/2020 12:25

I am making dd2 , Ikea meatballs for lunch, the other 2 have yet to surface Blush.

The VE day thing is bizarre- there is a whole day of stuff planned, from 11am. Although it really depends on whether or not you have made 'tea and scones' to eat at 4pm, I suppose. Dinner is at 6, apparently. I want to know what dinner is, and who is cooking Grin.

JaneJeffer · 04/05/2020 12:27

I agree magi. No harm to sit and wallow for a while and then if you force yourself to get up and do something it usually helps.

I keep going to put on a wash and remembering I don't have a washing machine. It's a bank holiday today so no chance of it turning up either.

Raahh make a sign saying I'm just here for the dinner Grin

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 04/05/2020 12:30

And hold it over your head like Stefanos.

OP posts:
Raahh · 04/05/2020 12:33

Jane that is a good idea- I might do that.

And refuse to speak.

Fizzywinegum · 04/05/2020 12:42

Grin Jane

I like that sign magi - you are a wise woman Smile

Our VE party is supposed to be from 4-6pm - there was talk of having food delivered to leave more time for drinking Hmm. Everyone has to come up with a game/something fun (I hate organised fun!)

My Stefanos sign would be ‘more gin please’ Grin

My DH left the neighbours WhatsApp group because he was fed up of all the posts. According to my DSs this is one of the worst social faux pas that you can commit as everyone knows that you’ve left the group - he doesn’t care though and says he’s not going to the party!

magimedi · 04/05/2020 13:03

We are having a small VE tea party in our close - but we all know each other quite well & have had street parties before (Royal wedding, Jubilee etc) so it should be OK. Mind you, it had better be warm as am not freezing my arse off sitting outside my front door!

JaneJeffer · 04/05/2020 13:05

I hope His Lordship doesn't lose his peerage for refusing to celebrate VE Day Fizzy

Fizzywinegum · 04/05/2020 13:10

Grin Jane - this thread has cheered me up today!

PrivateSpidey · 04/05/2020 15:38

Grin yes very unpatriotic of His Lordship Grin I can't say i blame him though! Organised fun doesn't sit well with me either.

I think under normal circumstances it would be ok but under lockdown it's a bit rubbish. Or am I just being a VE Day Scrooge? (Bah humbug!)

Not that I've even been invited to any VE Day parties anyway - huh. I could even defrost some scones for the occasion!

Good luck with your appointment Jane.

Fizzywinegum · 05/05/2020 09:26

If I were you Spidey I would just stay at home and eat your scones - I’m planning on sitting in my (back) garden unless I get forced into the organised fun (also bah humbug!)

After last weeks black market flour shenanigans I went to Aldi this morning and they had loads of flour - serves me right Grin

Hope your appointment goes OK Jane

JaneJeffer · 05/05/2020 13:37

Thanks everyone. I'm home again. The hospital was a bit nerve wracking. Having to wear a mask made me feel a bit panicky. I have to have cataract surgery but as everything is up in the air he couldn't say when but at least I'm on the list now. It was nice to have a change of scenery anyway.

Hope you're all ok.

OP posts:
magimedi · 05/05/2020 13:58

Pleased it went well, Jane. Surely you are not old enough for cataract surgery??? I always think of you as being about mid 30's.

Great delight here - a knock at the door & it was the window cleaners back to work again. So pleased to see them, I've known them for 15+ years.

JaneJeffer · 05/05/2020 14:08

Yes I'm much too young Grin I'm "only" 51 but I've already had one eye done before I was even 50. It is young to have cataracts but I read that it's common in Australia from UV damage which I thought I should be safe from living in Ireland!

Enjoy your shiny windows magi. I've never known a window cleaner who wasn't very strange as I think I may have said before on a previous thread Grin

OP posts:
magimedi · 05/05/2020 14:56

I think that's because a lot of them are Jehovah's Witnesses, Jane. These ones aren't & are quite normal.

JaneJeffer · 05/05/2020 16:39

Sitting here having a glass of wine. I feel attacked.

No Tennis No Cry
OP posts:
magimedi · 05/05/2020 17:08

So you don't feel alone I think I'll go & have a glass as well.

Dear God, there are some joy suckers out there.

JaneJeffer · 05/05/2020 17:18

Cheers magi WineGrin

kazzaD66 · 05/05/2020 17:28

Well done on your window cleaners magi
We've just had LawnTech here to spread magic stuff on our lawn Hmm They've just started working again, whilst appropriately socially distancing, of course Wink DH is out in the garden but didn't tell me the bloke was here.....and my under garments were hanging on the washing line Blush

Bad luck about the cataracts Jane
Sunny old Ireland, eh? Grin
I remember some of your window cleaners tales Grin

Just finished a load of ironing, so thought I'd see what was happening on here before starting dinner.
And yes, I think I'll have a cheeky G&T whilst prepping GinWink
If middle agers are turning into alcoholics, I may as well live up to the billing Grin

JaneJeffer · 05/05/2020 17:54

It's been very sunny here lately and the promised rain didn't materialise. I felt like I had gone back to the 70's today with less traffic, more walkers and blazing sunshine!

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 05/05/2020 17:57

I’ll be joining you soon Wine Gin

Lockdown with no alcohol would be very bad - apparently that happened in South Africa Shock

DramaAlpaca · 05/05/2020 18:02

Window cleaners and lawn people?! Signs of normality starting to return!

We won't talk about my lockdown wine consumption Blush I'd have one with you but I'm just taking a break from being up a ladder painting the kitchen, and I wouldn't want to get wobbly.

Glad the eye appointment went well Jane. My dad recently had his second eye done and he's very pleased with the result.

Raahh · 05/05/2020 18:03

Fizzy Shock

YY, lockdown with a house full of people and NO TENNIS needs alcohol.

I'm not sure what my excuse was beforehand.
