Heron!

No Tennis No Cry
Raahh · 08/05/2020 20:40

yay! Heron! I haven't been able to get a decent picture of the one near us, since I always have the dog, and and can't hold the camera and the dog at the same time Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 08/05/2020 21:34

It looks quite small in this photo Raahh but was quite big in real life

magimedi · 08/05/2020 21:43

Herons are HUGE birds.

Our VE celebration was lovely. Out of 18 houses in our close about 15 came out. (The others are very old & in total ockdown but waved from the windows) We all took out chairs & sat distanced in the road. A few little kids ran up & down the road on scooters & bikes & squabbled over toys & fell over & cried & a couple of the local dogs barked & someones BBQ smoked liked fury & a couple of the young ones did a booze run (for themselves) up to the corner shop for beer & everyone kept well apart but all chatted & wine/beer was consumed & we all went in about 6pm & everyone said it wa s the best party they had ever been to - even some of the 18 - 20 year olds. It just felt so normal, apart from keeping distance. It did us all a power of good.

Fizzywinegum · 08/05/2020 21:52

Sounds like a good party magi - hope mrmagi behaved himself Grin

kazzaD66 · 08/05/2020 22:20

Wow fizzy
Great heron! Grin

Glad you had a good party magi

PrivateSpidey · 08/05/2020 22:45

Love the heron photo! Wildlife guru AC would strongly approve Fizzy Grin

magi your street party sounds great. A few people sat outside here, so we had a bit of a chat with the neighbours. We don't know them that well as we've not been living here that long but it was nice just to have a standard face to face conversation! I was worried I'd forget how to talk to people Confused

JaneJeffer · 08/05/2020 22:46

That's lovely magi

Great photo Fizzy. A pair of ducks flew over our garden yesterday. Dog was not amused. He's already tormented by the swallows swooping. I've never before seen a dog patrolling aerospace like he does.

I know what you mean Spidey - I saw someone from work on our walk and felt like I didn’t know what to say - I will need some social reprogramming for when this all ends!

magimedi · 09/05/2020 06:33

Everyone said how lovely it was to talk to someone different. And how lovely it was to have a bit of noise in the street!

Bloody seagulls woke me up at 5.30. They seem to come inland for April & May (to nest??) & then bugger off back to the sea in early June - can't wait for them to go!!

JaneJeffer · 09/05/2020 06:56

I barely slept a wink, felt a bit sick and had the cuckoo making a racket as soon as the sun came up but it's a beautiful morning.

PrivateSpidey · 09/05/2020 08:20

Ugh that's no good Jane. Hope you feel a bit better and have time for a magi style daytime snooze!

I laughed about your dog patrolling the aerospace Grin the cheek of those birds just flying over his garden!

Social reprogramming is right Fizzy. I think I need a total reboot Grin

JaneJeffer · 09/05/2020 09:38

I feel better now. Had a horrible sinus headache last night and the sinus tablets I took made me feel sick so I just swapped one complaint for another! So tired though.

Do any of you tennis players know the answer to this problem? Tennis in lockdown- repair question http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/thirtydayss_only/3903774-Tennis-in-lockdown-repair-question

OP posts:
PrivateSpidey · 09/05/2020 11:37

Yes that's the problem with some headache meds. Glad you're ok now.

I popped over and replied on the tennis court thread. Probably not that much of a helpful reply tbh. Tim needs to go and give her a hand!

JaneJeffer · 09/05/2020 11:42

Yes Tim would sort that in no time Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 09/05/2020 12:38

That sounds rough, Jane. I have an ongoing prescription for anti-emetics, because my migraine tablets make me feel sick. Hmm. You can't win some times!

Ahh, Tim. He really is beginning to morph into Bob the Builder in my head Grin.

Fizzywinegum · 09/05/2020 13:00

I wonder how Tim’s underground car park is getting on (I can’t even remember if that’s a real thing or something made up from the parallel tennis universe Grin)

Hope you feel better soon Jane - we need a picture of the pesky cuckoo to continue the wildlife theme!

Fizzywinegum · 10/05/2020 10:22

Morning all Smile

In tenuous tennis news they’re making tennis outfits on The Sewing Bee this week - I bet none of the creations are as weird as Serena’s designs!

I’m dying my hair - I’ve decided that I’m not yet ready to embrace the grey. Bit worried that it’s going to be too dark and I’ll look like a witch Hmm. Can’t wait for the hairdressers to reopen Sad

Raahh · 10/05/2020 10:39

Oh I love Sewing Bee!Grin I did like the little smocked dresses they made this week. Was a bit Hmm about the sleeping bacg challege- just thought it was a waste of a sleeping bagGrin.

I toyed with the idea of dyeing my hair- but it must be over 5 years since I last did, and my hair is so dry now it sucks up colour. But it is tempting.

I'm most desperate for the dog groomer to open- the dog is not low maintenence, though it would help if he would let us brush him!

Raahh · 10/05/2020 10:42

Fizzy re- the too dark thing, about 12 years ago, I put on what was meant to be a light brown, (no different to my hair)and I swear, I looked like I was on my my way to a Goth convention in Whitby. I only left it on half the time it said, as well. Had to send dh out to buy a colour corrector kit. Grin .

Fizzywinegum · 10/05/2020 11:00

Grin Raahh

I liked the bunch of grapes outfit from the Sewing Bee last week.

My hair isn’t too scary - better than last time when my (extensive) grey roots turned orange Shock. Good job I’m only going to the supermarket and on my daily walk!

I’ll probably need the dog groomers when this is all over Grin

Raahh · 10/05/2020 11:08

I am wondering if the groomer will do a 2 for one deal, Fizzy- Ds needs a haircut too (and won't let dh near him with the clippers). He is also sporting a Shaggy Medvedev sprouty beard thing. Grin

My legs are hairier than the dogsGrin.

Fizzywinegum · 10/05/2020 11:18
Grin

DH is the only one happy about his hair - he just shaves it off!

Raahh · 10/05/2020 11:25

Fizzy dh is the same. Was a shock the first time he did it.

DD1 keeps messing with her eyebrows. She has shaved half of them off. HmmShe will be gutted if she has to go back to school like that (though her glasses hide them a bit Grin).

I'm pretty low maintenence, so really, apart from the few pounds I've gained from moving less, I don't look very different.

The weather has taken a dramatic turn today. Was really hot and sunny yesterday, is cold, grey and very windy now.

Fizzywinegum · 10/05/2020 11:39

It’s really cold here as well.

My eyebrows are pretty crazy but I can’t really blame the lockdown for that!
