It's lucky it was just a work of fiction then.

Onesipmore · 13/04/2020 22:48

Could be a second series, following up on the fact its not a permanent adoption, there is a missing embryo etc etc

EarringsandLipstick · 13/04/2020 22:51

Thought it was vile - yet again wealthy couple are able to buy a baby from a vulnerable young woman. Disgusting.

Definitely elements that were vile. But it's not straightforward in the programme - there's complexity in how the story is treated.

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/04/2020 22:53

Kaya said she wanted to be "a businesswoman" but she never actually specified what sort of business she wanted to get into, did she?

purpleme12 · 13/04/2020 22:54

She didn't know
It was just her dream
She envisaged it as a nice life

Turquoisesea · 13/04/2020 23:05

I didn’t understand how when they showed Kaya stabbing Neve how she was then done for murder. It was obviously an accident as she tried to get the knife off her mother. Why didn’t her mother say it was an accident or was that because she had gone for Neve with the knife so wanted Kaya to take the blame?

nancyclancy123 · 13/04/2020 23:08

I loved it and I’m glad things worked out for all three of them. Thank god that Janice the SW was there for Kaya too.
I just wish that Kaya had the opportunity to explain what really happened with regards to the ‘murder’.

SamSeabornforPresident · 13/04/2020 23:09

Yes, if SH had told the police what happened she'd probably have been done for manslaughter. Instead she let her child take the blame.

Did we hear what the child's name was in the end? Was it Gracie or Neve?

EarringsandLipstick · 13/04/2020 23:11

Exactly Turquoisea the mother took advantage of what happened, brainwashed Kaya / Heather into thinking it was all her fault, never told anyone about the argument with Neve (her sister).

EarringsandLipstick · 13/04/2020 23:12

Sam the judge said Neve... assume it would need to stay as Neve, as arrangements were only temporary.

2Rebecca · 13/04/2020 23:12

I didn't see the business idea working because she wanted a lifestyle not to actually work and showed no interest in anything that would make her money and involved her working. The bar job didn't last long.
She also couldn't cope with authority figures and just made smart ass sulky comments rather than having adult conversations with them unless they were being motherly like the female social worker and Emily

Rayagoldensun · 13/04/2020 23:21

Can someone explain the significance of Kaya taking off the necklace? Was it to show she felt she no longer needed Neeves ‘forgiveness’ as Kaya finally believed she had done nothing that needed forgiveness and completely accepted that it was a terrible accident while trying to defend her mother. That she finally realised how evil her mother was in letting her take the blame for a murder she did not commit?

DangerCat01 · 13/04/2020 23:24

Omg was Neve her sister? So she killed her pregnant sister? I missed that bit.

Angellegna · 13/04/2020 23:27

Dan saying “there is no other baby” made absolutely no sense at all. There probably is another baby! And eventually someone would have picked the phone up at the Ukraine clinic. 🙄

Ginger1982 · 13/04/2020 23:29

Neve was Kaya's aunt. Her mum's sister who had 'stolen' her man.

2Rebecca · 13/04/2020 23:34

Neve was Kaya's aunt, her mum's sister. This was unbelievable as in the first video of the mum she was described as "the mother of Neve's murderer" not "Neve's sister" and on Lewis they would have known the relationship so journalist from Lewis would have known. That aspect of it was very silly

purpleme12 · 13/04/2020 23:36

@2Rebecca it perhaps wouldn't really work. I didn't truly believe it was ever going to happen it was just an idea of a life that she dreams of. I think that was what they were trying to portray

But who knows

2Rebecca · 13/04/2020 23:36

They were filthy rich so could have flown to Ukraine with a translator to sort it out

purpleme12 · 13/04/2020 23:38

There was back story though wasn't there to Kaya and her mum's relationship, I mean from before the murder?
That she wasn't a very good mum
I would have liked to have known about that

EarringsandLipstick · 13/04/2020 23:47

I agree with your interpretation of why she took off the necklace Raya

Rayagoldensun · 13/04/2020 23:50

Earrings thanks. I’m very slow at working these things out and often come to a different conclusion to the majority so I’m glad you interpreted the taking off of the necklace in the same way.

FizzPopping · 13/04/2020 23:54

@Angellegna I agree they would have followed it up through legal channels with the clinic (surely!) but I took him saying there was no other baby to also mean they'd had treatment/embryos before but no successful pregnancies so it most likely wouldn't have worked.

EarringsandLipstick · 13/04/2020 23:57

FizzPopping I feel he was trying to explain the futility of trying to follow up with the clinic even the doctor they dealt with seems to have vanished & no-one speaks English. There's effectively 'no baby' as how do you trace what happened to the embryo?

LizzieMacQueen · 13/04/2020 23:59

I'd have liked to have seen Jack and Kaya together at the end. Other than that it was a decent enough ending. Yes to PP's suggestion that there could be a part 2.
