Ep 2 "A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms"

I loved the Danny and Sansa scene, and cried at the Brienne scene. I thought Danny would take Jons news better, oh dear...

And Arya and Gendry! I predicted it and yet was still surprised.

Just noticed the date error, hopefully mnhq can fix?

I loved that episode!

Knew Arya and Gendry would end up together, but found it a little awkward.... Part of me still thinks of her as a little girl (despite her being a face stealing assassin...)

Loved Tormund.

And Brienne.

ClashCityRocker · 22/04/2019 09:09

Yeah, Dany didn't take Jon's news too well. Although surely the obvious answer is to just bloody get married? Would probably get the North onside too.

I was a little surprised about how welcome Theon was.... But he did rescue Sansa from Ramsay didn't he? Ah well, they all seem to be in a very forgiving mood.

When's the trailer for s3 out? I hope this isn't 'the' battler with the white walkers, it seems to early in the season for that! But obviously they can't do anything against cersei until they've dealt with the white walkers.

Middleoftheroad · 22/04/2019 09:12

That was emotional: Brienne and Jamie, Sansa and Theon.

Arya and Gendry - not so emotional!

I want to know what Jon would have said to Dany had they not been interrupted. He was definitely considering the Iron Throne for himself.

Likewise, Sansa and Dany's conversation.

Can I just add... Tormund and the Giant's wife. WTF? Did you see Brienne's face?

Just watched trailer for episode 3, the battle. I have a terrible sense of foreboding based on tonight's reunions.

onedayallthiswillbeyours · 22/04/2019 09:15

Ser Brienne! Made me sob, she is one of my favourite characters and now almost certain to die...

Bronn was given a crossbow by Cersei last episode. Anyone think this could be relevant - might he be the one to slay the night dragon?

Lots of people over on Reddit are commenting on the lack of NK in the line up of the white walker army and where he could possibly be (Sneaking up on Kings Landing is a popular theory).

Seeing the love between Sansa and Theon, after all they have both experienced and survived was very touching. I have a small theory formulating that they will be the last two standing, but unable to produce heirs, the seven kingdoms and possibly human kind will end with them.

All sorted Smile

Slightly worried about how much they seem to be emphasising the women, children and weak will be so much safer in the crypt. There's something down there isn't there??!

Lweji · 22/04/2019 09:18

It's interesting that Dany focused on Jon being a man, also after commenting with Sansa about both being women who fought so hard to dominate in a man's world.
And their conversation was going so well, btw.

I think Jon was weighing his options, but not sure he'll want the throne unless Dany betrays him/them or turns out mad.

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 09:24

Sorry for the double copy and paste in my op too Blush

Sansa and Theon grew up together, and I think she's forgiven him, especially now she knows he really didn't kill Bran or Rickon.

And yes Tormunds story Envy

It’s strange for Dany to focus on Jon being the male heir when he’s also the heir to the senior branch of the family. He’d have a better claim even if he were female. But I guess in practice a male heir would always be favoured. That’s why he was King In The North not Sansa despite being a bastard.

Middleoftheroad · 22/04/2019 09:24

In the original S8 trailer you see Arya running through the crypt terrified and there was so much emphasis this week on placing the women and children down there, that yes, there's something down there. Is it Balerion the dragon I wonder?

TakenForSlanted · 22/04/2019 09:25

Ser Brienne! Made me sob, she is one of my favourite characters and now almost certain to die...

Same here, I love her! She's brave and honourable and kind and more than merely capable to hold her own in a role that's to meant to be for her. But she's not there entirely of her own choosing: the traditional path of a noble lady was never really open to her because of something entirely out of her control: she's not beautiful (and, yes, I know Gwendolyn is stunning - but the character is certainly not meant to be).

She won't make it after being knighted, will she? Sad

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 09:26

Thank you mnhq! Grin

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 22/04/2019 09:26

I think it’s the other way around. I think Jaime will die in her arms.

onedayallthiswillbeyours · 22/04/2019 09:27

Surely all Jon had to do after his revelation was quickly reiterate his usual stance that titles are irrelevant (he's been banging on about it enough!) and that the war against the dead is more important than what they all call each other. He could have quickly reassured Dany and smoothed it all over for the time-being. He knows better than anyone that none of them may survive the battle ahead, so talk of anything beyond that is kind of pointless at this stage. If by some miracle they do survive then they can cross the whole birthrite/inheritance bridge when they get to it!

ClashCityRocker · 22/04/2019 09:28

Yes there's definitely something in the crypt.

My bet for first/most dramatic death will be the wee girl who wanted to 'guard' the crypt.

The weapon Gendry made Arya looked suspiciously like the wraith's stick with dragon glass tips didn't it? Hopefully just because Arya is adept with the stick from her time in the house of many faces....

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 09:32

Is the Knight King in the Crypts at winterfell, ready to do some more raising of the dead..?

I thought gilly looked pregnant, but they are hiding it, she might be pregnant in real life.

Dany is still power Hungary she tried to win Sansa round but she backed off when Sansa said they will never accept a ruler in the North, with this and Jon’s true heritage he has the north behind him if he was to pursue the throne, he was raised in the north and has stalk blood aswell as targerian. Dany is simply an outside and she knows this no one is willing to respect her and bow down to her. Especially the opening scene where by Sansa pardons sir Jamie on brienes word and Jon agrees.

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 09:36

Comment posted from other thread, because I want someone to answer my last question plz.

"Also cried for Brienne. Was v keen for them to go for the Brienne/Tormund/Jaime love triangle and v happy that they’ve gone all in. Poor Tormund was never going to have a chance - which is as it should be of course, just because he wants her doesn’t mean he’s entitled to her.

I can’t remember whether they’ve done the backstory in the TV show for why Brienne is so guarded about her love for Jaime because of the men mocking her or whether that’s just the books?"

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 22/04/2019 09:36

That might be my favourite ever episode. But it was also a line up of 'remember him? You like him. Going to die then'

Middleoftheroad · 22/04/2019 09:36

Ooh, nice Theory Lazy

There's talk (as mentioned upthread) that the NK is on his way to King's Landing, but now I'm thinking about him in the Crypt and just who could be resurrected....

Middleoftheroad · 22/04/2019 09:39

Yes, this has been covered in the series - it makes her even more endearing. I think Jamie prompted this by ribbing her about her unrequited love for Renly.

TakenForSlanted · 22/04/2019 09:41

I thought gilly looked pregnant

I actually thought Daenerys looked pregnant in some shots - but I may be biased because I'm firmly counting on this one happening, given all the foreshadowing in season 7.

And, talking of pregnancy and the road thereto: I'm officially nominating Arya and Gendry for least sexy sex scene in all of GoT to date. Which is saying something ... just, NO!

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 09:42

Although now I think about, where's Viserion?? The NK would be on him..?
