Ep 2 "A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms"

I loved the Danny and Sansa scene, and cried at the Brienne scene. I thought Danny would take Jons news better, oh dear...

And Arya and Gendry! I predicted it and yet was still surprised.

Is anyone else shipping Theon and Sansa big time?

Wheresmyvagina · 22/04/2019 09:44

I thought gendry was trying to put some passion in but I just think Maisie Williams isn't experienced enough as an actor yet to pull off sexual chemistry. Also Arya is a bit of a sociopath but even so.

ppppppickupapenguin · 22/04/2019 09:45

Loved this episode, so much better than episode 1.
I may be alone in this but I hope Dany dies, I used to love her but not anymore.
Can’t wait till the battle next week but I think a lot of characters are going to die.
My predictions are; Brienne, Podrick, Davos, Theon, Tormund, Jorah and Lady Lyanna.

Who are your predictions?

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 09:51

Also, do we now know how Pod got the uhum, freebie, that time? Did he sing for his ladies? I thought that was great.

I wonder if Gendry will fall for Arya, only for her it to have just been a shag for her. Will she break his heart, like Lyanna did Roberts? Was it Davos that hid Gendry and made sure he had a good trade?

I am not sure I like the Gendry/Arya stuff. I remember thinking back in season 3 that, if her character was older, they would be a good match as they got on so well and cared for each other. But now it feels a bit of a cliche pandering to the fans of them getting together rather than a natural development of the characters. I think I would have preferred them to slip back into friendship or to get together once all the fighting is done (would require both to survive).

Brienne scene was lovely.

Am fairly certain we are going to have a lot of deaths next week and of some of the 'nicest' characters - far too much reminiscing/bonding/future planning for them all to now live. I think I am going to need a big box of tissues.

I also think the safe crypts is signposting for something bad happening down there. Then again I read somewhere that they have been making comparisons to the battle of Helms Deep in the Two Towers were the women and children are hidden underground (and they do survive but only after a suicide ride out by the heroes and a timely last minute save). I can see the Helms Deep scenario and outcome working in this GoT plotline.

I am finding myself curiously uninvested in what happens between Jon and Dany and how they settle which one has the better claim but then she has never been one of my favourite characters.

No way Grey Worm makes it out of there alive after all that "growing old" talk.

Jamie won't make it: if he does and the humans survive it'll be him vs Cersei next and that can't happen because it'd mess with his redemption arch, big time. Remember, GoT was never simply about good vs evil and he can't simply live on, switch loyalties and be his old self after several seasons of turning into a non-odious human.

Potentially Theon, pretty much for the same reason - he's both a Greyjoy and a Stark. He's done the Greyjoy redemption, he's obviously about to do the Stark one and become disposable.

Brienne, because she's been knighted.

The Hound will live because they will do Cleganebowl at some point. It's basically guaranteed fanservice (not a fan of this particular subplot, but I see it happening).

The little girl who wanted to fight, with the scarred face. Ser Davos was thinking of Shireen when he saw her wasn't he? Almost like he had seen a ghost. Could she be the red woman in disguise?

InterdimensionalHoleOfPancakes · 22/04/2019 09:59

Shireen's music was playing during this scene Smile

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 10:01

I think ep 3 will be Helms Deep like, then they'll have to evacuate or move south at some point towards the end/in ep 4. Will an unexpected host arrive in their hour of need? That happened in the battle of the bastards though...

If the army of the dead gets far enough South for KL to be threatened, only Harrenhal would be big enough to host all the fighting age men (and women..?) of the realm? Or to hold the evacuees of the city?

OP posts:
TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 10:04

If KL has over a million inhabitants, how many tens or hundreds of thousands would be children? Will the people of the city hear reports from further North, and over throw Cersei?

Ooohhhh interdimensional I didn't even notice the music! So my money is on Melisandre (disguised as scarred girl/ghost of Shireen) will use her magic to raise a dragon (?) in the crypt. Isn't there a legend that the hot springs of Winterfell are heated by a buried dragon?

MyOtherProfile · 22/04/2019 10:42

Hadn't noticed the music either but then I never do. Glad someone pointed it out.

fancynancyclancy · 22/04/2019 10:52

I think it’s the other way around. I think Jaime will die in her arms. I think this too.

It feels really unfair that the dead aren’t coming for Cersai so i’m hoping the NK is heading there.

Feel something is defo going to happen in the crypt.

MyOtherProfile · 22/04/2019 10:58

Quick question. Our now subscription runs out this week and we didn't plan to renew it but of course if we don't we can't watch the last 4 eps. The series will definitely end on 20 May I guess?

Wheresmyvagina · 22/04/2019 11:04

Presumably it will

onceandneveragain · 22/04/2019 11:13

Yes plan to end on 20 may.i really appreciate now tv and being able to watch it any time after 2am rather than waiting until 9pm! The brief trailer for episode 3 Is out....Dany basically spoils what is going to happen in the crypts..."the dead are already here." Think it's supposed to be 88 minutes long! (So long enough for lots of deaths Shock)

OneInAMillionYou · 22/04/2019 11:14

Thanks for the new thread.

Enjoyed this episode much more than the opener, except for Arya and Gendry. That felt so forced and I would rather not have seen it!

ppppppickupapenguin · 22/04/2019 11:15

I was glad to see Ghost back but it was very underwhelming that we didn’t see a proper reunion between him and Jon

fancynancyclancy · 22/04/2019 11:15

Oh yes & Ghost was there, although it was very much Ghost has always been there

OneInAMillionYou · 22/04/2019 11:17

Also, I am so over Jon and Dany, in fact I'm over Dany full stop. She only spoke to Sansa because Jorah advised it, and turned as soon as the conversation didn't go her way.

PS, what does 'ship' mean in the context of a relationship? It's young vernacular I'm sure but I don't have a clue! 😀

fancynancyclancy · 22/04/2019 11:17

Dany basically spoils what is going to happen in the crypts..."the dead are already here 😳😳

Wheresmyvagina · 22/04/2019 11:27

It just means you love and support a romantic relationship between characters, even if they don't have one in the original story (used in the context of fan fiction)

fancynancyclancy · 22/04/2019 11:28

Lots of chat around Pods song & the Prince who was promised.

Middleoftheroad · 22/04/2019 11:29

"The dead are already here."
Who could be resurrected in the crypt? Who has Arya running so terrified (no coincidence she has her new weapon with her).

ElenadeClermont · 22/04/2019 11:35

Shipping is to hope that they end up together.

Can't wait to see Brienne knighted. I also think that Jaime will die, but I was hoping Brienne would have her baby.

Seeing the love between Sansa and Theon, after all they have both experienced and survived was very touching. I have a small theory formulating that they will be the last two standing, but unable to produce heirs, the seven kingdoms and possibly human kind will end with them.
I disagree. Gilly and little Sam would survive a nuclear winter.

They always hinted in the books that there is something in the crypts. Isn't there an underground network amongst the weirwood groves / sacred sites?
If the Night king is a Stark, he might have a special connection to the place.
