Ep 2 "A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms"

I loved the Danny and Sansa scene, and cried at the Brienne scene. I thought Danny would take Jons news better, oh dear...

And Arya and Gendry! I predicted it and yet was still surprised.

Maybe the dead starks will fight against the baddies?

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 17:23

I wonder if everyone in the crypts will die? And there will be a massacre of the most vulnerable and innocent? But would that be shocking enough to be the red wedding type shocker?

Something really grim is bound to happen, but what? I still think there's a chance Euron might attempt to abort Cersei's baby (or indeed succeed?), if she is still pregnant.

I also wonder if Bronn could be related to one of the wildlings (and is an escaped one himself). Maybe Ed, the current Lord Commander of the nights watch, a confirmed escaped wildling.

Should of clarified when I said about the Stark's in the crypts and who was even there I was thinking on Ned, Catelyn and rob the recent deaths people were thinking that Arya was running from her family brought back but im not sure how many of them are actually there but I didn't really male that clear apologies
Apparently next week is the longest at 90 mins so hopefully we should have lots of pieces start clicking into place

I definitely think the NK is/was a Stark

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 17:51

I think the NK could be an Umber?

Google tells me, "House Umber is an ancient house who once ruled asFirst MenKings. After many struggles, the Umbers were reduced from Royals to vassals ofHouse Stark, theKings of Winter."

I wonder if Crastor was and Gilly is related to NK? Will he still want to take/turn little Sam? But little Sam isn't little Sam? He's really Mance's son? Have Gilly and he been reunited yet? I was so angry when Jon asked her switch them, instead of pretending they were twins or that one was a nephew or whatever, and letting her take both.

I'd totally forgotten about all that until now.

ClashCityRocker · 22/04/2019 18:10

I had too, theLazyDuchess....

What happened to Gilly's son in the end? I can't remember. There's so many sub plots! I should've watched the previous series again before starting this one.

fancynancyclancy · 22/04/2019 18:14

?? I thought the baby was Gillys son? What happrnec

ClashCityRocker · 22/04/2019 18:14

I've got a bad feeling about Bran this next episode. He's on my personal list of characters most likely to die, because he's far too useful (not that they've been making too much use of him, bar Tyrion taking an interest in his story). I suspect he might well have disclosed something vital to Tyrion, so that's him corked it.

I really hope the night king/white walker problem isn't resolved in the next episode, I think that will be a bit of a climax. And I want to see cersei and the pound shop pirate meet the White walkers. Off to check the episode list for clues.

ClashCityRocker · 22/04/2019 18:16

fancy I might be muddled up between the book and film, but Gilly's son was swapped for mance raydors son... Because mance was king beyond the wall, and therefore had Kings blood, so the melisandre wanted to sacrifice him. I think it was in part a deal to get the Wildings on side, or mance onside.

TheFirstOHN · 22/04/2019 18:32

Last night, to avoid seeing spoilers today, I hid the two most recent GoT threads (S8 speculation thread with possible spoilers and S8E1 thread). I've just seen E2 so I can unhide them now, but can't find them (facepalm).

Would it be possible for someone to link to them please.

Wheresmyvagina · 22/04/2019 18:41

In the book Gilly took Mance Rayder's son pretending he was hers, and left her son in his place. In the show they have completely skipped that (stupid) plotline

TheFirstOHN · 22/04/2019 18:45

Thank you TheLadyDuchess

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 18:46

I thought they did include it? Was that not why she was crying on the boat to Oldtown?

OP posts:
TheFirstOHN · 22/04/2019 18:49

It was all so poignant - and we are clearly being set up for a good number of them to die next week.

fancynancyclancy · 22/04/2019 18:53

ClashCityRocker I’ve not read up to that point in the books, so does that mean that Gillys real son in the books is dead?

Wheresmyvagina · 22/04/2019 18:57

It's definitely not in the show

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 18:57

Sorry if I have got mixed up, that scene is so vivid in my head, I thought I'd seen, not just read it Confused. And there's still the chance that in that storyline in the books, it was a double bluff, or more to it again. Nothing is ever simple in this series, I hope there are some good twists ahead.

OP posts:
ClashCityRocker · 22/04/2019 19:00

Sorry, a quick Google confirms its just in the book.... I swear I can remember Jon snow having a conversation about it though 🤔 🤔 🤔

No, in the books I think Gilly's kid is still at Castle Black.

TheLazyDuchess · 22/04/2019 19:02

So little Sam is little Sam, and a possible target of the NK's and his minions (some of whom could be Gillys brothers?).

Is that what made the NK so strong again? Being able to create more white walkers instead of just wights?

I wonder whether the return of the White Walkers is due to the same cause as the return of the dragons - the return of magic to the world after a lengthy decline.

My guess is that the series will end with no magic at all and no magic related creatures.

Loved episode 2 - best episode for several seasons.

DesdemonasHandkerchief · 22/04/2019 19:43

Ned's remains were brought back to Winterfell but a reanimated headless corpse wouldn't really work and carrying his decaying head under his arm would be too Harry Potter/comedic.
