Ep 2 "A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms"

I loved the Danny and Sansa scene, and cried at the Brienne scene. I thought Danny would take Jons news better, oh dear...

And Arya and Gendry! I predicted it and yet was still surprised.

  1. Not sure why it is soon in the season.
  2. Yes. Also sound not great
  3. Expect lots to die next time,!

I think it has come so soon because I'm not sure it is the only big battle of this season!

We are only half way for this season so I agree it's early for the major battle, but I think this fight might be a bit of a red herring! I'm sure there will be deaths and I think some of those will be fairly big hitters But I don't think this battle will be endgame for any of our main hero's (Jon, Danny, Sansa or Tyrion) or night king for that mater. It's to early for that in my opinion.

And while I hope/think a battle with Cersei for the throne isn't how the story ends. She has brought the golden company over. They aren't involved in the battle of winterfell so there must be another reason Cersei wants them I think we will see a second battle yet.

SapatSea · 28/04/2019 13:01

Cersei has said she wants the others to be decimated fighting the undead and then if they win she will mop them up or if the undead win then she'll face them. So another battle is definitely on the cards.

I think a few seasons back Dany had a vision of walking through the great hall at Kings landingand it was all burnt and ashes.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 28/04/2019 15:42

I'm wondering if something is going to happen to raise an undead army against the Night King, with all the old Starks fighting for the living.

I was reading something yesterday that drew parallels with this and the Dead of Dunharrow in LOTR. Martin is a huge Tolkien geek, so could that be where we are heading?

I'm starting to think Targaryens are a bit like pandas - too awkward to survive long

TheABC · 28/04/2019 16:03

I have just re-watched the episode. There are some nice parallels to previous scenes between characters and a lot of threads tied off.

My problem is that I can't see how anyone is going to survive according to Game of Thrones logic. There's too many wights and the Nights King is hard as flipping nails. Unless Bran can pull something magical out of the bag, the living at Winterfell are toast.

The only thing that gives me hope is the fact that if everyone dies on Monday, there's no more story. And with five (?) more to go, it's going to be crap story telling if we spend the next few weeks
just watching Cersai be smug.

Any episode leakage, no way can I stay up till 2

Figgygal · 28/04/2019 21:17

Theabc there's only 3 more left after tonight

Clash late to the thread but I'm going to be super geeky here; in Targ history there's a pattern whenever a Targaryen marries out with the family. The first child always, without fail takes after the other family, while subsequent children have the silver hair and often violet eyes of the Targs.
So Rhegar's first child, princess Rhaenys had a Dornish look, while Aegon (the first one) looked like a Targ.
Similarly Baelor Breakspear's mother was a Martell, and he looked like her, but his subsequent brothers were silver hairs.
It's an interesting genetic quirk GRRM has built into the dynasty

Thank you Sweetsummerchild

I have created the new thread for Episode 3.

I don't know how to link to it, but it is on the first page of Telly Addicts.

I've got that churning feeling in my stomach. Never been so invested in a television episode. See you on the other side.
