GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8. Possible spoilers

Given we are only a week away from the final season, I thought we should have a shiny new thread to discuss the episodes as they are broadcast.

Anyone else going to be starting their watch at 2 am on Monday 15th?

I've watched the trailers and teasers dozens of times, and I am READY!

I have a theory that the Battle for Winterfell in Ep 3 will be lost, and they will have to move south, re assemble at Dragonstone or Kings Landing. After all, here are three episodes to fill after that!

I'm not going to stay up until 2am because I would be too tired to enjoy it properly. Luckily I'm not working tomorrow, so can watch it when I get up.

My usual habit is to check social media when I wake up, so I must remember not to do that on Monday mornings.

OneInAMillionYou · 14/04/2019 14:23

I'm very often awake at that time anyway. I've cleared my diary for tomorrow and plan to repeat watch it until I fall asleep 😀

12 hours to go..

I was talking to DD about this yesterday.

I don't think it will happen, but I would LOVE to find out that Tyrian has been a double agent all along, and that the 3 Lanesters are in cahoots together. They'll let Dani & Jon pair up, then wipe them out together, before returning to the throne room where Cersei sits on the throne, looks at her brothers and says "well played".

agirlhasnonameX · 14/04/2019 15:11

I'm watching season 7 again with DP and DB, staying up till 2am, drinking wine from goblets and eating chicken and black bacon with our fingers.
Yes that sad. It's been the longest 2 years of my life GrinGrinGrin

agirlhasnonameX · 14/04/2019 15:13

Oh and lemon cakes OBVIOUSLY

AGirlHasNoShame · 14/04/2019 15:53

I'm sooo excited! I've been overthinking about whether to stay up to watch at 2am and be knackered all day tomorrow. Watch in the morning when I'm all groggy and not quite taking it in or waiting till tomorrow night when DD is in bed where I can give it my full attention but have to avoid spoilers all day 😩 ahhhh first world problems!!!

OneInAMillionYou · 14/04/2019 16:14

KickAssAngel that is quite some theory! Tyrion did have meetings with both Cersei and Jaime in S7, so they could have discussed all sorts. If I remember correctly, he was majorly pissed off when Dany burnt the Tarlys and all the Lannister soldiers, unnecessarily in his view.

He probably also feels quite displaced by Jon Snow.

I agree about the hiatus being the longest two years!

I was a latecomer to Thrones, watching them all when I was laid up after an op in 2016. I watched them over and over, although I have skipped a lot of the torture, and the bloody High Sparrow and Faith Militant episodes which were so tedious in my view.

My favourite episode was Arya returning to Winterfell. I sobbed my heart out.
Please share favourite episodes to keep us going for the next ten hours 😀

Haven't read the thread as I'm avoiding proper spoilers but my predictions are:

  1. Tyrion is obviously in madly in love with Daenerys (You can see this throughout season 7 his direction was obviously 'you love this woman but know you can never have her' at one point he advises her after she's dismissed her lover "He isn't the first to fall in love with you, and he won't be the last" While his face screams 'me I'm in love with you too!', and he is a broken man when he observes Jon Snow enter her cabin in the last episode of the season) and will confess this whilst dying in her arms having been heroic in her service. As one of the best loved characters he has to die to ensure our heartstrings are well and truly tugged and there isn't a dry eye in the house!
(Although I'd much prefer him to end up with Sansa, they're still technically married and he's wonderful!)

  2. Jorah will similarly die fighting for Daenarys, his love remaining unrequited till the end. I also think Davis Seaworth, the Onion Knight's, days are numbered but I hope not.

  3. The female dragon will survive and be pregnant.

  4. At the end of season seven Jamie was able to see Cersei for what she was and leave her, however he still loves her and she's carrying his child. He will fight for the alliance against the army of the dead but won't be able to harm his sister, she on the other hand won't hesitate to have him killed, as predicted by Olenna Tyrell "Your sister has done things I wasn't capable of imagining. That was my prize mistake, a failure of imagination. She's a monster, you do know that? You love her, you really do love her. She'll be the end of you."

  5. The Hound will kill the Mountain in a bloody Clegane battle, but it will leave him mortally wounded, Arya will save him from certain death to repay her debt to him.

  6. Beric has run out of lives and will die, but only after doing something monumental, otherwise why have him resurrected so many times.

  7. It will somehow come down to a 'Mano a Mano' show down between Jon Snow and the Night King. JS will win and survive but only just.

  8. Theon will rescue Yara and kill his uncle and get his mojo back. (Not a euphemism)

  9. Daenerys will somehow manage to be pregnant despite the prophecy that this would only happen "When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leaves." It will transpire that the above will happen in the final battle but me metaphorical i.e. sun rising in the West could be a fireball or the sigil of House Dorne, seas go dry - sea ablaze with wild fire which is extinguished with sand.

  10. Brienne and Tormund will I hope end up together, they deserve a happy ending.

  11. The two surviving dire wolves Nymeria and Ghost will put in an appearance assisting Arya and Jon Snow and at least one of them will pay with their lives.

  12. Jon Snow (aka Aegon Targaryen) and Daenarys will ultimately rule the seven kingdoms as spoilered by the book series title A Song Of Ice (Him) and Fire (Her).

  13. Cersei and Qyburn will meet grisly ends.

  14. Given Sansa's tragic story arc I hope she will survive, however she may avoid marriage in the future it hasn't worked out to well for her in the past.

TheFirstOHN · 14/04/2019 16:28

One of my favourite episodes is Eastwatch (S7) for all the reunions and meetings between characters you never thought you'd see in the same room together.

CarolDanvers · 14/04/2019 16:31

I’d love to join you all on here, but I record all the episodes then watch back to back so will be off MN and all social media for the duration. The only time I ever regretted this was when I watched The Red Wedding and was beside myself but everyone else was like “oh yeah that” because they were over it.

CarolDanvers · 14/04/2019 16:34

The two surviving dire wolves Nymeria and Ghost will put in an appearance assisting Arya and Jon Snow and at least one of them will pay with their lives

The problem is that their fates are linked so whatever happens to the dire wolf must happen to their master/mistress Sad

DesdemonasHandkerchief · 14/04/2019 16:37

But Carol, Lady had her throat cut by Ned Stark in season one and Sansa is still with us.

AGirlHasNoShame · 14/04/2019 16:45

Desdemona all the dragons are male Smile great post though. Some interesting ideas.

One of my favourite episodes is Hardhome, the ending is spot on, no dialogue, complete silence and you are still sitting there completely open mouthed. Well you are if you are me

agirlhasnonameX · 14/04/2019 16:51

Battle of the bastards is my favourite episode.
That and S4 episode 1. "What the fucks a lommy"

agirlhasnonameX · 14/04/2019 16:51

Also summer is dead and Bran is still here too.

CarolDanvers · 14/04/2019 17:18

Yes, Lady was killed and Sansa was no longer the silly young girl she had been. She began to grow up from that point. Lady was killed as a puppy. That was a symbolic separation. Bran is no longer Bran, he is the three eyed raven so Summer died. Robb was beheaded as was his dire wolf. Shaggy Dog was killed, shortly followed by Rickon. Nymeria is out in the wild as was Arya but still alive. There’s that scene where Arya sees her but says “no that’s not you” because that’s not Arya either, Arya is a faceless no one girl. Ghost is alive and fighting alongside Jon.

eternalopt · 14/04/2019 17:34

Disagree with Jamie not being able to hurt Cersei. I think he's going to be the younger brother that kills her, not Tyrion

Springiscomingsoon · 14/04/2019 17:37

Hello all! I'm watching tomoro eve but will look forward to reading everyone's opinions.

DesdemonasHandkerchief · 14/04/2019 17:39

AGirl - bummer, no baby dragons 🐉

DesdemonasHandkerchief · 14/04/2019 17:43

Carol that makes sense, but I definitely think Nymeria will turn up at some opportune moment to save Arya. The meeting in the Forest was a reminder that she's still out there and on some level remembers Arya, so hopefully they'll both survive.

BelfastBloke · 14/04/2019 17:48

Im on the Now TV app.

Am I correct in remembering that I don't have to watch it live at 2am? Once it's broadcast at 2am, it's then available on catch-up, right?

I don't have to make a choice between Monday 2am (US broadcast) and Monday 9pm (UK broadcast), right?

I can watch it on catch-up at the more civilised Monday 7am, right?

DesdemonasHandkerchief · 14/04/2019 17:48

Good shout Spring, I didn't know there had been a prophecy that Cersei would be killed by a younger brother. (Presumably Jamie born first?) that would certainly be a twist in the tale.

CarolDanvers · 14/04/2019 17:52

@DesdemonasHandkerchief I think so too. I think on some level she did recognise Arya but Arya is a faceless girl now, no one, so Nymeria couldn't quite connect. I have spent way too much time thinking about this Grin but it was the dire wolves that really sucked me in and I do love them. I remember watching episode one with half an eye and then they found the puppies and I was in.

DesdemonasHandkerchief · 14/04/2019 18:04

Love the dire wolves too 🐺
And that should say 'Cersei born first?' not Jamie, I've looked it up and she was born first making Jamie the younger brother by minutes. The plot thickens!
