GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8. Possible spoilers

Given we are only a week away from the final season, I thought we should have a shiny new thread to discuss the episodes as they are broadcast.

Anyone else going to be starting their watch at 2 am on Monday 15th?

I've watched the trailers and teasers dozens of times, and I am READY!

I have a theory that the Battle for Winterfell in Ep 3 will be lost, and they will have to move south, re assemble at Dragonstone or Kings Landing. After all, here are three episodes to fill after that!

Did people really not like the episode? I thought it was practically perfect (my only grumble was it was too dark!!) I thought it was the best episode of anything I've ever seen!
The ending was just perfect and the foreshadowing was brilliant, bran giving Arya the dagger in the godswood, Arya sneaking up on Jon there too. Loved it, hope the rest of the series is as good as the previous 3 episodes.

TheweewitchRoz · 30/04/2019 13:08

I agree @Thegreymethod

JasperRising · 30/04/2019 13:21

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole that video is mad! As are the theories in the comments. A bit of me would love it to be true but I think it might be a step too twisty in the world of plot twists for littlefinger to be alive. I have no memory of that scene with the blonde woman and the coin though. If there is such a large plot twist I think it would need to be a bit better signposted or a lot of people will be annoyed. It's a bit like crime dramas where the murderer turns out to be the random character who appeared for one scene and never since so you could never have solved it yourself. At least that's how I would feel!

I have loved some of the theories around GoT, such attention to detail in the books and show! Some of them would even be better than the show. I guess it's the nice thing about a show which is still classic episode per week release rather than all at once - it gives you time to speculate before the next episode (though I am also impatient so if episode 4 were on Friday I wouldn't complain!)

NunoGoncalves · 30/04/2019 14:27

I liked it being Arya but agree that the night king and his army being defeated so quickly feels like an anti-climax. They've been hyped as the big bad for so long, I honestly thought he'd lose this battle but escape to either win the series or be killed in the finale. I felt a little like "oh, that's it?" at the end. Now we're back to Cersei vs. Dany again?

NunoGoncalves · 30/04/2019 14:28

If that was Dany's dragon that came back to her at the end (meaning it survived the attack by the horde) then where is Jon's? I'm pretty sure they're both still alive, right?

JasperRising · 30/04/2019 14:29

NunoGoncalves I am confused by the dragons too! I thought Jon's might have died but now I'm not sure

NunoGoncalves · 30/04/2019 14:35

I think they'd have shown it more/made it more of a thing if one had died.

Plus, with their armies decimated, I think they're going to want more of Dany and Jon riding around burning shit together. Who doesn't?!

Aberforthsgoat · 30/04/2019 14:44

I thought Rhaegal (jon’s Dragon) was injured whichis why he crash landed but definitely didn’t think he was dead.

I agree with the army issue - I hope they don’t do the thing where they magically still have a large army to take on kings landing next episode as that will be a bit Hmm

Lweji · 30/04/2019 14:50

I suspect they will kill the dragons at the end, possibly leaving a few eggs behind (or not).
So, will it be Cersei, or will they have a huge dragon vs dragon fight?

Honeyroar · 30/04/2019 14:52

I agree too Thegreymethod. I absolutely loved it.

They really need to rely on the dragons at Kings Landing. Dany's going to have to teach them to zig zag to avoid the scorpions!

Aberforthsgoat · 30/04/2019 15:09

Just had a thought - wonder what happened to all the wight babies [or were they white walker babies] - I mean there must be some that are still babies...or would they have disappeared when the night king died like all the others? I suppose they would have!

I did really enjoy it, even more so on a second watch.
I like the Arya saved/helped the Hound when he was retreating by shooting her flaming arrow, and then he was galvanised into action when he saw her in trouble...
So many great little details, I sort of want to geek out completely and write a huge list of all of the things I loved!

Honeyroar · 30/04/2019 15:17

I was just wondering the same thing about the babies earlier, but I presume they all disappeared when the night King died.

shirleyschmidt · 30/04/2019 22:33

Absolutely LOVED it!! Was worried it wouldn't meet my very high expectations but it smashed it! Loved the Arya twist, shocking yet somehow fitting. Best tv I've ever seen 😊

I'm glad they didn't drag the battle out beyond one episode. There'd already been a big battle with the Night King already in series 5 and again at the end of S7. They did justice to his character by having him take out a dragon and decimate the greatest army the world has ever seen, but it had to end somehow. There is still unfinished business in the south!

Best bit the Dothraki charge, and it perfectly tied up the arcs of Theon, Jorah and Melisandre. Loved it loved it!

BlackCatSleeping · 01/05/2019 15:47

Finally watched it! I thought it was absolutely amazing, but I'm thoroughly wiped out after watching it. I need time to process it all.

I don't know how my nerves will last through three more episodes.

I'm really glad Grey Worm survived. They were definitely teasing for his death.

I think the two dragons are still alive, but I really have no confidence in this.

DocMarteens · 02/05/2019 16:58

What a great episode and it's really got me back into the season. Let's see who is going to die and be killed by whom. This is GoT at its best!!

MaddieElla · 02/05/2019 17:18

Just seen this on Facebook. Eeeeeeek.

MyOtherProfile · 02/05/2019 17:31

That pic can't be from ep 5 though can it? I thought he was dead...

Robin2323 · 02/05/2019 17:38

That's from episode 3.

TanselleTooTall · 02/05/2019 18:45

I see it as they've used a still from the epic episode 3 and captioning underneath that episode 5 will knock its socks off and if you thought the above ^ was great, you haven't seen anything yet. Kind of thing.

TanselleTooTall · 02/05/2019 18:47

I was really impressed with Dany not hesitating to fight alongside Jorah. She's never picked up a knife before or been trained but she was really, really courageous. It made me cry fat tears hearing her whimpering and sobbing at Jorah's death, it was so heartfelt and real. Then Drogon finished me off mourning with his mum. Sad

MaddieElla · 02/05/2019 20:13

Yes, they aren’t suggesting that that is a still from episode 5 Confused

She was in an interview saying it will knock our socks off. FB have just used a still from an episode we’ve seen.

MaddieElla · 02/05/2019 20:14

Or what Tanselle said Grin

TanselleTooTall · 02/05/2019 20:43

MyOtherProfile · 02/05/2019 21:44

Got it! Grin

ElektraLOL · 04/05/2019 18:46

OMG I'm so proud of Arya - she has been my favourite character since season 1!

Also agree about Dany fighting alongside Jorah. To be worthy of the Iron Throne I think she needed to do this - it sets her completely apart from Cersei and adds massively to her credentials of true leader.
