Seeing that we are going to be in need of a third thread... My title makes no sense, does it? I had a funny one in mind earlier but it escapes me now. Should have used hot glue gun to make it stick.

Thanks, dillite for starting a new thread Smile.

I loved Riccardo's coat and want one! He is definitely a contender to win I think. I didn't like the two colours of Jen's coat; they didn't go together, they jarred. Linen is a nice idea but I wouldn't wear it, so irritating when it creases.

My facebook came up with a link to an interview by Patrick. Something about tayloring and tweed, but then it disappeared (bloody Facebook) and now I can't find it Sad anyone else seen it?

CaptainMyCaptain · 23/03/2019 08:04

Amber Butchart does have the second best job in the world but the person with the best job must be Lucy Worsley - dressing up and prancing about in castles. So jealous of her - never mind all the hard work, PhD, and all that.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/03/2019 09:13

Oh, Captain

I'd forgotten Lucy Worsley!

And she probably gets a Hairslides Budget, too! You're right! She beats Amber Butchart into her own cocked turban!

olafolaf · 23/03/2019 20:01

Cocked turban

I have not been able to keep up to date with these threads as I catch up with the latest ep at the weekend. Can I just say how much I’m loving it and I feel that the right person has left each time. I agree that Ricardo is a real contender. I think very highly of Juliette but tailoring is not her thing.

CaptainMyCaptain · 24/03/2019 20:02

I'm following them all on instagram and loving that not only are they all friends and go out together but Rahul from Bake Off follows them too (and vice versa).

JasperRising · 24/03/2019 20:57

I have been lurking on these threads and was wondering if anyone can tell me if they have the same model every week (kids and menswear weeks excepted)? I have it in my head that they have a different model each week but then how was Jen supposed to know that she shouldn't choose a raglan sleeve (surely they can't have expected her to change the whole pattern when she met her model?). I seem to forget between weeks what their model the previous week looked like Blush

Halsall · 24/03/2019 21:03

Yes, it's the same model every time, Jasper

JasperRising · 24/03/2019 21:16

Thanks! That must help with getting the fit right in later episodes (no idea where I got the idea they changed models from)

Iwantacampervan · 24/03/2019 21:41

Jasper In the final they've often had friends & family - one year it was a surprise, they had been given the measurements in advance but had no idea who it would be.

PrivateIsles · 25/03/2019 08:32

I remember that camper - and the woman who won (Anne??) said "these are very strange measurements" or something, and it turned out to be her daughter! Anne was great (if that was actually her name!...)

CaptainMyCaptain · 25/03/2019 08:58

Yes, it was. She was in her 80s and was responsible for me starting sewing again. I made most of my own clothes as a teenager and well into my 30s then had a gap and started again after the First Series.

DarlingNikita · 25/03/2019 12:19

Schadenfreude, I know. I feel like I could practically have her round for dinner. Grin

Actually I'd be too intimidated. She's so perfectly turned out and I wear no make-up, have terrible hair and, on the night in question, had on an old jumper and unremarkable, slightly saggy-kneed jeans.

High-five, Schadenfreude Grin

dontcallmelen · 25/03/2019 17:44

Uatu that skirt is sooo pretty.

Halsall · 26/03/2019 08:45

A couple of weeks ago I was channel-surfing and, totally by chance, that final episode of the first series of Sewing Bee was on. It was so funny and touching (tears were shed on both sides) when they brought out their relatives as the final models.

And yes, Ann was just superb. Her winning piece was a cocktail dress with a lace overlay which was totally centred and symmetrical

JasperRising · 26/03/2019 18:54

I found that series 1 episode too. Only watched the first challenge so far. It seemed a bit more serious in tone than now but maybe that's just it being the final. Loved Ann using 19th century forceps (I think she said?!) to do the points in her collar.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/03/2019 18:56

Only two hours to go!

CosmicVagina · 26/03/2019 19:26

Checking in!

DolorestheNewt · 26/03/2019 19:30

My people! I found you!

DolorestheNewt · 26/03/2019 19:33

Sorry, slightly overexcited. I haven't ever followed a MN telly thread before and I only started watching SB this time, so it's my new favourite thing.
Totally agree with everyone who thought Riccardo's coat was DIVINE, Janet's was great except for the applique patches - I loved her bound seams. Loved Riccardo's knickerbockers, would have liked Leah's coat had she not stuffed up the collar - I love a swing coat and red and camel is a great colour combo.
Can't remember Juliette's coat, but her dress from lace curtains was one of the most bogging things I've ever seen, and she's way too keen on lacing/caging/whatever you call it for my taste.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/03/2019 19:40

Welcome Cosmic Dolores

It's good to get here early for a decent seat.
