Seeing that we are going to be in need of a third thread... My title makes no sense, does it? I had a funny one in mind earlier but it escapes me now. Should have used hot glue gun to make it stick.

Ha, sorry, x-post with dillite ! Really pleased for Juliet, very well deserved.

dillite · 02/04/2019 22:07

I will make sure to show you the finished items. Seeing that I have shown you my journey so far.

Look forward to seeing the finished creations.

Leah has on her Instagram about it being character building and witnessing the light and dark side of social media Sad but all the Bees are still friends Smile.
Lovely to see the baby scan

Our sewing bee cocktail party put on by the local sewing shop was a sell out. They took over a cocktail bar with loads of TVs. I knew no-one except the women from the shop but found friendly women to chat to on the comfy sofas. We had a make challenge where 3 teams of 4 had to make a costume out of loo rolls I won a prize for my jacket and dress I'd made. We all had to pick our winner and there was a raffle from the winning jar (I picked Ricardo who had a disastrous evening. What woman wants to look like a jellyfish ffs!). Entry included a cocktail and goody bag. Brilliant.

I'm just catching up and haven't read the thread yet but Leah's transformation challenge looked like something we used to make when we dressed up as kids - it was awful!

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/04/2019 13:59

Juliette deserved to win, I've always liked her makes throughout the show although I also love Ricardo. I was crying in sympathy with Juliette's really, messy, snotty crying. She was genuinely emotional.

I've been following all the Bees on Instagram, they've all kept the secret very well.

2rebecca · 03/04/2019 15:52

Thanks, it was a great evening. Agree Juliette was best on the day. Ricardo should have ignored Joe and gone with long and elegant and no silly collar in his make challenge. Wish they had told Esme where she can put her silly oversized bows as well. Juliette was good at designing stuff a woman might choose to wear and avoided the one shoulder stuff last night. I liked Leah's ball dress too. Riccardo's looked more like the sort of thing an ugly sister would show up in than Cindrella.

Monkseal's Series 5 swansong

Haggisfish · 04/04/2019 20:37

God I just watched final-I’m a snivelling wreck! Loved this series.

LoversLane · 05/04/2019 04:29

I managed to do a Likely Lads and avoided all news about who won until I caught up yesterday. Admittedly it doesn’t have the viewing numbers of bake off and hence didn’t make national news!

The right person won on the day. I clocked Juliette from day 1 and was pretty sure she’d win but I was firmly rooting for Riccardo and gutted he had such an off day after the amazing origami creation the week before. His final dress was rather grim, but well fitted, I just found Juliette so predictable. The final montage was lovely.

I will miss this so much. Sewing Bee is like a nice warm hug.

Ulysses · 05/04/2019 06:02

@2Rebecca I was there too and am in that picture! I remember you and your fabulous jacket. I was drooling over your gathering with some other guests. It was a great night and I wasn't expecting so many others to be there. Incidentally, it was my team that won the transformation challenge [twirls]!

Ulysses · 05/04/2019 06:04

Juliette was a strong steady winner from the start, but there was something about Riccardo that made me warm to him more and more as the weeks went on. I do love Leah's dress sense though and that dress she made and wore in the final was beautiful.

Ulysses · 05/04/2019 06:07

I meant the dress she herself wore in the final, rather than the one she made for her sister. I thought the colour of that was striking but didn't like the bodice. I also thought there was something a bit off with Juliet's and agree with the judge who said the asymmetry should have been more exaggerated. Still it was the most wearable of the the three.

Blimey! That takes me back! Grin

It is a wonderful series - still as fresh now as half a century ago!
