I’ve binge watched for 2 days as I’m ill. I never tire of it. I have one niggle: about Pete and Dawn’s children. Why do they look so young in the vow renewal scene? If they were that young, they’d have been round at Pam and Mick’s all the time too.

Was a bit weird yesterday seeing Pam Ferris in G and S followed by Matilda.

My favourite characters are Ness and Bryn. I like Ness the way I liked Father Jack. Every single thing they say is funny and you just want to hear more.

I adore G&S.

I can’t help but speak like Nessa. Grin

I think the Owain Hughes is a play on words isn’t it? “Oh I own ewes” Blush

Also can’t believe I didn’t realise smithys mum is Miss Trunchbull!

I love how they call the baby Neil the baby. Grin

It's worth looking on your tube for some of smithys work on comic relief the one where he addresses the audience at sports personality is the best and gets an award for best coach.. Paula Radcliffe's face when he mentions her seeing in the street is priceless!

I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on what age it would be suitable for DCs?
My 14 year old grandson loves it.

Not sure how old you'd be to spot Nessa and her fingers, and maybe more of a women's joke all told.
This. I think a lot of men would miss it. Children wouldn't learn much new from it and would probably only laugh at things they already know about. I have watched it all several times and still find funny bits I missed before.

I think the Owain Hughes is a play on words isn’t it? “Oh I own ewes”
The writers say it is a non-joke. There is no play on words.

Tutlefru · 08/01/2019 09:34

Oh. Then in that case I’ve just made up one. Grin

BoswellsBollocks · 08/01/2019 09:38

I always walk in to my boys rooms saying “It’s me, your mother” a la Nessa 😄

ellenanora5 · 08/01/2019 10:16

When ds1 asks me for something I always say "No and I tell you for why" and he still laughs and he's 27.

I like the way Pam was Nessas mother in Fat Friends, and Nessa husband in Fat Friends was the chap who did Dawn and Petes vow renewal and Gwen showed up in Stella and of course Smithy was in Fat Friends too, he was so young in it and he turned up in Stella I think too.

I never tire of watching it, it's always great.

LuckyLou7 · 08/01/2019 12:56

@Fromage I loved Nightynight! Julia Davis is fantastic. Ruth Jones plays her best friend, if I recall correctly.

I saw Gavin and Stacey series 1 & 2 DVD set in a charity shop yesterday for 50p, and although one of my New Year's Resolutions is not to buy crap I don't need, I bought it, I did.

mrssunshinexxx · 08/01/2019 12:59

Can someone please tell me where I can watch series 4 ?!

LuckyLou7 · 08/01/2019 13:00

Oh and did anyone see Dave Coaches (Steffan Rhodri) playing DC Neil Jones in Manhunt last night? I kept telling my husband, look, it's Dave Coaches, pretending to be a policeman. He wasn't impressed.

WhenLifeGivesYouLemonsx · 08/01/2019 13:01

I love Gavin and Stacey! Ness is hilarious.

WhenLifeGivesYouLemonsx · 08/01/2019 13:03

@8DaysAWeek she was in Call The Midwife as well. Amazing actress.

WhenLifeGivesYouLemonsx · 08/01/2019 13:04

My fav bit was Pam when she said she was vegetarian but Stacey caught her eating ham lol.

SgtFredColon · 08/01/2019 13:15

Dave coaches is in one of the Harry Potters as well, Ron transfigures into him in the MoM

twosoups1972 · 08/01/2019 15:53

twosoups1972 · 08/01/2019 15:53

'You're eating ham, Pam'

twosoups1972 · 08/01/2019 15:55

'Barry's Island' Grin

There is a G&S tour you can do in Cardiff. I really want to go.

Theromanempire · 08/01/2019 16:48

So, random thought from me. Does nobody else think its strange that Mick doesn't go on his own sons stag do? I know he said it was because of something to do with Chinese Alan's but surely you would go on your own sons?? So effectively he went on one of his sons mates stag do but not his own sons? Confused

Strokethefurrywall · 08/01/2019 17:01

I live in the Caribbean and G&S is absolutely crucial watching for when I'm homesick.

I've seen it so many times! The scene with Pete trying to say his vows, fuck me I nearly died laughing.

And Nessa coming out if the changing room at the wedding gayer in the pvc:

Woman: "oh nessa... you look fabulous!"
Nessa: "I know... I feels it. But I don't need another whip"

Comedy genius and everyone can relate to at least one of the cigar tees either they've a parent like Pam or nick, or a mate like Gav or Smithy. Or at least I did growing up in SW London!

DH and I married in 2010 and our wedding song was the one at the end of the first episode, You & Me by Lifehouse.

Strokethefurrywall · 08/01/2019 17:02

*characters, not cigar tee...

zenasfuck · 08/01/2019 17:25

Does anyone else fancy Dave coaches ?

Isitmybathtimeyet · 08/01/2019 17:30

Dave. You're riddled.

Isitmybathtimeyet · 08/01/2019 17:31

Fair point.

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 08/01/2019 17:31

You like the gingers, don't you?

Not the really ginger ones, like Chris Evans. More like Charles Dance, or Anthony Worral Thompson

MalcolmFucker · 08/01/2019 17:43

When Doris hasn't made a salad 😂
