I’ve binge watched for 2 days as I’m ill. I never tire of it. I have one niggle: about Pete and Dawn’s children. Why do they look so young in the vow renewal scene? If they were that young, they’d have been round at Pam and Mick’s all the time too.

Was a bit weird yesterday seeing Pam Ferris in G and S followed by Matilda.

My favourite characters are Ness and Bryn. I like Ness the way I liked Father Jack. Every single thing they say is funny and you just want to hear more.

I keep thinking of other funny bits. I love the vicar getting arsey about the sandwich fillings. So bizarre

Pinkyponkcustard · 04/01/2019 20:54

@LuckyLou7 They are definitely all smoking in the nightclub in the first episode.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/01/2019 21:42

And they smoke at Stacey's hen do too I think.

LuckyLou7 · 04/01/2019 22:20

They must have filmed the early episodes before the smoking ban. I know in later episodes, Gavin and Smithy go outside to smoke. I shall have to watch it all over again and make notes Grin

GrandmaSharksDentures · 04/01/2019 22:28

Has anyone else seen the behind the scenes special on Netflix? I'm watching it now & its all about the Christmas special - loving it!

Pinkyponkcustard · 04/01/2019 22:29

I think you’re right about it coming in part way through cos in the one where they all go to the beach on bank holiday smithy talks about the best thing about the smoking ban is the advancement in outdoor heating.

Clearly I have seen it waaay too many times.

LuckyLou7 · 04/01/2019 22:56

There's never too many times to watch Gavin and Stacey! It's a wonderful comforting series and I notice something different every time I watch it.

BigcatLittlecat · 06/01/2019 19:53

I have had a busy day watching the first series on iPlayer!! Fab!!!

MrsTommyBanks · 06/01/2019 20:51

I've found my people!
My absolutely favourite ever comedy. Utter perfection.
Far too many best bits for me. I've watched it eleventh billion times, and will watch it all again the same amount.
Also recommend the prog about the making of the Christmas special. Really interesting to watch.
I've laughed out loud so many times reading this thread. Am going to binge watch on iPlayer tomorrow now.

Cattus · 06/01/2019 21:04

I don’t know if it’s coincidence, but the well adjusted characters (the ones with the secure homes) e.g. Mick, Gavin, Stacey, Gwen are not the funny ones. but the ones who’ve had a tougher time of it e.g. Nessa get the funny lines.

I travelled 200 miles to Barry island to go on the Dave coaches Gavin and Stacey tour. Well worth it!!!

LuckyLou7 · 06/01/2019 22:46

Is anyone watching The James Corden Story on Channel 5? Lots of Gavin and Stacey clips.

ballsdeep · 06/01/2019 23:05

Just watching it now. Season 2 ep 2 where everyone can hear g and s shagging and pam. Turns on the radio 😂😂😂😂😂

zenasfuck · 06/01/2019 23:43

🎵🎵baby I want you come, come, come InTo my arms 😂😂😂

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 07/01/2019 19:38

I love that scene, because while everyone else looks horrified, Nessa and Smith exchange smiles.

Fromage · 07/01/2019 20:21

@kinseymilhone "Dawn" is Julia Davis and she had her own series called Nighty Night I think just before G&S - if you haven't seen it, just buy it. Also had Ruth Jones in it (I think just the first series). It is utter brilliance.

Muddlingalongalone · 07/01/2019 20:50

Love G&S so much - it was exactly my era though - music, stage of life etc.
Love world in motion & band aid - the original carpool karaoke. Can watch it over & over - so cleverly written.

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 07/01/2019 22:10

Watching the breakfast shagging scene now!

kinseymilhone · 07/01/2019 22:34

Ooohhhh thanks for the tip fromage! I haven't heard of that series and will definitely look it up Smile

ballsdeep · 07/01/2019 22:38

The KFC scene 🤭🤭🤭

twosoups1972 · 07/01/2019 22:44

Great thread, love G&S.

Baby Neil's christening -

'Whys he wearing a dress?'
Nessa 'I dunno' Grin

Seth · 07/01/2019 22:48

I have been loving all of these comments and memories and totally agree with how brilliant it is (nearly finished series 3 again and feeling slightly gutted)

I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on what age it would be suitable for DCs? My DD (12) has finished all of Friends now and I can't think of anything that can compete. Too young for G & S? I know that some of the humour is so subtle even an adult can miss it so I know some would go over her head anyway. Just wondered what people thought or if their DCs had watched it? Maybe that age group just wouldn't find it funny anyway? Hmm

Isitmybathtimeyet · 07/01/2019 22:55

Julia Davies has had a few brilliant comedy series but they are a bit more, um, in your face than G&S so brace yourself!

I think a teenager would get most of the dirty jokes but maybe at 12 it would be a bit beyond them. The obvious ones, yes, but loads aren't that obvious. Not sure how old you'd be to spot Nessa and her fingers, and maybe more of a women's joke all told.

youcanthaveitchyteeth · 08/01/2019 00:10

You schlagggggg

"I just can't believe this, Stace. Of all the people I've slept with, it's him that gets me pregnant. Not Nigel Havers, not John Prescott, not any of Goldie Lookin Chain. No, some knobhead from Essex."

Goldie Lookin Chain! Grin Such a fabulous of it's time reference.
