This is such an interesting thread. I caught it on iplayer by accident and thought it was incredible based on my limited knowledge. I have a relative who fosters and some of the kids they've looked after have had learning disabilities (I should point out that none of them came from families who put their child up for adoption because they weren't 'normal', as was suggested upthread, all came from families where there were other issues resulting in the kids being in the care system) and so we've experienced the disrupted family meals etc. Like the older brother my relatives own kids are wonderful kids with a maturity, patience and empathy beyond their years. Unlike the disruptive poster on here who in some ways is a useful example of the shit you all have to deal with, I didn't think an adult could be so lacking in understanding but there you go.

I'm enjoying this so much. The writing is so well observed and witty. I have no knowledge of what it is like to care for a child with these challenges and tbh I probably identify with the awkward cringe neighbour more than anything Blush, I'm sure I've said a few well meaning but irritating things in my time.

I cried during the last episode, the acting is so good! Love how 3 dimensional the characters are. The step dad just trying to help in his clumsy way. Agh I just think it's brilliant!

Completely not the point but I also love Jessica hyne's wardrobe in this.

Hang on was episode 5 the last one?!

Yes, and isn't it annoying. I want the traditional 6 episodes and either a cliffhanger or a denouement so I know I've reached the end of the series.

Ah I'm so disappointed! Really hope it gets another series.

Friolero · 27/06/2020 12:18
