MrsBonnie for David/Dave as the HS asked him early on was he David or Dave & he replied either. Grin

viques · 10/09/2018 19:11

I think Julia is very dead too, otherwise the highly suspicious stand in whose name I have forgotten will be very miffed.

And how do I know he is highly suspicious (apart from his giveaway secret chats with other suspicious characters) it's his odd penchant for wearing a cosy jersey under his jacket. People stopped wearing those in the fifties , therefore, he is doing it on purpose, and why??? -this is the clever bit- it is his personal homage to Burgess and Maclean, who of course were traitors and spies and probably wore jumpers and cardigans under their jackets too. He is indeed being too clever for his own good, hiding in plain sight. But I have spotted him.

I don't understand why whoever swapped Slash's bullets did so. Were they expecting Slash to try to commit suicide and wanting to stop him, or were they anticipating a roof top shoot out with Slash firing blanks allowing them to abseil down to safety.

SunnySomer · 10/09/2018 19:26

Ah Viques I spotted him because of the round glasses. I said to DH immediately that he was too studiedly arty-farty left wing to be trustworthy.

viques · 10/09/2018 19:30

Sunny and round glasses are also very 1950s. I rest my case.

diddl · 10/09/2018 20:31

The briefcase given to Tahir was the same one he had when he died wasn't it?

The one that Rob gave him?

Does anyone actually know that?

Also, it doesn't look as if the blast came from him, does it?

It just seems so lazy doesn't it, the aasumption that it must have been him based on well, nothing really it seems to me!

annandale · 10/09/2018 21:13

Slash was definitely eye-pointing to Tahrir when opposite Nadia - agreed not sure whether to tell her to pick him or not to pick him. Thing is, if you know how it works, it's actually really easy to spot, so either the other copper or Nadia's lawyer would have been onto that like a flash.

EvilRingahBitch · 10/09/2018 21:29

I don’t think it’s just laziness from the cops. Even if Gina isn’t up to her neck in a conspiracy, it’s really really convenient for her if the culprit is someone who the security services have vetted and vouched for.

Figgygal · 10/09/2018 21:43

Is it just me who is completely indifferent about it?
Was very excited about it but it's not doing it for me

AspieHere · 10/09/2018 21:53

.

GingerCatBigBalls · 10/09/2018 21:59

New (maybe?) theory: Louise is Vicky's new partner. She got the keys from Vicky's handbag and swapped the bullets because she didn't want Dave to kill himself due to the impact it would have on Vicky. She wasn't anything to do with the bomb etc though.

MissEliza · 10/09/2018 22:01

He was too studiedly arty farty left wing to be trustworthy. Love this!

Powergower · 10/09/2018 23:08

It's definitely starting to slow down. The big question for me is.... how does Vicky resist Dave???!!! He's blooming gorgeous and she could have him in her bed in minutes. Implausible script writing. The rest of the plot is pretty shaky too.

WobblyLondoner · 10/09/2018 23:10

A question about the gun hiding place in the ceiling - was that a memory stuck with it and I'd do did David take it out? I thought it was a usb but DP thought it was a fun cartridge (like we'd know!!!).

WobblyLondoner · 10/09/2018 23:10

Argh gun cartridge (not fun at all).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/09/2018 23:22

Where’s this theory that Vicky is with a woman come from. I need to rewatch the episode, but Dave definitely said about the new person being a “ good dad”

Johnb0y · 10/09/2018 23:26

Yes but his wife didn't clarify that her new partner was a man or woman, she just said "you'll always be their dad"

Loopytiles · 11/09/2018 06:31

Vicky can resist Dave because of his past and current behaviour and major issues!

Yellowsunredroses · 11/09/2018 07:12

Yes the New man Will be Richard longcross and the kids will recognise him from something Dave is looking at and tell him why are you looking at a picture of mums new boyfriend?

FirstOfHerName · 11/09/2018 07:25

Posh bloke like Richard Longcross and single mum nurse like Vicky? Not sure it's likely - where would they have met?

placemats · 11/09/2018 07:33

Julia Montague, KH, is dead.

www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2018/sep/11/bodyguard-creator-jed-mercurio-bbc-twist-completely-alter-dynamic

I don't think Vicky's new man will be Longcross, possibly another HCP though.

wowfudge · 11/09/2018 08:02

Why categorise him as a posh bloke though? Because he was wearing a suit and spoke to a politician? If he's a shady security services type he's likely to have various aliases and he will have made up something plausible to win Vicky over.

EvilRingahBitch · 11/09/2018 08:15

I agree that it would be implausible for Vicky to be dating Longcross. And I’d be a bit unimpressed if it was a woman, a bit “Aha! Do you see what I did there!” (Like the Asian man being Deepak). But nurses date police all the time, because it’s quite natural for them to meet at work, so it could be light haired cop or mysterious balaclava bloke or...

VanGoghsDog · 11/09/2018 10:52

Home Sec is not arty farty leftie - it's clearly a right wing government, he's supposed to be a straight-laced Tory sort.

The reason the gun was left but just the bullets changed would be because they did not want him to suspect anything if he checked on the gun. But why he didn't check the chamber and notice they were blanks is anyone's guess - trauma I suppose.
But, yes WHO changed the bullets, this is the key question. Though 'keys' are not the 'key' to it, because most people involved here (SS, high level police/counter terrorism etc) could get in without a key.

I thought we did see him put the gun in the panelling, obvs at some point he moved it (after all that hard work redoing it, had to do it again) and the reason Louise looked perplexed was not because she knew it should be there but because it looked such a likely hiding place (perhaps he left it looking slightly 'new' on purpose).

Why would they not have found it in the light fitting though, it's hardly an unusual hiding place.

Not sure about the memory stick either, I didn't see him use one with the tablet and most tablets don't have USB ports now - wonder if that was a plant and he doesn't know it is there, they made a show of him feeling around and not touching it - if he knew it was there he would have gone back to check on it once he knew the bullet was blank.

wowfudge · 11/09/2018 11:07

Whoever changed the bullets for blanks put the usb stick up there. Why does the info have to have been downloaded straight from the tablet? It could have been saved by a different means. Whoever gave the HS the info could want it to be discovered and now need to give it to someone else they deem trustworthy who will disclose it.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 11/09/2018 12:07

Not going to put a link, but someone from the DM has been having a good old read of this thread to write her recap and theories of episode 4. They are such lazy journalists there.
