I doubt Julia would be pregnant, I'm sure she has contraception sorted out completely. Even if she were, it's unlikely to have had time to implant.

kitbabingley · 10/09/2018 12:46

I don't usually watch TV but I'm really glued to this one! Don't see how any of you are attracted to David though 😕 Deepak on the other hand...

I did wonder if maybe Julia was faking her own death but I think it's more likely she actually is dead. The idea it was planned that she'd only be injured is an interesting one...

And I've now realised that Vicky's new boyfriend could well be significant, since we haven't seen him at all!

Gripping stuff.

ArtemisWeatherwax · 10/09/2018 12:52

So what was Kim running towards?
Why did SlashDave ask "what did Kim say?"
Who moved the gun? If it wasn't SlashDave, how did he know where to look for it?

It's all very convenient for the police that JM is dead, and indeed the PM must be happy too.

However I can't take the acting Home Sec seriously after watching the Thick of It.

wowfudge · 10/09/2018 13:28

We assumed SlashDave put the gun behind the panelling. He actually took it out and put it in the ceiling void. The reason the Soco looked confused was because it looked like an obvious hidey hole but was empty.

Gersemi · 10/09/2018 13:56

Dave said he'd moved the gun.

SoupDragon · 10/09/2018 14:18

I assumed Dave wanted to know what Kim had seen to make her run. I think he was only running because he’d seen her leap into action.

wowfudge · 10/09/2018 14:30

That was just what I thought @SoupDragon

dogsdinnerlady · 10/09/2018 14:39

Didn't the last scene show CCTV of Dave NOT inspecting the briefcase or did I get it wrong? Film seemed to contradict what he's said.

wowfudge · 10/09/2018 15:08

I blinked and missed that so not sure what it showed. We all know that Tahir opened the briefcase and SlashDave looked inside though.

DarlingNikita · 10/09/2018 15:53

Dim question but I can't work it out: who is police and who is security services?

Also, surely the man who came to see Julia in the hotel is significant? IDd himself as 'Richard Longcross' but doesn't exist under that name. Is anyone looking into him?

I think the slimy aide/acting Home Sec thing is a red herring inasmuch as I think their actions and motives were not murderous. My theory is that they were just plotting to giveJulia the wrong speech to make her look a fool and land Tahir in the shit.

Believeitornot · 10/09/2018 15:57

The CCTV showed that the case was opened and Dave looked in. That’s why they derided the fact he “only” inspected - a way of saying he looked visually as opposed to actually rifling through it.

Also for some reason I thought Dave was on the stairs when the briefcase handing over happened. Again I’m going to have to watch it again to remind myself!

I did see that the boyfriend/friend of the sacked PA was at the veteran support group in episode one when I watched again.

BitOfFun · 10/09/2018 15:59

Basically Gina McKee is Police, and Versailles Bloke is Secret Service.

DarlingNikita · 10/09/2018 16:02

Thanks, BitOfFun. I don't watch Versailles and can't remember what that bloke looks like, but I'm sure IMDB will sort me out!

Believeitornot, the boyfriend/friend of the sacked PA was at the veteran support group, who is this? When did we see him? I don't remember seeing a boyfriend/friend.

Loopytiles · 10/09/2018 16:05

A detective sergeant like Louise, told by a colleague about multiple CCTV footage being tampered with to cover something at a certain time, would NOT go “not what I’m meant to be investigating”. Unrealistic plotting to slow down info being revealed perhaps.

BitOfFun · 10/09/2018 16:09

Ooooh, I didn't notice that! I might have to rewatch.

My eldest daughter has just got home from travelling all summer (she's only home for a couple of days before she's off again to her new digs in the Big Smoke for her first job after graduating). We are having the BEST afternoon together after being inspired by this thread to watch Line Of Duty on Netflix Grin. I've seen it before, but it's lovely to share it with her.

wowfudge · 10/09/2018 16:36

The veteran guy was someone I took to be Chanel's driver - I think she has a rich daddy. My thoughts are that the veterans group members were trying to get close to people working in Westminster/in the government.

Believeitornot · 10/09/2018 17:21

who is this? When did we see him? I don't remember seeing a boyfriend/friend

In the first episode she sees a journalist and is picked up by a guy in a Range Rover. Later in the same episode, the guy turns around when Dave arrives at the veteran group - you see his face. I watched the first episode again today 🤣

@wowfudge you might be right - she didn’t seem that pleased to see him so maybe not a friend. But definitely the same guy.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 10/09/2018 17:32

I was going to rewatch to see who Chanels driver was in case he appeared again, so that's very interesting.
Sadly I think Julia is properly dead not just pretend dead

dogsdinnerlady · 10/09/2018 18:15

I agree Loopy. No detective worth her salt would turn down a chance to gather evidence. No promotion for her any time soon. Perhaps we are supposed to think that the police are scared of touching anything involving Secret Service.

Livedandlearned2 · 10/09/2018 18:23

I don't know if anyone has suggested this but I reckon the police officer who searched Dave's flat and seemed surprised to see that the gun wasn't in Dave's usual hiding place, was the person who swapped the bullet for a blank.

Inkanta · 10/09/2018 18:25

I'd like to see Dave get back with his wife.

LoisWilkerson1 · 10/09/2018 18:29

I'm so glad I joined this thread, I'm more confused than everGrin I think a big twist will come but I just hope it isn't too far fetched. The writer isn't usually gimmicky so hopefully it will be really well done.

Livedandlearned2 · 10/09/2018 18:31

I usually read this after an episode,.as my concentration skills by night time are not amazing Grin

MrsBonnie · 10/09/2018 18:49

Why are we calling him Slash Dave?

EvilRingahBitch · 10/09/2018 19:05

Because he said he’d be happy to answer to either David or Dave. Hence, David/Dave.
