Surely Phelan will have to get his comeuppance by Christmas?

Mind you, I hope Anna gets sent to prison too.

Eileen used to be such a good character. She had a great sense of humour and great friendship with Steve and Lloyd. Now she is unpopular with few (if any friends). After Deirdre died, there was suddenly a friendship between Eileen and Liz. I don't think they ever chat anymore.

Girlsworld92 · 06/01/2018 19:12

I've always loved Corrie but it's really annoying me atm. Makes me a bit sad tbh.

blackbunny · 06/01/2018 19:30

They drag a storyline on and on and on until, like I said earlier, viewers forget how it began!
And then the times when they should lengthen out a timeline of events, such as the Kabin being bought then sold back to Rita again, well that's all sorted in 3 episodes! Vic Reeves and the Health Centre woman had the makings of intriguing characters, yet they disappeared together and never referred to again!
I despair, I'm hanging on now just to watch Pat get his just desserts...

I'm hanging on now just to watch Pat get his just desserts.

I suspect that’s why they’ve dragged it out so long. They’ve nothing else happening to keep people interested and they know as soon as pat is found out the viewing numbers will drop.

theliverpoolone · 06/01/2018 20:04

Actually, once Phelan gets found out, some viewers, possibly me included, might start watching again. I stopped because I'd had enough of him getting away with more and more ludicrous crimes. Although all the Billy/the Barlows nonsense may well keep me away....

Girlsworld92 · 06/01/2018 20:42

Oh yes, Billy & Barlows annoy me too. Let's hope it gets better soon. As a northern girl it bothers me that I don't love it anymore!

AmIthatbloodycold · 06/01/2018 20:49

I'm with you Liverpoolone

I haven't watched in weeks. Will maybe come back once Mr Wonky mouth Phelan has had his comeuppance

millimat · 06/01/2018 20:56

Last night: utterly ridiculous AngryAngry

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 06/01/2018 21:47

Has Phelan had gun training? He was rather accurate and confident for a novice?

Akire · 06/01/2018 22:20

Finally caught up! Seriously how many murders can one person do? How many snappy out character losing the plot moments, before Eileen twigs? Does look like he’s dead, shame as growing on me.

At least Eileen had told him that Phealon was there so a tiny clue. Plus if he does drop Seb in it then he can tell truth about Anna?

Carla is loaded why wouldn’t she just rent a flat in Victoria court?

Agree about to many people. Sean has nearly spoke a word for months. Maybe he leave and get a job somewhere else, and free up some space.

theliverpoolone · 06/01/2018 23:12

From what I've been reading, and remember from when I was watching, it seems that there's lots of characters suspicious of Phelan - the Windasses, Luke, his daughter (is she still in it?), Seb, Daniel....you'd think, wouldn't you, that they'd all join forces and nail him pretty quickly. But no, they all seem to act completely on their own, and inevitably fail.

CoolCarrie · 06/01/2018 23:25

Eileen and Gail are like black widows! I won’t be watching much longer as Corrie has completely lost its sense of humour, and Emmerdale is ridiculous too, at least it will free up more time for reading!

cloudyweewee · 07/01/2018 08:54

As ridiculous as it is I can't give up Corrie cos I gave been watching it for as long as I can remember. I remember my older sister explaining that Ena Sharples wasn't real. I can't just chuck 45+ years of viewing away!

woodhill · 07/01/2018 08:57

Phelan was also very unpleasant to Ken when doing kitchen.

Every episode he placates and lies to Eileen "yes love".

Str4ngedaysindeed · 07/01/2018 09:12

Thinking back though, there were the other two implausible killers - John Stape and Richard Hillman- mind you they were a bit more watchablebke...

cloudyweewee · 07/01/2018 09:32

I fancied Richard Hillman Blush

I'm getting quite irritated by the Jude and Angie situation. They came over months ago for the wedding, missed a plane back to South Africa and are still here.
Jude apparently went for a job interview, but we don't know the outcome; they are lodging with Norris (and Sean), but never mention going back to sort out their affairs. I'm assuming that Norris as 'grandfather' isn't charging them rent, but surely they need money for day-to-day expenses.

Bluelonerose · 07/01/2018 14:06

Are we assuming Vinnies mom was delivered back to the nursing home?
Or is she in the lake?

wagil · 07/01/2018 14:42

Vinnies' mum is living in the missing Rover's upstairs room, somewhere in Neverland.

Grunkalunka · 07/01/2018 16:07

Blue - I don't think we will ever find out - it is one of those pesky details that current Corrie writers don't think needs to be addressed or assume will become a fan mystery to be mulled over for years to come.

The whole Phelan saga is ridiculous. He arrived on the Street on his uppers (his wife got everything in the divorce - can I have the name of her lawyer please?) and was prepared to flee the country with Vinnie for a few 100 grand (yeah - like that would last a lifetime). How did Vinnie and Phelan get access to the Mill which they claimed they had bought - they had gates etc there and showed people around - where did Eileen think Phelan got the money to buy it from when he was working as Jason's labourer? Why did none of the people who put down a deposit investigate further - surely they would have looked into getting a mortgage which would have needed paperwork? (eg. Sarah Platt how would she have ever secured one?)

How come Phelan had a massive derelict house on a big plot in a naice neighborhood at his disposable/claimed he owned it to Eileen? Who surely would have wanted Jason repaid - but she never questioned it and in fact wanted Pat to do it up and move into it to live in luxury? Who knew Pat had been trained in firearms by MI6? How would he have got permission to remove Vinnie's mum from the home and where did he put her up and who looked after her and where did the cash come for doing that? There must be a massive profit margin in refitting backstreet kitchens??

Sorry - going to give up now , I'm boring myself- just too ridiculous!!

SymphonyofShadows · 07/01/2018 16:13

Is Carla loaded anymore? She gambled away a lot of money and Nick had to help her, and she had to sell part of the business (to Aidan with money that he unwittingly took from his dad) so I'm not sure she where it all comes from now she has a place in Devon.

Grunkalunka · 07/01/2018 16:19

eddiemairswife I agree about Angie and Jude. They are new-ish characters who were planned for by the production team but they sit around like two miserable lumps. Why had more continuing storylines for them not been planned? Even their backstory is inconsistent. The Angie actress said in an interview in the summer when she was being introduced (Radio Times I think) that her and Jude met a Uni and later moved to SA. However, recently in the Bistro she said she got pregnant with George on their third date. I'm sure it was mentioned previously that she had family not too far away but she hasn't visited them or mentioned them since and yes, Jude had an interview to become a Uni lecturer in Marine Biology at a local uni that we have heard no more about. How is Angie's PND being treated, is it working? Has she repaired her relationship with Mary?

You always fall down the social scale if you move to Corrie. Angie (who is supposed to be an accountant) will probably end up doing the "books" for the pub and Jude will be a packer in the factory or some such. The sprawling estate in SA just a distant dream.

Grunkalunka · 07/01/2018 16:24

I wondered that about Carla too. She also signed over half her share in the factory to Peter when they were married , I suppose he gave it up out of guilt when they divorced?? although I rather think he would have claimed it for "our Si" as all his schemes are. I think she still owns the flat that Johnnie and Jenny live in in Victoria Court ( IIRC Carla rented it to him?)
