I just read a 2 year old article from the Guardian about how Corrie has gone downhill w it’s stunt casting, ott storylines, lack of humour, and bad acting.

If people have been complaining for at least 2 years, well, I’m thinking of taking a long break. Maybe checking this board to see if things improve. Might watch the Christmas episodes and then give up.

I think it's about two years since I stopped watching, after 30 years.

It’s all so dire isn’t it. I watched on catch-up TV for the first time in weeks this morning and was dismayed to see the Anna & Phelan shit show rolls on. As Todd mentioned, didn’t anyone think it odd that Phelan was wondering around with bundles of £5k in a hold-all? I’m surprised Yasmine remembered she has to pay Dev back. That hasn’t been mentioned in about a year even though Dev initially he behaved as if the missing money was all that stood between him and financial ruin.

Daniel was able to read the details of Billy’s past in that 5 second glance at Adam’s paperwork. Ok.

Mary’s son must have trained at the same acting school as the awful Caz (did she ever receive a prison sentence?) he is so dreadfully wooden.

I’d love to know who Sally ‘spoke to’ in order to push Angie up the queue. Totally normal for a mayor to do that for a woman she doesn’t even know. And yes, if Angie is a local why isn’t she visiting or even mentioning her parents who would surely want to see their grandchild.

I think I’ll go back to following via this thread. Wake me up when these storylines are all over.

Eastie I wondered about Jasmine/Dev debt too. Wasn't Zeedan meant to be at breaking point at one time working long hours at the bistro and using his food van to pay that debt off? Another dropped story and no mention anymore of the van.

Didn't anyone think it was strange when handing over £15k deposit that there was no insurance (or check it) and why was Sarah not checked for a mortgage - she had £15k but wouldn't have got a mortgage on a part time bar maid salary.

If the producers want us to watch and have faith in the characters then they need to follow through on stories!!

That’s a very good point about follow-through. It’s as if they are so fixated on Phelan that they get bored of any other storylines and so quickly drop them.

Kind of ironic that the only story they keep going is the one the fans want them to drop! I was really annoyed that after all that Andy ended up murdered. It’s like a downmarket Scott and Bailey (downmarket as in some shoddy acting and bad writing).

I was a super fan but I'm sick of it now ! Michelle's storyline drives me in sane and phelans story is just getting too ridiculous. Also nothing is realistic anynmore . I find it dull now so barely watch it

I wonder how the producers have got it in their heads that we want a deadly serious “issue of the week” soap, when I think what the fans want is a slice of life w a few more affairs, embezzlement’s, rows w supervisors than on a normal street.

I really hope they don’t kill off the entire show =:-0

@Grunkalunka yes initially Zeedan was extremely stressed over the debt as was Yasmine. I seem to remember her selling her jewellery to fund his first wedding ceremony. Then all worries disappeared as if by magic. Didn’t Zeedan get married ‘again’ recently? No mention of financial difficulty this time around I assume.
