Thanks Mo for the episode list.

Fabulous Fergus photo.......swoon. Really love all these new characters/actors. Not able to see next ep clip. But thrilled to see LJG again. Can't remember from books why she dislikes him so much? Because he fancies J it because he held him prisoner? Other reasons are stupid because he's a decent, honourable man Confused

DryWhiteagainW · 11/11/2017 17:02

'Both reasons' gah

ToniMumsnet · 11/11/2017 17:25

I think its bcause she sees the two of them after the urder at the ball and realises LJG loves Jamie, but suspects there is more too it as they are obviously very close.
In later books she does appear to realise that her feelings are not reasonable.

MoNigheanDonn · 11/11/2017 19:00

Is wee Willie going to appear anytime soon too? LJG is a great character, I found him very likeable.

GreatWhites · 11/11/2017 21:16

TBF, LJG is completely and totally in love with Jamie and a lot of the book is in the first person. It's not unreasonable to have bitchy inner thoughts about someone in love with your husband Grin

She does treat him for measles etc. And there's the whole disastrous episode in Books 6/7.

I think it's Book 4 or 5 that LJG and Willie turn up at Fraser's Ridge.

(is it Fraser's Ridge or Frasers' Ridge?)

SenecaFalls · 12/11/2017 00:00

Fraser's Ridge

Which should look something like this.

Seneca that's interesting - I'm hoping they use the Birks of Aberfeldy as Fraser's Ridge, all those huge incredible trees!

MoNigheanDonn · 12/11/2017 06:46

Just saw this in an article...surely not!

"Thirdly, it'll likely be another five years before I get anywhere near the end of Book Ten and for the record, I don't intend to kill Jamie and Claire off. 02/11/17

snozzlemaid · 12/11/2017 08:12

I saw that on twitter, but she did say after 'but if one of them dies on me what can I do'.
So no definite guarantee one of them wont die as she obviously thinks she has little control over what happens to them.
I think it probably could be that long until the final book.
I'm not sure how long its been since book 8 but 9 isn't even due to be released anytime soon. She takes years to write them.

quirkychick · 12/11/2017 08:44

Seneca that looks absolutely beautiful!

snozzle I've read DG say it takes her about 4yrs to write each book, but now she's a consultant on the show etc. I should think it will take much longer.

There's a trailer on YouTube for Episode 10, "Heaven and Earth" and quite a few photos and articles on ew.com

AKAmyself · 12/11/2017 10:10

So Seneca, have you watched the latest episode yet?!?

snozzlemaid · 12/11/2017 12:06

Just seen on a thread about series 3 of The Crown that Tobias Menzies is listed as a possible Prince Phillip.
I think he would be great alongside Olivia Coleman.

ToniMumsnet · 12/11/2017 13:29

They would be a fantastic lineup.

Lessstressedhemum · 12/11/2017 14:00

That is a beautiful picture, Seneca. Aberfeldy would be lovely for that and for all the water than flows all through Fraser's ridge.

Those pics at sea are lush.

only just managed to sit down, weren't weekends supposed to be about relaxing?! I have seen some photos of Jamie and Claire at sea where they look: 1) happy 2) tanned 3) their age. General commentary from what I've seen on twitter seems to be quite positive.

AKAmyself · 12/11/2017 15:31

This, in particular, has my heart beating extra fast :)

oh and there is this one too! twitter.com/jameifraser/status/929612518137282561

SenecaFalls · 12/11/2017 15:34

I'm glad y'all like the picture. I love going to the mountains of North Carolina. DH and I go at least every other year, either in the spring or the fall.

Yes, I stayed up and watched the episode. It was very well done. One of the things that it made me think about is how courageous settlers to the new world where to get on those wooden sailing ships to cross a vast ocean in hopes of better life, but not knowing much about what they were going to find on the other side.

quirkychick · 12/11/2017 15:50

Seneca I felt that when I read the books, how dangerous sea travel was! Storms, sickness, pirates as well as all the later politics and blockades... The mountains look so gorgeous, isn't that where Cold Mountain is set too, in North Carolina?

snozzlemaid · 12/11/2017 16:09

Aka wow.* It’s suddenly got very hot in here. Can’t wait to see those bits in the episode.*

SenecaFalls · 12/11/2017 16:09

The book Cold Mountain is set in North Carolina, but I think they filmed a lot of it and other places.

snozzlemaid · 12/11/2017 16:09

Bold not worked again. Doh!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 12/11/2017 16:51

Oooof thanks for that AKA! They are looking 1) their age 2) very much in love

Can’t wait till Monday

Lessstressedhemum · 12/11/2017 16:53

Oops, spontaneous underwear combustion AGAIN. Damn you, Jamie Fraser!

And here’s one that’s going to reignite the drinking buddies fantasy we had going a few weeks ago :)

Don’t you just love how genuinely (and non sexually) fond of each other they seem?
