I think that I would have been like Jenny, tbh. She had to watch Jamie live as a shell of a man and then had to give him up to the English etc. Just when has a kind of family and a kind of life, Claire turns up and his life is in ashes within a couple of days. Add to that that Claire had been out of contact with the family for 20 years with no explanation I would have been spitting feathers as well.

I thought the whole thing was fab. Jamie was so good with the children. He really just wanted a family and somewhere to belong. it's so sad. Claire is still getting right up my nose. She had a family, a husband (for what he was worth) a home and a career she loved. Jamie had none of that just loss upon loss. She should use her famous doctor skills and practice a bit of empathy.

Just found trailer for the rest of the season if anyone is interested - OMG! It's an Instagram link

I’ve seen that monighean. It looks mad! Grin

It also looks like Claire’s grey streak makes a reappearance but not really bothered about the wig Jamie is wearing presumably in France.

gamerwidow · 06/11/2017 14:41

So much better this week. There is something special about the show when it’s in Lallybroch. Hopefully Frasers Ridge will feel like this too.
I don’t think Jenny was unreasonable I’d be pissed off too if I’d had to watch my brother being a shell of a man for 20 years because someone couldn’t be arsed to send a letter! I might think that C had come back just because J was back on the up and up.

MoNigheanDonn · 06/11/2017 14:50

It's looking quite action packed for the last 5 episodes.

quirkychick · 06/11/2017 16:53

I think they've fleshed out the first bit with extra stuff in Boston, and so are having to cram in the rest. Iirc, the reunion is about a third of the way through in the book, whereas it's been about half way through the episodes. Lots to fit in.

AKAmyself · 06/11/2017 17:01

Right, while I wait for tomorrow and try to avoid looking at spoilers —who am I kidding I’ve read them all— the question for today is the following:

Why does Sam not wear a kilt at red carpet events?

AKAmyself · 06/11/2017 17:02

(Apologies at the strike through fail!)

Lessstressedhemum · 06/11/2017 17:12

Sometimes he does. Don't know why he sometimes doesn't.

AKA he doesn't want everyone to faint in his presence, he's a real gentleman like that I bet.

MoNigheanDonn · 06/11/2017 17:16

I'd faint if I saw him in his kilt Grin I love dh in his kilt too

AKAmyself · 06/11/2017 17:18

Ah Lessstreassed I wondered whether there was a sikrit Scottish reason

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/11/2017 17:48

DH, for some bizarre reason, has just bought a kilt Hmm Neither of us are Scottish. He wanted to wear it on our recent trip to Edinburgh.

I said no.

FuckFaulkerILikeTheGruffalo · 06/11/2017 17:59

Tbh I'm a bit disappointed my DP is Scottish, we live in Scotland, and wears a trouser suit to formal events instead of a kilt, making him the odd one out. Kilts really are strangely sexy.

Lessstressedhemum · 06/11/2017 18:00

No secret reasons. Probably wants to avoid the inevitable question. And the fainting women obviously.

Lessstressedhemum · 06/11/2017 18:02

Kits are the sexiest clothing item in the history of ever. Even unbraw men look good in a kilt and boots, although mostly it's brogues for formal wear.

OP posts:
CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/11/2017 18:08

DH is quite braw, tbh Wink If he had a Scottish accent, he’d have made a fine Jamie. He has the height and red hair and everyfink. My friend says she can why I like Outlander. (He doesn’t look anything like SH though).

SenecaFalls · 06/11/2017 18:18

One of the nice things about the Frasers' move to North Carolina is that Jamie can wear the kilt again. The post-Culloden prohibition on Highland dress did not cross the pond.

AKAmyself · 06/11/2017 18:20

totally agree re kilts being the sexiest thing ever on a man. And Sam, being Scottish, almost has a moral duty to wear one, surely.

Perhaps he doesn’t want to be identified too closely with his character? And he’s quite dishy in a suit, mind you.

GreatWhites · 06/11/2017 18:38

It was absolutely baltic in Glasgow last night, don't blame the man.

Such a good episode. Loved the pot of shit line and will be using it in daily life. The fight was so well acted, ...CB's expressions were perfect.

Jenny's eyebrows are magnificent, Lallybroch must have had a terrific salon going. Apart from that, totally get where she was coming from. She didn't even know Claire for that long pre-Culloden.

SenecaFalls · 06/11/2017 18:49

I've seen it twice and totally missed the pot of shit line. Can someone enlighten?

ToniMumsnet · 06/11/2017 18:51

There is really something quite wonderful about a man in a kilt. I love it when my dh wears his. This season without them has been such a shame.
Thanks for the preview clip. I noticed the crocodile head was still in it. I was hoping they would skip that bit.

GreatWhites · 06/11/2017 18:53

'If there's a pot of shit on to boil, you'll stir it'

Grin Grin Grin

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/11/2017 19:52

There’s another thing that keeps annoying me although it’s only a small annoyance and I suppose I can live with it.

Every time Jamie tried to reassure Claire that he loves her, something happens to cut the conversation off before Claire can say anything back. It would be nice to hear her tell him that she loves him too.

SenecaFalls · 06/11/2017 20:07

Thanks GreatWhites What a great line.
