I've seen the new ep - I need to talk about it!!

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/11/2017 13:25

I’ve seen it too. It’s the best one so far, I loved it. But it’s always better when they’re back in the Highlands.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/11/2017 13:30

Also, I was wrong in my previous judgement of the actor who plays Young Ian. He’s absolutely brilliant in this episode.

LonelyOversharer · 05/11/2017 14:01

Aah, I want the new episode now! Really looking forward to it now I know it's a good one.

ToniMumsnet · 05/11/2017 14:25

I love Mumlanders too. Should definitely be in the next thread title.

The preview for next weeks episode looks great. I have been really looking forward to the ship.
Will I be able to figure out which Black Sails ship they have used?

SenecaFalls · 05/11/2017 14:32

Agree 100%. Young Ian really came into his own in this episode.

And may I just say that I loved the reappearance of my favorite character who is not Jamie or Claire in the form of the incomparable Bill Patterson. Smile

SenecaFalls · 05/11/2017 14:33

Paterson that is.

quirkychick · 05/11/2017 15:19

Bill Paterson is a fantastic actor. Really looking forward to this tomorrow.

Lessstressedhemum · 05/11/2017 16:21

Love Bill Paterson

Yes, SUCH a good episode. Courtney, you're right about the Highlands thing!

I'm now totally on board with Young Ian, forgiving the fact that teenagers are annoying.

I feel like while I was happy with the reunion episode, some emotions were left uncaptured with it, and the new ep has gave me everything I want. Last week was not that interesting really, Claire was too annoying.

I really wanted Claire to just smack Laoghaire lots, disappointed that didn't happen. Was never in the books but my god if they put that on the screen I'd be a happy woman.

Jamie was BEAUTIFUL in candle light this week. I feel like the make-up artists have done something different a bit this week, J + C looked closer to the age they should (although still not there by a long shot).

Jenny was so interesting this week too.

DryWhiteagainW · 05/11/2017 21:48

Oh I can't wait now........off to check Yputube

cushioncovers · 05/11/2017 22:01

Arriving shamefully late to the thread. Just one more episode-to go then I’m all caught up.

MoNigheanDonn · 06/11/2017 06:11

Just checking in...wont be able to watch until 15th as prime has run out gah! I'll be back with a vengeance then though Grin

MoNigheanDonn · 06/11/2017 08:24

Oh the world is out to rights a friend has given me her log in. Will watch this morning!!!

Lessstressedhemum · 06/11/2017 09:30

What a great episode. So full of emotion and Jamie was truly beautiful, even when lying prone being poked at by horrid things.

I thought they were all good today. Fab performances all round.

Wonderful episode, except everyone looked too young. The women most especially - Jenny, Laoghaire, and Claire.

MoNigheanDonn · 06/11/2017 11:17

Awesome episode. I'll need to rewatch later on as toddler woke up halfway through and whinged grrr. Young Ian really came into his own. The actress who played Marsali looks very similar to L, very well cast.

MoNigheanDonn · 06/11/2017 11:19

less that's very kind of you. I was on the scrounge on Facebook Grin really couldn't cope without my outlander fix.

quirkychick · 06/11/2017 12:18

I thought the actress who was M looked very like L, too. Brilliant episode, will probably try rewatching. I thought the screenwriters really did work their magic, much slicker and far less excruciating than the book. I liked the way they had paved the way for Jamie being married again, whereas in the book it's a complete shock.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/11/2017 12:44

Things I loved about this weeks epsiode:

Jamie’s finger tapping when they arrive at Lallybroch
The scene between Young Ian and Janet
The argument after Laoghaire appears (that was just magnificent on both CB & SH part. I always loved the argument scene in the first season where Claire gets kidnapped by BJR again and this was reminiscent of that).
Jenny throwing water over them. Actually just every Jenny scene, especially the one with Ian and the pot of shit, ha!
Jamie’s look of absolute love at Claire when she brings him the water instead of whiskey
Laoghaire’s daughters.

What I didn’t like:

Just bloody tell Jenny the truth about Claire, ffs! This is a woman who has visions. I’m sure she could’ve bloody handled it!

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/11/2017 12:45

Oh and Ned Gowan, but that goes without saying. At last, someone has aged in line with what they should’ve done.

LonelyOversharer · 06/11/2017 12:55

I agree with you all. That was all done so much better than the book. The fact that J wanted to be a dad, not just Jenny meddling was v sweet. And we got some flashback stuff, which is like s1 and a nice pattern.

Got a bit fed up with Jenny being pissed off, I was shouting at her to cheer up already. I was hoping Claire would tell her the truth. Jenny was right, Claire could have written to her (had she been in the 18c). I thought they did Leery very well. Not fat and old, she looked worn out and a bit tired tbh.

My biggest complaint: I spent ages finding the fire stick, putting it up on the big telly, setting up a big pile of ironing to "pretend" to do, and dp wouldn't leave me alone! Wheres so and so, can you hold this, can I have a hand...worse than a toddler. Will watch again in peace (on my tablet) later.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 06/11/2017 13:05

Got a bit fed up with Jenny being pissed off

I thought that’s how I would feel when I saw the trailer but actually watching the whole episode, I could totally understand why she was fuming with Claire.

They all thought Claire was dead. Jenny saw that Jamie was in hell and a shell of himself for years and years. And then (it seems) just as Jamie’s getting some semblance of his life back, in swans Claire to upset the applecart again.

quirkychick · 06/11/2017 13:11

I loved Ian and Jenny with the pot of shit Grin. Very funny!
Some great acting, I loved that Jamie was about to tell Claire when Laoghaire etc. came in rather than they get interrupted during sex , and all the bits about Jamie wanting a family and a home.
Much better streamlining, Claire being there when Jamie is shot rather than wandering off for days towards the stones until Young Ian comes to find her.
Bill Paterson, just fab.
