Hello lassies! Ive been awol this week and only watched the last episode twice which is telling. Have finally caught up , thoughts:
Why do I like Outlander (and the books) so much?
Because it's escape. I watch Houseof Cards, Homeland and loads of other shows that are all a bit too close to real life, and a bit depressing tbh.
I love a period drama.
I love a story of an enduring, loving relationship, because, actually they do exist.
I like the writing of the show.
Jamie is fabulous ofcourse...."the King of men" embarrassing, but true
The books?
Yes they go on far too long, yes DG has some VERY odd ideas (syringe made out of snake fangs anyone?), yes I skip a lot....but I actually liked the day to day stuff, having the books plodding along in the background of my life. And I liked the characters (I like Dottie, Hal, William, Rachel in the later books.....had also totally forgotten the Campbells)
Fraser Ridge?
Once over the shock of J and C leaving Scotland I realised that FR is, for all intents and purposes, Scotland. Same landscape, sane people etc.....
So there......it's a proper bodice ripper with goodies and bodies, a bit of romance, lots of drama....what more can you want?
Poor Nell. Jennifer has aged well......bit stouter. Steve C is great.
Can't wait for next episode.
