Yeah, Arya did exactly the same square root of fuck all to save Ned as Sansa did. Of all the things to have a go at her about, that's hardly at the top of the list.

Yeah I got that part but I just can't see what Arya finds so bad about the actual letter...it was written under duress and it just encouraged Robb to surrender so as not to die didn't it? It's hardly a huge betrayal of the fam..

OlennasWimple · 21/08/2017 16:10

Arya is behaving like the sort of spoiled brat that she accuses Sansa of being

Nigel - yes, Dany is Jon's aunt. So Jon got saved by his Aunt Dany and then his Uncle Benjen. Family gotta look out for each other!

The letter accuses Ned of being a traitor and trying to seize the throne after Robert died, that's why it's so damning (I think)

Sansa wrote the letter as part of her plea for mercy for her father. She was doing her best to try to saver her father's life.

Arya said she saw her standing at the sept in her pretty dress. Presumably she also saw her screaming and passing out when Joffrey called for her father's head.

Comparing Sansa to Lyanna Mormont is just unfair. Lyanna had a totally different upbringing from Sansa.

I can't believe how they have trashed Arya's character this season - just to extend the 'Littlefinger is so clever' storyline. When Sansa asked Arya where she got the letter, all Arya had to answer was "You know where I got it, don't you?" When Sansa, truthfully, denied it she would have known she was telling the truth and known that this was a Littlefinger plot.

I still can't get over how crappy and rubbery those faces look.

AryaUnderfoot · 21/08/2017 16:18

I'm sure little miss cupbearer of Harrenahl would never do anything to serve the Lannisters Hmm

yumyumpoppycat · 21/08/2017 16:29

Although that is all true about Sansa's situation particularly the comparison with Lyanna, I am not sure she could explain it to the Lords convincingly enough. The thing is Arya should be able to empathise but her character seems to have regressed - she seems to have her own agenda and being friendly with Sansa isn't part of it - she is still acting like the jealous little sister.

SenatorBunghole · 21/08/2017 16:29

So we're all agreed Arya needs to wind her fucking neck in then? Good!

yumyumpoppycat · 21/08/2017 16:33

Senator Grin it is a shame though as her story was amazing and has now gone a bit crap - if the show has done that for slimy old LF to still have a plot then that is shit.

MorvaanReed · 21/08/2017 16:33

I shouted at the TV twice, once at Sandor dithering because of the fire, I understand why and it makes sense, but I still yelled.

The second time was "Get on the bloody Dragon you tit!"

I agree that the super speedy travelling is irritating. I think it's all parcel of the "We've gone past the books, now we can speed the plot of this bloody expensive show up. The fans are really invested, they won't stop watching even if things get silly/Ghost lives up to his name and goes invisible/Arya goes from intense to psycho really fast."

AryaUnderfoot · 21/08/2017 16:36

Arya definitely needs to wind her neck in. The whole point of the faceless men is that they are assassins who kill the person they are employed to kill and no one else. There is no 'emotional' drive in their killing.

Arya has all of the technical skills of a faceless man but with the added baggage of anger and bitterness. She is on a very dangerous path.

yumyumpoppycat · 21/08/2017 16:42

I guess that is in theory why she failed at faceless man school - she couldn't let go of little girl Arya and has now gone back to exactly where she was before but a dangerous version. Although that works as a story it doesn't fit with the determination, moral code and bravery she has shown in previous seasons.

Trills · 21/08/2017 16:48

Why didn't Sansa say "they promised me if I wrote the letter they'd send hi to the Wall instead of killing him"?

That's true as far as I remember, and it shows that she was doing the best thing she could.

KentMum2008 · 21/08/2017 16:49

I also can't work out why Sansa sent Brienne away after being reminded (by LF? I actually can't remember) that she's the perfect person to intercede if things got tetchy between the sisters. I can't help hoping the 2 of them are plotting to try and catch LF out, but that conversation in Aryas bedroom was a bit too real. Unless they knew he'd be listening at the door?
Or maybe LF knew that by telling Sansa to involve Brienne, that she'd do the exact opposite? Aargh it's doing my head in because I just can't work out what's going on!

KentMum2008 · 21/08/2017 16:50

And also why didn't Arya just say 'I got it from LF room, he asked the maester for it' and then Sansa would know he's up to no good. Although if they are plotting and this is all fake, she wouldn't have said that because he'd know they're on to him.

Reminds me of that friends episode...'he doesn't know that we know' 😂

yumyumpoppycat · 21/08/2017 16:53

Yes the Brienne really didn't make any sense, it was like they forgot a scene that would have explained what Sansa was doing. I really hope there is a good plot twist on this.

AryaUnderfoot · 21/08/2017 16:55

I think Sansa sent Brienne away so that she (Brienne) could not be used in any plot by Littlefinger. Also, Sansa criticised Jon for leaving the north to treat with Dany (and who has not returned) so she can hardly do the same herself. Who could she send, Arya or Littlefinger?

I agree that Sansa did not do a great job of defending herself. She was probably a bit gobsmacked by it all.

The thing that really fucked me off was the snidely remarks about Sansa doing knitting while Arya was practising archery. Why were Sansa's choices of activity inferior to Arya's? Don't people in Westeros need clothing?

JAPAB · 21/08/2017 16:55

I like the light-sabres that company use. They hold them up, they start flaming from the bottom. Only thing missing was the voom sounds.

yumyumpoppycat · 21/08/2017 16:57

Unless she wants Brienne out of the way incase she sides with Arya OR she is worried that LF has bad plans for Brienne {grasping at straws}

yumyumpoppycat · 21/08/2017 16:58

sorry cross post.

AryaUnderfoot · 21/08/2017 17:02

JAPAB there was a very distinct voom sound when Beric extinguished his fire-sword after cauterising Beric's wound. I thought 'that's a bit naff'.

I was amazed that Gendry had time to worry about natural bear eye-colour when Iorek Byrnison was attacking them.

KentMum2008 · 21/08/2017 17:03

Agree that she couldn't just leave and go to Kings Landing, and I don't really know who else she could have sent. I'm starting to believe more and more that it's a plot against LF and knowing that Brienne would have interceded and potentially fucked it up, she sent her away. Brienne would love nothing more than to off LF but maybe Sansa wants to do it herself?

KentMum2008 · 21/08/2017 17:08

Oh but those swords 😍
I've never a been a huge fan of the BWoB but I took a real shine to Beric Dondarrion today. Still not a huge fan of Thoros, not massively upset that he's deaded. My heart nearly broke when I thought Tormund was a goner though.

The plus side of Brienne going to KL is that Jaime and Tormund will be there (he's on the boat right, and that's where they're off to?) so we'll see who she really loves. I'm all for Brienne staying single and fierce, but if I had to choose, Brimund is the 'ship I'd go for!

JAPAB · 21/08/2017 17:14

I was amazed that Gendry had time to worry about natural bear eye-colour when Iorek Byrnison was attacking them.

He wasnb't an undead bear? Will rewatch for the voom sound.
