WARNING: HERE BE DRAGONS (probably) AND SPOILERS

THIS THREAD IS FOR DISCUSSION OF SEASON 7, EPISODE 5 "EASTWATCH"

Come and discuss the fifth episode in the penultimate series, airing August 14th at 2am UK time! Don't read the thread if you want to avoid finding out what happens in Season 7 but also Seasons 1-6. Only three more episodes to go this season!!

Please avoid discussing leaks and production details for Seasons 7 and 8 but speculate away on what we have learnt from the new episodes and what it might mean for the rest of the Season and the ultimate winner(s) of the Game of Thrones. There is a spoiler thread running here if you want to talk about production leaks and insider information as well

How does speculation work on this thread. What are the rules?
confused. com

If I watch the last 2 episodes and am fascinated by how:

  1. Jon interacts with Dany generally - not bowing the knee etc, 2)then he touches the dragons... 3)the obvious sexual attraction between the 2 of them.

And previous posters have made many many comments on all 3 of the above....

And those comments are allowed....

And yet, I knowing nothing about the books, or spoilers, only based on the episodes I have actually watched so far ......mention .... who will Jon sleep with .....
based on watching... and the OBVIOUS sexual chemistry between them .....

Will it be Dany? will it not? if its not her, who will it be ......Will we see any sex scenes with him? will he produce a heir ........

And yet that 'is not allowed to be answered on this thread' because 'there's a spoiler thread for that'.

??????????????????????
Hmm

Jon is ok with fire, there was a scene when he threw a bowl of fire at someone in an earlier series it didn't harm him.

Was Lyanna older or younger than Ned?

BeyondQueenOfLists · 16/08/2017 11:07

Surely the spoiler thread is for discussion of the spoilers, any other speculation can go on these threads? I know I have suggested things in earlier threads that I knew def weren't gonna happen, as that was where discussion was pointing at that time. Is that weird?

RebeccaWrongDaily · 16/08/2017 11:07

and 'was all the gold destroyed' and how is Cersei going to repay the debt to the iron bank? Surely Jamie (who fled) didn't bring all the cash? and we know that Bron doesn't have his cash.

BeyondQueenOfLists · 16/08/2017 11:08

I am still disappointed that jons reincarnation wasn't via fire. Maybe it will be in the books...?

PhuntSox · 16/08/2017 11:15

If no one dead cen cross the wall is Jon stuck on the other side?

AryaUnderfoot · 16/08/2017 11:19

I know all of the leaked plots.

DH does not and we have not discussed any of them. He just watches the episodes as they air.

He has pretty accurately guessed at what the next steps are for virtually every storyline this season.

He is no great genius. It's just so obvious at this point.

It was a bit like Arya being stabbed in the guts last season. It was so blindingly obvious she was not going to die. What would have been the point in her spending all those years wandering Westeros and then training with the FM to just have her die in a canal. Meryn Trant was really not that important. Despite the fact that she should have died of her stab wounds, she just had too much plot-armour. Likewise, despite plate armour and a golden hand, Jaime was never going to drown.

At this point it does not take a genius or reading a leak to work out some events that are destined to happen.

It's quite clear that leaks are not being discussed on this thread because no-one has speculated on some of the less predictable events that are going to happen - only the utterly predictable ones.

squishysquirmy · 16/08/2017 11:43

I didn't think the gold was destroyed - I thought that they were busy loading up the last few waggons of grain when Dany attacked, and the gold and much of the grain had already been transported into KL.

DesertIslandPenguin · 16/08/2017 11:45

The elder Tarly rode up to Jaime and told him that all the gold was safely into Kings Landing before the dragon attack. Bron's bag of gold will be melted though!

QueenoftheAndals · 16/08/2017 12:23

The full episode for 6 isn't available though, is it? I looked online and could only find streams that were 52 mins when I gather it's meant to be 71. But I'm not sure if the 71 is with or without ad breaks - anyone know? I don't want to go to the other thread for fear of spoilers!

OlennasWimple · 16/08/2017 12:35

HBO doesn't have ad breaks mid-show, so the 71 is the full running time (including the "previously on" stuff and the very long opening credits)

OP posts:
BeyondQueenOfLists · 16/08/2017 12:49

Mine (starting at opening credits, no "previously on") is 1:07
And it's definitely available as I've just this second reached the end credits :)

SuperStormborn · 16/08/2017 12:52

Why would Jon be reincarnated by fire though ? he's not a full targaryen and isn't immune to fire (he burnt his sword hand in season one by grabbing the lantern to fend off the walker) so surely fire would just kill him

SuperStormborn · 16/08/2017 12:53

eeeek i refuse to watch leaked episodes but the temptation is killing me

BeyondQueenOfLists · 16/08/2017 13:02

Well yes, I don't mean that fire in general wouldn't kill him - just that his reincarnation is already magical (and back then it wasn't confirmed he was Targ anyway) and the red woman worships fire, so burning seemed a sensible way for the spell to work.

OlennasWimple · 16/08/2017 13:06

Beyond - can you PM me a link please? I'm out on Sunday night, so although I wouldn't normally watch a leaked episode I don't think I can wait until Monday evening......

OP posts:
AryaUnderfoot · 16/08/2017 13:08

olenna I've sent a link to one that I think still works.

BeyondQueenOfLists · 16/08/2017 13:12

I watched on kodi, don't think there's a way to find the link that it's actually streamed from (I had a quick look but can't see anything obvious)

3EyedRaven · 16/08/2017 13:22

Only if you believe that it's "right" to mistreat someone because of their ancestry
I mean, I don't, but it's certainly the case in the world on which they inhabit.

QueenoftheAndals · 16/08/2017 13:53

PM for me too please Beyond!

Puffpaw · 16/08/2017 13:57

Fascinating, so Jon may or may not be burnt by fire, Tyrion may or may not be a targ, but could ride dragons in any event.
I'm glad no more obscure plot points have been guessed arya still lots to look forward to.
Still totally intrigued by the white walkers and the babies. And what are the dragons eating?

QueenoftheAndals · 16/08/2017 13:58

Sorry, Arya, not Beyond!

SleepThief84 · 16/08/2017 14:21

I hate the leaking! I just clicked on an article explaining there had been a leak (to read the article) and the first comment was from some arse explaining what happens in the episode! I can't unsee it, gah!

I don't mind any discussion about what might/might not happen and predictions. That's half the fun! As Aryaunderfoot said some stuff is obvious, or at least obvious it's heading in a certain direction. Actual spoilers, well, they spoil it don't they!

Aridane · 16/08/2017 14:25

Sorry to be really dense - and I haven't read all the thread - but how did the lance thing get removed from the dragon? The previous episode should Danaerys ineffectively trying to pull it out
