A sudden flurry of posts following Cal's death has brought us to the end of the last thread. So let's continue as we were - there's so many unanswered questions. Have we seen the last of Gem as she heads back to incarceration? How will Charlie and Duffy cope with Robyn and the baby? Who is next in line to be stabbed? Will the illegal strike continue now that Cal isn't there to lead it? And most of all, will Ethan be reunited with his specs?

frazzle I just said to DH what's going on with Robyn (I fully excepted her to die this week from complications after her nosebleed!)

Please, please find a way to write out Duffy. I want to scream every time she's on screen

morningtoncrescent62 · 08/04/2018 17:15

Well, I thought that was the best episode in ages - almost like the old Casualty, storylines centred on patients not staff.

I was glad to have a respite from the Glen and Robyn story, which also meant we got less of Duffy, always a bonus. I'd quite like Ethan to be written out now - he's spending far too much time staring into space looking pensive and not doing anything. It gets tedious after a while.

There are so many characters who've become endlessly boring and irritating (even if they weren't to start with): Ethan, Duffy, Jacob, Elle, Robyn, Charlie but he can never be written out because the department would DIE without him - so I think what needs to happen instead of a major disaster to wipe them all out, simply focus more on the patient storylines then we won't get so much of the staff. They can simply fade into the background a bit more.

It’s right too

Dylan is the only reason I still watch casualty!

SuburbanRhonda · 09/04/2018 11:08

I love Dylan.

It’s rare to have a character so flawed yet so endearing and entertaining.

Just watched it. Only flaw I have is you have tol breath out into a breathalyser for much longer than that.

Much prefer the less attention to the staff lives and interrelationships.

morningtoncrescent62 · 10/04/2018 14:02

Dylan is far and away the best Casualty character. Next in line is Dervla (who we haven't seen for a while) and then his friend and mentor played by Chris Cagney as was (who needs to return permanently). After that, well, no-one.

Love Dylan.

I can't stand Rash. Duffy was super annoying this week too.

Still really enjoying older episodes on UK TV Play - here:

uktvplay.uktv.co.uk/shows/casualty/watch-online/?video=5767472584001

I find that despite hating Adam I love a lot more characters than I do now, from the mostly inoffensive bunch we currently have - Kirsty, Lenny, Yuki, Mads, Zoe, Jay, Ruth, Jeff, Dixie, Polly, Nick Jordan! Miriam was also fantastic but only there for a few weeks, it was Cheryl Campbell though so no surprises they couldn't afford to hang onto her very long.

It's also good to see a lot of current or more recent characters' actors appear in guest roles. Lily was an acid attack sufferer. Rita was a woman who had, aged 10, killed a schoolmate. Gem was a new mother struggling.

Have been struggling with the paramedics since Dixie left tbh, and with the show in general since Jeff died. It hasn't been the same since.

Dylan is still the best though. They've changed him a lot since he was introduced. He used to crack a lot more sardonic jokes.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 14/04/2018 21:33

Why do they give parents worrying news about their baby/child then immediately suggest the parents leave the child to go and get a coffee?!

frazzled3ds · 14/04/2018 22:15

Who knows?! Slightly tired of the whole Scott/Ethan/now a baby story - though I suppose it's all likely to build up to some kind of breakdown for Ethan....

Not sure what to make of Bea's story line - collapsed behind some bins?! Hmmm....

Missed seeing Dylan and his dry wit.

purpleme12 · 14/04/2018 22:40

I really felt for Bea today

ADarkandStormyKnight · 14/04/2018 22:43

Feels like the storylines are a bit predictable.

I perked up for a moment when I thought Noel was going to score but even that fizzled out.

GnotherGnu · 15/04/2018 00:19

Bea fulfilling her destiny early there. It's well known that every member of staff in Casualty has to turn up as a patient at some point.

frazzled3ds · 15/04/2018 11:12

I did momentarily wonder if she was stumbling back towards a tent or some other temporary home - she fibbed about where she lived before, has a clapped out car and only ever seems to be seen in a slightly dodgy pub when not in work..... think there's more to her backstory than we've been told.

purpleme12 · 15/04/2018 13:48

There's definitely things about Bea we don't know yet, yes.

They do have alarm bells in ‘real hodpitals’ and they panic the crap out the staff whenever they go off.

Why was there no Casualty this weekend?

I think Ethan and Scott’s Ex are going to start having a relationship of some sort.
