Is this going to be our new Revenge/Desparate Housewives fix? www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/feb/17/big-little-lies-nicole-kidman-and-reese-witherspoon-shine-in-masterful-twist-on-desperate-housewives

Ooh, t-minus 5.5hrs to go for the final episode here in the UK! Can't wait to find out what happened. Hope they don't leave too many loose ends!

Deux · 24/04/2017 16:27

Yes me too. I'm really looking forward to this. Not just the story but the scenery, houses, clothes and music.

DH hasn't been watching it so my dilemma is do I watch it live with him wittering about what's going on, watch after broadcast on iPad, watch tomorrow or hope DH decides to go to bed early. Decisions.

mikado1 · 24/04/2017 16:43

Can't wait!

TheShapeofYou · 24/04/2017 18:23

My dh text me earlier saying "I've got to work tonight at 9pm" and I thought "yay!". He will be WFH and it won't take him long, but I've told him I'm comandeering the main tv so tough!

Deux can't you ask dh to bugger off and let you watch it in peace?! Grin

Oblomov17 · 24/04/2017 18:32

I'm off to a school meeting in a minute. Can't wait to get back, for 9pm. Hoping I can watch it live.

Deux · 24/04/2017 19:18

theshapeofyou. Good idea. Trouble is I loathe to be disturbed and he's got an uncanny knack of appearing asking me if I'd like a cuppa just at the most crucial moment. I think I'm going to go for iPad and earphones on SkyGo app. At least then I can feign inability to hear.

I'm trying to improve my eating habits and another dilemma is do I buy myself a chocolate bar for later to enhance my viewing pleasure. Outside supermarket right now. Smile

TJDetweiler · 24/04/2017 22:06

I thought it was bloody brilliant. I hope they leave it at one season though.

ispymincepie · 24/04/2017 22:12

Me too. Was it true to the book?

Clawdy · 24/04/2017 22:13

It's been amazing. Loved the Elvis songs, building up the unbearable suspense. And that ending.......

Twixes · 24/04/2017 22:13

Excellent last episode. My husband guessed the very last bit right before it happened.

Oblomov17 · 24/04/2017 22:15

OMG
Bonnie? No way. Even before she pushed him, as she first looked at perry and Celeste fighting, as she followed him down, to where the 4 ladies were, Dh said 'what's it fit to do with her', which I thought was a very valid point.
It was just like bringing her in, at the end, for no reason.

So. That's it! Well, yes I've enjoyed it. But I feel a bit ...... unsure..... of what I think.

I liked the looks, between Madeline, and when Celeste realised it was Jane's attacker. Good acting.

Not sure what else I feel.

mikado1 · 24/04/2017 22:19

Excellent. Good on Bonnie, she had him sussed and thought Celeste was alone so she rightly and bravely followed and she wasn't going to stand for him continuing to beat Celeste on the ground, the others couldn't get him off her.

mikado1 · 24/04/2017 22:22

Bullying handled excellently by Celeste as mother of bully too.

Iggi999 · 24/04/2017 22:28

I remember his discovery about the apartment being incredibly chilling in the book and just as good here.

PossumInAPearTree · 24/04/2017 22:34

Rumours are there's to be a season 2.

Iggi999 · 24/04/2017 22:36

There's no book though, they'd have to write something. I'd rather leave them all in a better place than where we found them Smile

Clawdy · 24/04/2017 22:40

Liane Moriarty is considering writing a follow up story, not a book, but I hope she doesn't. I loved those last scenes, and want to leave them there.

mikado1 · 24/04/2017 22:41

Oh I couldn't bloody believe that about her phone!!!

HeyToTheHo · 24/04/2017 22:54

In the book bonnie does it because as a child she saw her father beating her mother, so she sees perry for the abuser he is and involuntarily lashes out to push him

Howaboutthisone · 24/04/2017 22:55

Just found this thread. Loved this series especially the final episode. I preferred the book but this was a good version- apart from the Madeleine's affair thing. I read the book a while ago but I think it gives a bit of an explanation of Bonnie being brought up in a home with domestic violence?

Howaboutthisone · 24/04/2017 22:56

Cross post!

TheShapeofYou · 24/04/2017 22:56

I loved it! So tense in places. I might watch it again Blush So glad it was who we thought all along, and not a massive random wtf curve-ball at the end.

Anyone else singing "sisters, are doin it for themselves!" In their heads? No? Just me then Grin

Agree the look between Jane and Madeleine said it all - fab acting. Loved how they were all friends at the end.

Anyone else find that cop flicking her lighter really annoying? I'm sure they only did it so that in the final scene you know she was watching, but still.

mikado1 · 24/04/2017 23:02

Again than you TheShapeOfYou, couldn't work out who was war and what the significance was.

Yy to Sisters are doing it for themselves!

Deux · 24/04/2017 23:58

OMG that was so so good. The acting was just superb and so nuanced. And the atmosphere, the tension, the scenery, the music, the singing, the clothes. So lush. So satisfying. When Jane realised it was Perry. Oh my.

The trouble with any follow up is it will have such high expectations and so often follow ups are duds.

I might have to rewatch the last episode and I generally don't do that (expect for Breaking Bad.)

GreenGinger2 · 25/04/2017 06:47

I think also with Bonnie in the book she always appeared so perfect to Madeline and all of the women spent the period before bickering but when when push came to shove( if you'll pardon the pun) they stuck together and showed great strength as women often do in shit times. I loved the shot of them all at the end with their children. Madeline stuck by Bonnie and gained respect for her.

I kind of don't want another series but also do as I miss the characters, scenery and houses.Blush

Many of LM's books are also very good. The newest one,not so much. Think NK and RW have bought the rights for another.
