Is this going to be our new Revenge/Desparate Housewives fix? www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2017/feb/17/big-little-lies-nicole-kidman-and-reese-witherspoon-shine-in-masterful-twist-on-desperate-housewives

I agree they have made Madeline a lot less likeable in the tv series. I'm not happy with the kiss/affair storyline. I also didn't like her husband ogling Bonnie and the other lady at the yoga 😠.

Missanneshirley · 05/04/2017 09:31

I'm watching it and feeling quite indignant on madeline's behalf!

Dozer · 05/04/2017 12:39

My mother really really dislikes madeline's ogling husband! She hates lecherous men. I enjoy her indignation!

DispatchReady · 06/04/2017 00:01

Madeline and Ed just don't "go" as a couple imo.

oldwife · 06/04/2017 09:37

I have missed a couple of episodes I think.
Will try and catch up today.

I have skim read this thread so as not to spoil it for myself.

Opinion so far is that it's a bit slow - I just hope it gets a little more exciting.

Missanneshirley · 06/04/2017 10:35

In the book they are a LOVELY couple with no hint of infidelity (unless I missed it!) I don't see why they changed it!

ReggaeShark · 06/04/2017 23:03

To make us think one or both of them might be up to no good. Thanks for the spoiler.

EachandEveryone · 06/04/2017 23:19

How is that a spoiler??

I'm in the UK and just seen ep4. Am absolutely hooked! I haven't read the book but I'm going to once the series has finished.

I'm a bit confused by the Jane storyline - not sure she is telling the truth?

Clawdy · 07/04/2017 23:12

Madeline and Ed are a great couple, love them. Wish I was as feisty as Madeline. I'm wondering if the twins are the bullies, think it may already have been speculated on .

JustGettingStarted · 09/04/2017 05:51

Having seen all 7 episodes, I'm good with NK's performance.

In retrospect, the other parents' snarky comments in police interviews are interesting.

HurricaneHalle · 09/04/2017 21:01

Hell NK looks odd! I can't quite put my finger on it but she doesn't look the same.

I also think her husband might be Ziggy's dad. Saxon Banks looks a lot like Perry.

Strigoi · 10/04/2017 18:46

Just Yes! I'm highly amused by the incisive social commentary coming out under police questioning. It's fantastic.

I'd love to talk more about the series so far but worried about posting spoilers.

Oblomov17 · 10/04/2017 22:32

5 made me most uncomfortable. The counsellor is clever. I like her style. But makes for very uncomfortable viewing.

Beelands · 10/04/2017 23:31

I LOVE Robin Weigert, she''s a wonderful actress. Can't believe she was Calamity Jane in Deadwood. Brill acting tonight from NK. Thought Laura Dern was overdoing it a bit.

Oh, and Santiago... I so would.

macnab · 10/04/2017 23:35

I don't know... I've watched 5 hours of this shite and still don't know who's dead Hmm I'm really only watching because I feel I've invested in it so have to see it through to the end! I really dont rate NK in anything this and it's putting me off. Her accent in the last counselling session was all over the place! Plus as others have said, so many things just wouldn't happen so it sort of makes a mockery of it. But hey ho, only 2 more so I'll soldier on and hope that the last episode makes it worth my while Smile

Clawdy · 11/04/2017 09:39

Didn't think Saxon Banks look at all like Perry. Can't see the storyline heading that way, far too obvious and unlikely.

Oblomov17 · 11/04/2017 10:44

Agree Clawdy. Far too obvious.
I am very confused. I think it was me who first suggested that he looks like Perry and I think that was episode 1 or 2 where we'd seen Jane's flashbacks : seen the man having the evening with her, she drinking wine in her blue dress, him leaning over her, with her and he looked very much like Perry.

his stance, his body silhouette. the aggression of the sex, his violence that seemed to like. then we saw his shoes, those brown posh shoes with the hole, running along the sand and I think also in episode 1 or 2 we saw Perry's wardrobe: his shoes all lined up.

And the way he dresses, so sophisticated so smart and we also saw him having violent sex with Celeste and the way he touched her and handled her reminded me of power and Jane's attacker.

But this was all very early on and then nothing happened in episode 3 I don't think.

Then in episode 4 last week suddenly, the 3 ladies, at the cafe having coffee, Madeline suggests that she's found an interior designer who looks like him - she put up a picture of Saxon banks and I'm thinking: who are you? You don't look anything like Perry.

and then what was weird was she kept that picture, Jane kept that picture on her laptop. Ziggy saw it she explained he was an interior designer.

I'm looking at him thinking maybe I've got this wrong as you don't look anything like Perry!!

And then finally in episode 5 Jane goes to meet Saxon banks and he is very odd looking, we hear no voices - Jane said she would recognise his voice and his smell and so she leans forward in, to try and have a smell of him ? and then she drops her bag I don't know if that's to imply that she is exposes the gun in her bag?

Then she runs.

but he doesn't have the finesse of Perry and he looks wise? , his hair is quite kind of red in his beard, quite gingery and his hair is nothing like Perry. Perry is very blonde, suave, coiffured.

And then finally at the end of episode 5 we see her at Celeste driving very quickly to the airport. and Perry coming back and once again I think we see his shoes the brown shoes.

oh no, that's right I'm sorry, actually it's earlier we see his brown shoes. when she imagining with her counsellor the fight over the Lego and we see his shoes again.

So now after the end of episode 5, I'm thinking maybe, I'm sorry ladies, maybe I made a mistake making that suggestion of Perry, because quite frankly, it looks nothing like him now and I'm starting to think that I have got this all wrong!!

FrangiePangie · 13/04/2017 07:40

Watched the latest episode last night. Have also read the book me which was much better IMO. Don't like the way Madeleine is portrayed in the show.

As a total aside, what type of yoga was Bonnie teaching when Ed went to talk to her? It looked quite fun!

Iggi999 · 13/04/2017 18:20

I loved (and yet was very uncomfortable during) the scene with the therapist, with the gradual pulling out of how bad things were. Really wished she was heading off to get on a plane!

Clawdy · 13/04/2017 19:39

Don't remember there being as many sex scenes in the book. And why does every sex scene involve the woman taking it from the back?Confused

DispatchReady · 13/04/2017 20:03

Only just caught up on episode 5 - really spooked me with the silences after the car accident and in Saxon's office then the loud music and flashbacks.

Therapy scene was excellent. I have no idea who is dead and what's going to happen but I'm enjoying it.

SkeletonSkins · 14/04/2017 13:10

6 and 7 are brilliant. Stick with it, worth it.

Cel982 · 14/04/2017 14:14

Jumping in here because I thought the therapy scenes in the latest episode were just brilliant, stellar acting from both women. Should be required viewing for anyone who wonders why victims of domestic violence don't just leave...

Fruitcocktail6 · 14/04/2017 14:18

I finished the series last night, I absolutley loved it. One of the best things I have watched in ages.
