I'm all up to date with the UK episodes, what is it now 5?

I love it! I think it's the best thing on TV at the moment, I like NK (sorry) I think they are all quite good.

My theories and I haven't read the book:

-Agree Perry could be the rapist
-One of the twins strangled the girl
-Bonny gets murdered? No idea why I think that.
-ziggy isn't right, his scary sleepwalking and appearing at her bed scared me!

The Ed/daughter thing I had not spotted at all, how did I kiss that? But she is very moody and cold with her mum, and when she saw her mum and Ed cuddling she sort of walked away in a huff.

But then she also did that when her daughter came and joined them at the piano, she walked off in a huff then too why?

IhatchedaSnorlax · 15/04/2017 22:30

It's definitely gotten better & NK has grown on me now too. I have read the book & think the series so far is doing a good job.

TheShapeofYou · 17/04/2017 21:40

Been on holiday and just caught up on episode 5 (I'm in the UK and haven't read book).

Agree that it's getting better and better, and that the counselling scene was brilliant (despite NK's Aussie accent slipping out here and there).

Loving all the theories on here! I'm itching to know who actually died. Is Jane telling the truth? Maybe her memory of the traumatic event is different from fact and she thought it was Saxon but actually it's Perry. After all, Celeste was telling her therapist that she had four miscarriages and then the twins were premature, so he probably wasn't getting his violent sex kick with her right then? Perhaps Madeleine realised a while ago and therefore did some Googling and came up with Saxon to throw Jane off the scent? (Or did Jane say that the rapist had said his name was Saxon Banks?!).

So many questions, and only a week to go til we (hopefully) get the answers! I can see me re-watching every episode, especially for the police interview comments from the other members of the community...

mikado1 · 17/04/2017 22:24

Excellent tonight! I think NK very good and am hoping she gets out by next week. Loved Iggy's dance moves!

TammySwanson · 18/04/2017 13:24

My theory is that Jane finds out about Perry being an abuser and kills him - they are definitely trying to make out she is cracking up (but maybe it's too obvious that they are doing that) and I think the fact that he's hurting Celeste, coupled with perhaps finding out that the twins are the ones hurting the girl (can't remember her name!), which is being blamed on Ziggy, could provoke her into doing it. From what I remember from the first episode, when they described the injuries, it seemed like a rage killing. I hope I'm wrong though because it would be so sad for Ziggy!

mikado1 · 18/04/2017 14:38

Oh gosh Tammy, that sounds very plausible! You're right though, awful for ziggy. I don't imagine Perry as the type to go to trivia night though he seems paranoid so probably wouldn't let her go alone. I definitely think one of the twins did it as they've seen their dad do it plus they were very definite that Ziggy didn't.

Oblomov17 · 18/04/2017 14:45

Just watched 6. Penultimate episode.

I'm worried that they have left us hanging on so many issues, that final episode 7 next week will be too crammed and rushed.

I too think boys, Perry and Celeste's boys are the bullies re Annabelle.

I think it's Perry that dies, because either Jane kills him or Celeste kills him, when it is exposed who he is. Or better still Jane and Celeste are together, when they say push him, and this will bind them as future friends, besides they are bound because their boys are all related, if ziggy is Perry's son. Jane should get some of Perry's money if that is the case. But Celeste and Jane are thus now bound forever.

Then his abuse will finally come out.

My favourite bit, this episode, was once again, same as last week, the counsellor and NK scene. Brilliant.

The daughter secret 'selling virginity' was getting on my nerves.

Clawdy · 18/04/2017 15:37

Not sure why people are talking about vibes between Ed and step-daughter. The plot must be changed if that's the case, because in the book he is just a lovely guy.

picklemepopcorn · 19/04/2017 07:27

I think the teen walking off in a huff when her little sister comes in or ed and Madeleine cuddle is just a teenage, blended families thing. She feels like she's not getting enough attention, so she tries a new home and sets up this big secret project.

The NK and therapist scenes are chilling, as is the handling of her body as his property all the time.

I think Perry might kill Jane when he realises who she is.

I was impressed by Jane and Celeste's conversation. So adulty. Don't think I could do that.

So glad I found you guys, no one else I know is watching it.

picklemepopcorn · 19/04/2017 07:28

Thank you Mikado!

mikado1 · 19/04/2017 07:38

You're welcome picklemepopcorn!

That's a thought 're Perry killing Jane! I was thinking about it last night [over-invested] and would be really be disappointed if Perry's killed as it's a murder case rather than self defence and I think it would be really wrong for someone to be charged for his murder after all he's done, and for them/their children to be punished, if that makes any sense? Given that this is what the entire series has been about, it wouldn't seem right.

I'm also thinking about the commenting by the other parents - I seems to be very much concentrated on Madeline/Celeste/Jane so one of them must be involved as victim/killer.. the fact the bullying/petition is brought up does make me feel Jane more so.

TammySwanson · 19/04/2017 15:07

They are still investigating (hence all the interviews) so not definitely a murder case (or at least not charged as one anyway) so could be manslaughter, etc, we don't know yet. I guess the police are going on the assumption that a violent death will be murder in their statements that they've seen. I really can't see Perry murdering anyone other than Celeste but who knows? (I know some of you do so no hints!) I think I will be very disappointed if Perry turns out to be Jane's rapist - it's a plot twist too far, imo. I am possibly over-invested in a TV programme.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/04/2017 15:49

Finslly caught up and on e6

I agree rapist is perry

He prob dies and is his wife who kills him. Not down to taping it due to the violence

And yes one of the twins is prob being the bully due to home life and what their dad does to their mum

Roll on e7

GreenGinger2 · 19/04/2017 22:09

Just seen 7,it was superb. Had forgotten the twist at the end. All tied up beautifully. Excellent adaptation of the book. Wondering if LM wrote the screenplay.

Was a bit sceptical re the calls for a second series but would really love there to be one now. Never really liked NK but having seen her in Lion recently and this my opinion has gone up hugely. All the main female characters were played superbly imvho.

Wonder if they'll adapt any more of LM's books. Incidentally the soundtrack of BLL is good, you can download it now.

God I soooo want a beachfront house.Envy

GreenGinger2 · 19/04/2017 22:17

Think the director did a fantastic job, wonder what he'll do next.

ReggaeShark · 19/04/2017 23:00

Think David E Kelly wrote the screenplay. I read somewhere that NK and RW are planning to adapt another of the author's books for TV.

Deux · 20/04/2017 21:58

I'm so excited for next week's episode. It does seem as though it's pointing to Perry as Jane's rapist.

But. I've just had another thought. what about what went on between Madeline and Theatre Guy. His wife suspects his infidelity and now Madeline has told her elder daughter. What if the murder concentrates on that? It's Madeline's big little lie.

mikado1 · 21/04/2017 08:07

But pp have that affair is not in the book at all so I hope that's not it. I don't think I'd have thought of Jane's rapist being Perry if it wasn't for this thread! Looking forward to Monday.

Deux · 21/04/2017 12:01

Bang goes that theory then. Smile

Delatron · 22/04/2017 08:17

The portrayal of DV is one of the most accurate I've ever seen. Having been through the same thing myself. It made me cry!

The reasons for the violence; fear of losing her, jealousy, feeling belittled. The fact he is so charming to everyone else. Never actually hitting her in the face so there are no marks. The instant regret. The reasons she doesn't leave..As said upthread, for anyone who doesn't understand why women stay in these relationships, this should be compulsory viewing..

PossumInAPearTree · 22/04/2017 16:06

Isn't it just going to be the one series?

Am really loving it and will read the book after the last episode.
