Is BBC iPlayer available abroad? I'm going on holiday on Friday so will miss the last episode Sad

SleeptightDaisy · 22/11/2016 12:52

Just a thought but does Henry Reed link to to Sophie as a doctor she may of seen whilst still held captive. She was pregnant and gave birth so may of needed medical help then and possibly he was killed due to something that happened prior to her release with appendicitis which in turn meant no doctor so she needed to be released.

ClaireBlunderwood · 22/11/2016 14:57

I have contributed nothing to this thread, but have absolutely loved it and am v grateful. It's really enhanced my viewing.

My only two slightly fresh observations are:

a) hmmm DIY. Drilla obviously does some both evidenced by his drill and by all those locks etc. Sophie's dad works in a DIY store. Yes, I know, tenuous, but well, you know, I'm trying.

b) in the Wolf rollercoaster photo, 'Alice' looks really weird. Nobody ever seems to say, gosh, really, but that looks like a man. She's wearing a big, covering-up jumper. I'm wondering if she's pregnant then (probably not a good idea going on a rollercoaster) or if she's recently given birth and that's why she's wearing such baggy clothes. I don't know how to drop in photos but it's here:
www.radiotimes.com/news/2016-11-02/the-missing-series-2-episode-3-recap-what-does-gemmas-rollercoaster-photo-mean

Lastly, rapping German twins. Yes they are ghastly, but also gruesomely hilarious.

SapphireStrange · 22/11/2016 15:01

I agree Alice looks weird in that photo. I find that rollercoaster thing very tenuous for that reason; every time someone points to it as 'evidence' I just think 'but it doesn't even look like her!'

To add insult to injury, Sophie in the photo is so BLATANTLY obviously the girl who came back as 'Alice'.

MissMooMoo · 22/11/2016 15:41

army iplayer won't work outside of the UK

Floellabenjaminsearrings · 22/11/2016 15:42

The photo is really weird isn't it? We are supposed to completely invest in the idea that a mother's intuition is always right, but how you can categorically say that is Alice is beyond me.

EnidButton · 22/11/2016 15:45

There's something a bit Clockwork Orange about the twins. Brilliant characters, horrific but really well done.

storminabuttercup · 22/11/2016 15:47

Agree about the twins. Wtf was that rap scene about?

EnidButton · 22/11/2016 15:51

Ooh twins and the brig/Eve buying two of everything...possible clue?
No idea to what but just in case.

LilMissVixen · 22/11/2016 15:56

Couldn't agree more about the rollercoaster photo. Every time I see it I think there must be a reason it looks so weird and distorts the true image of her. It's a TV show so they're not going to 'accidentally' have a crap photo of her.

ktel1 · 22/11/2016 18:29

The BBC has copies of the shooting scripts for the series episodes on the website.

The script for episode 3 where Gemma shows Eve the picture on the rollercoaster is here- I've added the link below.

Originally the photo was intended to show Alice as a "thin, pale girl wearing a banadana like someone in recovery".

mikado1 · 22/11/2016 19:29

Agree 're the picture-surely it should be believable as a grown up version of the girl in the very beginning? (As Sophie is) Confused

deadringer · 22/11/2016 19:44

Yes we are told that alice and sohie look alike but they certainly don't in that photo. Alice looks like that fella from scrubs to me.

twinniemummy84 · 22/11/2016 19:53

Just had a look on IMDb, some pretty revealing (so I won't say as I don't want to give spoilers) cast members. Not so much the actors more the parts they are playing

MoonfaceAndSilky · 22/11/2016 20:13

gruesomely hilarious. Grin Yes they really are.

NotPennysBoat · 22/11/2016 21:16

Ooo ktel and twinnie Shock

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 22/11/2016 21:16

Ooh I've just been for a snoop around IMDB too!

If you watched Salamander on BBC4 last year you may be surprised to know the rather attractive protagonist is the butcher Herz in this. It's fair to say he cuts less of a dash behind a prison table/meat counter and sans standard Euro Copâ„¢ leather jacket Blush Grin

ktel1 · 22/11/2016 22:42

I found the script interesting reading.

It clarified a few things that people were speculating about . Where there may have been some doubt as to the significance of a particular scene it is made quite clear in the script.

One example was the photo of Nadia bound and gagged. In the script the original photo was going to show her lying on the bed and smiling and it mentions that it was her husband taking the photo.

I think there has been some speculation as to whether it was her husband taking the photo or whether or not she was a willing participant or something more sinister.

This is just one example but when you read the script it gives the writers intent for other scenes that may have been a little ambiguous.

Elendon · 23/11/2016 07:49

I once had my photo taken on a log plume (Alton Towers). We all looked different. Angles can be deceptive.

LarkDescending · 23/11/2016 08:56

Eve (Laura Fraser) is on BBC Breakfast. Lovely Scottish accent!

LarkDescending · 23/11/2016 08:57

The ending to this series will be "shocking, disturbing and very satisfying" according to Laura Fraser.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 23/11/2016 09:11

I thought it was a bad photo of Alice simply to reaffirm that her mother knew her real daughter.

In the threads on Series 1, we all over-complicated things enormously spotting lots of little resonances that were unimportant to the events (but built the atmosphere). So although we have abductions, deaths and a cover up - and I think one mistake (Sophie saying her real name in the ambulance, without which there would have never been the link made and leading to unplanned actions), perhaps some of the apparently extraneous events are just that, extraneous.

MoonfaceAndSilky · 23/11/2016 09:16

The ending to this series will be "shocking, disturbing and very satisfying" according to Laura Fraser.

It better be satisfying, I expect all the loose ends to be neatly tied up. I'll be very disappointed if it leaves us thinking "...what??...so how come......? I don't get it!..." Grin

ArmySal · 23/11/2016 09:43

Aaah, thanks MissMoo.
