"is it possible the tests were run from samples taken from Sam in the hospital and from samples taken from the body (wherever they do autopsies in Germany) and the results sent to the army instead of the German police?"

Yes, it is possible that medics from the (German) hospital would have run the tests on both. But not possible that the results were not made available to both sides in a joint investigation where German police had primacy.

diddl · 19/11/2016 09:06

Perhaps the DNA was just an out & out lie started by Gettrick?

diddl · 19/11/2016 09:08

Also, didn't he say that what he & Sophie did was to stop people searching for Alice & Sophie?

So is Alice still alive?

And why would no one be searching for Lena?

OutwardBound2016 · 19/11/2016 10:19

Finally caught up after only watching Wednesdays episode last night. I agree with lots of what's already been mentioned but a few things are still bothering me, the second blacked out door in DK's house, the fact that Lucy mentions a basement and we haven't seen one yet and also the fact that I just don't trust/like Eve......

I still think Iraq and Sophie/Alice/Lena are separate and that there is a separate abuse at the garrison that Brig was involved in. I can't explain why but based on the first series and the fact that lots of people who are clearly involved don't seem to have knowledge of other things that have happened. For example Aldi is clearly involved in Iraq but seemed genuinely shocked when she saw the photo of Sophie on the camera.

LarkDescending · 19/11/2016 10:27

Improving when did Gettrick mention "the four of us"? Didn't see that in 2 viewings! I don't think it was in the creepy haircutting scene (about 47 min).

AntiHop · 19/11/2016 11:15

I think eve is involved and is a baddie. She was hostile to Julian from the beginning.

I think lucy is lena's child. I think Sophie was telling the truth when she said her child died. We know lena was 'troubled'. I think drilla was abusing her and abducted her when she got pregnant.

youarenotkiddingme · 19/11/2016 11:35

The other door appears to have the locks removed.

There is a basement - we see the stairs doing down when drilla gets on stairs to go up!

Yes the comment about stop them searching for Sophie and Alice hints at body being Lena. Maybe that's why Sophie burnt the glasses?
Also it may explain why the gap in abductions - Lena was taken to be the body - as we know drilla knew the family.

Iirc Alice seemed to recognise the person driving the yellow van? Didn't she go to the window first? Maybe she didn't realise they would kidnap her - and the grooming story has some clout in it. If it's considered she was abducted randomly it was pure chance a school girl was walking down such a deserted road during school time alone ready for the take!

ImprovingMyMH · 19/11/2016 11:41

Lark, I'm not entirely sure when I thought Driller mentioned making a life for the 4 of them - I think it was when he had the long talk with Sophie after he got home. Does anyone else think he said this?

I wonder about the Brigadier though - I know he's done something, but I wonder whether it's something as bad as we're generally assuming... It's just that we were shown quite early that he was a bad 'un (when Sophie spoke to him after she returned), so now we're a bit numbed to the fact that he's apparently ill with dementia, and that he was attacked etc. I just wonder whether this is mis-direction, and that he'll turn out not to be so bad after all? Maybe he found out about Driller and the 3x girls, and cooked up the Sophie returning thing with him to keep it all quiet?

OutwardBound2016 · 19/11/2016 12:30

Agree Improving, Brig is involved in something but not as awful as we think. I may be wrong but I feel suspicious of the chap who has taken over from Brig, the one Eve was talking to after he was attacked.....he mentioned that they didn't get on.....could he have been behind the cover up and wanted Brig out of the way?

LarkDescending · 19/11/2016 12:35

Improving I think I've found the bit you mean (in the shuttered bedroom scene). However, what Gettrick says is not "the four of us" but "before it was...[simpler]".

He goes on to talk about being a family, but the conversation is only ever about the three of them - Gettirick, Alice and Lucy.

The relevant bit of dialogue starts at about 42:25.

LarkDescending · 19/11/2016 12:37

*Gettrick, Sophie and Lucy I should have said.

ImprovingMyMH · 19/11/2016 13:19

Oh, thanks / sorry Lark Grin! I'm actually about to go to the GP about one of my ears Confused, I'm sure it's not right.

storminabuttercup · 19/11/2016 16:26

Another thought and I know driller isn't the ideal parent, but who is with Lucy while he is at work, disposing of bodies, in jorns house? Would he risk leaving her alone?

The80sweregreat · 19/11/2016 16:32

Storm, 'driller isnt the ideal parent' just made me laugh!

Poor little girl, i hope she is rescued.

EnidButton · 19/11/2016 16:39

Re Eve being a baddie. I get bad vibes from her, she seems very cold and has shifty eyes. She's unlikeable. Not totally sure if that's enough to think she's one of the bad guys or just a twat but I have my eye on her.

A there only one more episode??

EnidButton · 19/11/2016 16:40

Is there

kimlo · 19/11/2016 16:48

2 I think.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 19/11/2016 17:18

2 more episodes.

Eve is the person who called in Baptiste (retired - how did she even get his number?) No-one seems to have made a formal request to the French authorities, which at would have thought was standard procedure.

The Brig's dementia means that nothing he says can be relied on, unless corroborated.

Nadia is, it seems, about to provide that.

Another thing that might be possible is for Reed Junior not to be dead and for him to run into jolly fat bearded war correspondent and tell him what he knows about his father's role.

AnnieNoMouse · 19/11/2016 17:49

Storm - she's locked in a room when he's out (so the bad men can't get to her). We heard locks when he went into her room at the beginning of this week's episode and she appeared to be there alone.

ClassmateHB · 19/11/2016 18:19

Would they maybe have known baptiste was ill when they rung him? In 2012? The timeline hurts my head, but wondered if that was the plan, to blame him seeing anything unusual on his illness.....

ClassmateHB · 19/11/2016 18:20

I'm not sure if Eve is as she is as she's a baddie. Or whether she is that way because of her past (kidnapped? Abused? Who knows)

altik · 19/11/2016 18:22

classmate no Baptiste has his first attack whilst investigating the case in 2014. In the car with Jorn. By the sound of his wife's description in the last episode, it was unexpected.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 19/11/2016 18:22

I don't think we know when he was diagnosed, let alone when he rejected treatment options.

Though one thing, that is in with Series 1, is the bees, they represented the need for sustenance during a long winter and the need for hope there would be warmth again.

He no longer has bees.

altik · 19/11/2016 18:24

Also in 2015, Gemma makes reference to him having a bad year.

EnidButton · 19/11/2016 20:53

Will Baptiste die do we think? A series 3 wouldn't be the same without him.

Glad there are two more to go. There's far too much to cram into 1 episode.

True about Eve. We don't know her past yet.
