rumbelina - my hearing has totally gone - just rewatched it and he does indeed say 'confused' in a lovely accent. Disappointed now. Thought it was a clue!

ClassmateHB · 17/11/2016 21:49

Just looked on sky at next week's one sentence synopsis of the episode to come, and think the date and description means there will be a lot more answers next week.

ceeveebee · 17/11/2016 22:57

Yes the bbc website has an episode summary which gives a few hints (and the title too!)

Fiderer · 18/11/2016 06:39

I wondered why that episode was titled "Saint John". Quick look tells me he was the patron saint of love, loyalty, friendships - and authors Grin

(Was feeling spiritual looking that up till I saw he was the son of Zebedee and snorted unspiritually)

Also several places called Saint John but my head may explode if I even attempt any theories about them.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 18/11/2016 06:43

Well, it all rather depends which St John you mean. There are scores of them.

(I was wondering if it could be Kemble)

AnnieNoMouse · 18/11/2016 06:47

I had previously wondered if Saint John referred to John the Baptist who, IIRC, was born to older parents who previously hadn't had children. I thought it hinted at the baby farming/surrogacy angle. But nothing in this week's episode bore that out.

AnnieNoMouse · 18/11/2016 06:48

Just a thought, which may have been covered up thread. When Drilla mentioned the smell in Sophie's room was he referring just to the contents of the bucket or to whatever was in the other rooms, i.e. Alice or Lena's remains?

NoahVale · 18/11/2016 07:15

just caught up.
slightly boring episode.
ok, we know sophie lives with the driller and has a child and wants to stay with him.

anyone else worried when baptiste went to see wife of man with camera/butcher, he left his car window open and all those important papers he had in his car.

FurryLippedSquid · 18/11/2016 07:18

Have been lurking, but now adding in my tuppence worth....

Body in shed is Lena not Alice. Alice will be found alive (pleeeaaaasssee!).

If the three in Iraq are Henry Reed, The Brig and Aldi, then how is Gattrick involved with them all?

And who is the man who tailed Baptiste in Iraq and who then appeared to him as a vision in the canteen?

Sorry, more questions than answers. Can't wait for next week!

LillianGish · 18/11/2016 07:28

AnnieNoMouse - yes!

AnnieNoMouse · 18/11/2016 07:34

Another thought - St John - John the Baptist - Julien Baptiste - a lot of this episode was about him/his personal thoughts/life.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 18/11/2016 07:44

"if the three in Iraq are Henry Reed, The Brig and Aldi, then how is Gattrick involved with them all?"

Something popped into my mind about this when I was looking up pensions info.

Both Sam (Captain) and Driller (Major) are quite old for their rank and apparent length of service. This makes me think that both have been promoted through the ranks rather than being direct officer entry.

If that is the case, I think that the Iraq 3 were the three officers who covered up after one of the men did something appalling. Bodged investigation, possibly not 100% sure who did it (or like Sam refusing to contemplate 'Alice' wasn't Alice, refusing to entertain certain lines of thought/action) plus lengthy cover-up etc. stuff that they would want to keep quiet.

But the doctor (Lt Col at time of death, likely to be young captain RMO in 199) had a conscience to the extent of paying blood money. Nadia had cold feet at some time, but was blackmailed into silence with those pix. Stone just buried it in his mind (which has now given way).

If that was the backdrop, a remaining question is why was Reed senior murdered?

In what order did the three girls on the roller coaster go missing and at what interval? Sophie was before Alice, but when does Lena fit in?

GrumbleBumble · 18/11/2016 08:05

Sophie was taken first, then Alice less than a year apart. Lena was taken about 7 years later but is only a year or two younger than Alice and Sophie as she was older than them when she was taken.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/11/2016 08:31

SO we all agree that lucy is not Sophie's dd but Alice's ?

I didn't realise Baptiste was in the first series. Will definitely have to watch it then.

Why has Jorn's body not been found yet? It was in a car park bin in all its glory!

Driller used Jorn's phone to text his Jorn's work mates to say that he was away for a few days. That will stop them wondering where he is. I'm guessing in next episode someone will twig that he has been away for too long and they haven't heard from him. And there will be some looking through his computer history (by Eve?) and realising that he had been looking (and had 'found') Lena. And that will lead a trail back to Driller.

Was wondering why Driller went to Jorn's house? (He had to hide when Baptiste came looking for Jorn). He didn't need to did he? He was packing up Jorn's clothes, but that was AFTER he had left the body in the car, so I'm not quite sure what that was all about. Surely he will have now left his DNA at Jorn's house?

SouthWestmom · 18/11/2016 09:11

She's locked in in 2015 so she can't confer with the other girl. Weird though that the child wasn't locked in in the present day.
