Sophie hasn't given birth as doc at hospital said she hasn't - yet as Alice she said she has

I thought they said she HAD? Which Sophie do you mean?

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 17/11/2016 18:07

Doctor said the girl treated in hospital had given birth. Later it became clear that was Sophie.

ImissTerry · 17/11/2016 18:07

When Julian was having the struggle with Brig and after the nurses came in and told him to stop. Julian says 'he was conscious'. What can that mean?!

Fiderer · 17/11/2016 18:08

The doctors who performed the appendectomy said she had given birth.

So I'd take that to mean that she said Alice hadn't - and she was playing Alice - then when the medical evidence showed the contrary, Sophie admitted it.

altik · 17/11/2016 18:09

Yes, they definitely said Sophie had given birth... they said she had stretch marks and other signs of giving birth.

Also not convinced that Reed helped Sophie escape. He died on 14/12. Sophie died on 22/12, but Gemma said when she died that she had only returned 4 days before - so 18 or19/12.

Also, with regard to having plenty to blackmail Reed about - that's assuming they knew! If they didn't know, they couldn't have blackmailed him.

GrumbleBumble · 17/11/2016 18:12

lilmiss I don't think Reed's car is missing it wasn't at his house when the prostitute went in and saw his body but it appeared later - this is why it is thought he didn't commit sucide as someone must have moved it after he died but I can't recall any reference to it then disappearing.

Fiderer · 17/11/2016 18:16

Anyone else think we'll still be here in 3 months time working out who/when/why/haircuts ?

MyHairNeedsASnip · 17/11/2016 18:29

I saw that eve had her watch on her right wrist in the last episode. Could she be covering a web tat or am I just being silly and letting my imagination run away with me Grin

BurnTheBlackSuit · 17/11/2016 18:34

As I said last night, I think 1991 Iraqi IS significant. It was the year Sophie and Alice were conceived if info by pp that they were abducted in 2003 aged 11 is correct. I can't work out how their conceptions are connected to Iraq though.

I think Alice was dead in the shed. I think it was Sophie's idea to put her body there as a pretence to freeing her and drilla, but actually so that her parents would get her body back to bury. She must have died shortly before Sophie returned as Alice... maybe connected to Henry Reeds death? Maybe he tried to rescue Alice?

I didn't get the feeling Sophie was Lucy's mother, but I think she is trying to protect her. Maybe Sophie and Alice both had babies, but Sophie's died?

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 17/11/2016 18:57

Anorak point about military and DNA.

The policy of collecting samples from personnel sent to the more dangerous operational theatres was introduced in 2009. And it's an actual sample that is retained, the analysis of DNA is performed only when there is need. So there is no time to be saved by using Sam's military sample. Though it is possible the sample was switched - but that would make a difference only if if was switched with the genuine corpse father. Or the shed girl sample/results were interfered with, to match real Sam. Or both.

This would require access to confidential medical records, or active collusion of several staff (who tested the DNA samples, it would be too noticeable if no tests were done) and strong possibility that German co-investigators would notice.

Now, because we have seen so much of Gemma, we want to believe she could still be alive (much as Sam wanted to believe 'Alice' was Alice, but obvs not as intense) and are ready to buy in to the idea that the garrison is riddled with criminality.

But it could all be a red herring, and it is simply the case that Alice died in circumstances as yet unknown and body was disposed of in the fire, arranged by Driller and the much-groomed Sophie.

What's on my mind is whether the incident with the Iraqi girl took place in 1991 (as we are led to believe by date of flashback) or if there has been a subsequent tour (after 2009 when DNA sampling began) when they all went out again, including Sam.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 17/11/2016 19:17

Someone killed Reed, they must have had a reason to do that.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 17/11/2016 19:22

Motive, not reason.
I need to get my murder mystery terminology together.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/11/2016 19:41

Oh god. I don't know. Have confused myself with Sophie and Alice

Thought Sophie as Alice said she had given birth but died

Sophie in 2016 I don't think is Lucy's mum but wants to protect her as prob knows. She will get raped /used for sex when older

Sophie, whilst 'Alice' was found by doctors to have physical signs that she had given birth.

She denied it to Gemma at first. Then said her baby had died. We do not know if this was throughout, or just something she said to extinguish any hopes Gemma/Sam might have had if a grandchild.

We simply do not knowing enough of her character to know what she is likely to do in terms of sparing the feelings of others.

FredWilson · 17/11/2016 20:03

Does anyone think that Baptiste will get the blame for the murder of the young German policeman?
Baptiste left a message on the policeman's phone . I think he said he needed his help again and wanted to meet up. Baptiste also went to the policeman's house. Somebody may have seen him there.
Plus he has attacked the soldier in the canteen and Stone.
So , very ill man who is suffering hallucinations and and has attacked 2 people already, leaves a message saying he wants to meet policeman, who no doubt will be soon be found dead in a car boot. Would that not make Baptiste look like chief suspect ?

GrumbleBumble · 17/11/2016 20:25

Allpowerful my theory is she denied having a baby at first because she was being Alice and Alice hasn't had a baby. When she knew that noone believed her saying she didn't have a baby she started to tell her truth but she couldn't let the Webster's think there was a grandchild or they would look for it and we know from Drilla that the ID switch of the girls was to stop anyone looking for them so she had to say the baby had died to prevent a search. If my theory is right this means Alice hasn't had a child and Sophie only has one who is still with her until 2015 so this seems to rule out baby farming. Of course we don't know is Lena has had any children.

Optimist1 · 17/11/2016 20:28

I can see the logic of Alice being dead in the shed, but that would make Baptiste wrong and he's never wrong!

youarenotkiddingme · 17/11/2016 20:28

Ok totally reading probably fffaaarrrrrr to much into Sophie's picture but....

Could the dead person be Sophie's child. The 2 other people be Alice and Lucy and the picture that's so obviously Sophie by the big wide eyes is larger because she's protecting her now?

So the truth was Alice had a baby, the truth is that Sophie gave birth and she was telling the truth when she said her baby died?

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 17/11/2016 20:36

"I can see the logic of Alice being dead in the shed, but that would make Baptiste wrong and he's never wrong!"

And so, if you're never wrong either Optimist1 Grin that means that Sophie's father is also involved.

ImissTerry · 17/11/2016 20:51

i'll ask again! Who was Baptiste talking about when he said 'He was conscious'? This was just after he'd had the tussle with the Brig in the nursing home and after the nurses came in. SOMEBODY MUST HAVE AN IDEA!!!!!

rumbelina · 17/11/2016 20:55

ImissTerry he said "he was confused" at the home. I don't know why he didn't say "he bloody attacked me first" They never do in these kind of things, stand up for yourselves, people!

Also from ages ago - drillakilla did say to someone at some point about his lump sum. I can't remember the scene but remember wondering what % you can take as lump sum.

EnidButton · 17/11/2016 21:00

rum that always drives me up the wall too. Just tell them! But no, they mumble something that's only half the story and everyone blames them. 🙄

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 17/11/2016 21:01

The body in the shed was far too large to have been a child of Sophie or Alice.

EnidButton · 17/11/2016 21:07

This isn't a theory or anything, just pondering, but they seemed to focus on the teeth when the body was burning in the shed. Could that be significant at all? No idea how just remembering the reference to knocking teeth out and Aldi losibg her teeth.

Nah. Actually I still think either the body was Alice or it was Lena and they lied about the dna. Most likely lied.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 17/11/2016 21:18

More information than you could possibly want on Armed Forces pensions here: www.mod-abc.co.uk/MoreInfo.aspx?code=PENSION

You qualify for a lump sum when you retire after you have completed a qualifying period of service, and how much that is depends on how long you have served, what rank and which pension scheme. How old do we think Driller is? And did anyone clock what rank he was wearing?

It's likely to be several tens of thousands.
