Tell us more Courtney! How was it?!

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 08/10/2017 13:46

It’s all about the ending. That is all I will say Wink

ToniMumsnet · 08/10/2017 13:51

I wonder if i can get a friend to take my lot to school so I can watch it first thing?

SenecaFalls · 08/10/2017 14:51

I'm getting ready to watch it now. In the US it is broadcast on Sunday night but Starz subscribers get an early release.

SeveredPixieBits · 08/10/2017 14:52

God, I can't wait for tomorrow! I'm betting that it ends as he faints. I loved that bit so much in the books. And later him worrying that he'd wet himself from shock Grin So happy to hear about an extended episode 6.

GreatWhites · 08/10/2017 14:58

It looks as though they're in Madam Jeanne's at night which is fairly true to the books.

Grin Grin Grin

SeveredPixieBits · 08/10/2017 15:01

I've just caved and ordered Snow and Ashes from the library. (I've only read to the end of Fiery Cross). I was going to wait until after this series had ended so as not to mix myself up, but sod it!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 08/10/2017 15:37

Very good point made above that had she stayed in 1746 onwards, Claire would have spent most of her time either pregnant or breastfeeding.

Yes, she and Jamie look far too young in series 3 but I'm suspending belief as I don't want to see Jamie toothless because of scurvy.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 08/10/2017 15:54

I'm going to abstain from episode 5 until 6 is released and have a outlander fest, complete with husband (who is now totally on board) and vino. Hope I can hold out!

quirkychick · 08/10/2017 15:56

Though, as "Red Jamie's" wife, Claire would have had a pretty difficult time, unless she'd stayed in the cave with him Grin

Jamie is a good boy and eats his greens, so no toothlessness from scurvy.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 08/10/2017 16:51

I have far too much time on my hands....
So just HOW good should Claire look when she returns 20 years later?

She was born in 1918, the same year as the beautiful actress Rita Hayworth who was one of the top stars of the 1940s.

This photo shows Rita in 1968, the year that Claire returns to the past through the stones.

Rita did not have to contend with british food rationing during and after WWII, or the privations of 18th century life.
However she had been married and divorced 5 times by 1968...

Claire would have looked much better than other 18th century women of her age when she goes back. I think there are some references to this in the books. She would have had the benefit of living in the twentieth century in the US, with modern medicine, and probably most important birth control and dentistry, in addition to skin care and other beauty regimens that would be available to her.

AKAmyself · 08/10/2017 17:14

I hate to spoil the fun, but may I just remind you all that this is a series about time travel.

And yet here we are pondering the likelihood of Wrinkle- free ageing and never ending sexual stamina in your fifties Grin

ToniMumsnet · 08/10/2017 17:43

Have we considered whether it's possible that time travel has an anti-ageing effect?
I'm just saying Doctor Who stays looking young for hundreds of years.

AKAmyself · 08/10/2017 18:05

That must be it Toni Wink

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 08/10/2017 18:06

I’d like to know why they’re dressing Brianna as a member of the Partridge Family. I know it’s supposed to be the 60’s but she’s a hip young thing, not a middle aged housewife Confused

shittyshitybangbang · 08/10/2017 18:46

Why oh why do we have to wait 2weeks for episode 6, I just watched ep5 and omg the last 5min I was holding my breath.

LonelyOversharer · 08/10/2017 19:25

What time does ep5 hit amazon prime? Is it very wrong that I am contemplating staying up? I usually work until 1am anyway.

I still can't believe we have a 2ww for ep6.

shittyshitybangbang · 08/10/2017 19:32

I watch it on a link a friend of mine sent me. I couldn't wait till tomorrow to watch it on amazon prime.

AKAmyself · 08/10/2017 19:36

lucky you - I watch it on iTunes and it isn't released until early tuesday - which means i get to watch it tuesday night.

I tried watching over those free streaming links but the quality is so hit and miss and I've decided this is worth paying for :D

Whatthefoxgoingon · 08/10/2017 19:47

I have to hide this thread for 2 weeks

LA LA LA LA LA LA LA

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 08/10/2017 20:19

SORT OF SPOILER

and omg the last 5min I was holding my breath

Me too! I don’t think I’ve ever felt quite so anxious and nervous watching a tv show. It was very well done though. And now I have to wait two whole flippin’ weeks! 😫

SenecaFalls · 08/10/2017 20:25

The whole episode was very well done.

snozzlemaid · 08/10/2017 20:57

@LonelyOversharer Episodes appear on prime at 5am so don’t stay up tonight. Maybe get up early tomorrow though.
I’m definitely getting up at 5 to watch episode 6 before I go to work. I want to watch, enjoy and sob on my own. If I don’t see it then I’ll have to watch with dp in the evening.

LonelyOversharer · 08/10/2017 21:10

Thanks snozzle early start for me then! Can definitely dodge the school run. Not that I should...
