Sorry, I don't have anything new or exciting to offer. But I love Outlander. The costumes are incredible, the scenery is amazing and the story is the best. I really can't wait to see how they manage the ship from Voyager. I know they have used the ship from Black Sails.

Yes, I'd watched the 1st two seasons before I started reading the books. Currently working my way through Book 5. But I'm really tempted by the LJG books. I should give Black Sails a go as it has Toby Stephens in it and I loved his Mr Rochester.

Perhaps we need to start a box set club. Like a book club except we are watching box sets instead. Black Sails seems a good place to start.

Am I the only one who can clearly see that it's not Boston, but permanently a wet autumn day in Glasgow. Does Boston even have anything like the Glasgow tenements? But this is me being far too picky.
I also have no friends who watch this (or read it) . So I am so glad I have found you all.

I've spent a lot of time in Glasgow, but not Boston. I don't find the accents too bad, but I spend a lot of time in Scotland. The puddle was an excellent touch. I'm really interested to see how the adult Fergus looks.

I always imagined Brianna a bit like Boudica. I know, not helpful when there is no visual imagery. But I am liking the Brianne of Tarth comparison. Especially given that Frank taught her to ride and use a gun. ned Gowan is a fantastic character, but I always had a soft spot for Rupert.

The books are full of descriptions of the varying colour of Jamie's red hair, frequently describing it as being like a flame.
Now you mention it, that is so true. I can't believe that has passed me by 5 books in. But the characters hair is always commented on. Clare's curly hair, Jamie's amber locks and Roger's Thick black hair. If I remember correctly it's not just the hair on their heads that are described at length.

I am glad they skipped all the dress buying and discussion at the stones with Brianna. It worked so well with Claire getting out of the taxi and stepping off the coach in Edinburgh. I hope in this version she bought a lot more penicillin though.

Yes, they did such a lovely job in Episode 5. And i thought Episode 4 was an emotional rollercoaster.

If I am remembering book 3 correctly, doesn't Clair go to the stones on her own only to find Bree and Roger there and Bree is dressed up to. Bree then tells her that if she won't go back to Jamie then she will.

No one would read the later books as standalone, though, would they?
I have always wondered that myself. Because DG frequently explains things as if you are a new reader. But surely no one would have a clue what was going on if they read the 4th or 5th book first?

Isn't there a whole thing about using stones and thinking about someone? So Claire got home the first time because she thought about Frank and then in Voyager Jamie. Bree was thinking about Claire and Roger almost failed initially because he wasn't using a stone and thinking about Bree at the same time. As Bree was annoyed with him because he was her passage back. Hense he went in search of the stones.
So I guess Gellis was thinking about someone or something specifically along with all her stones and flaming husband. Its all a bit tenuous. Are we supposed to assume Clare was thinking about Jack Randall the first time as she appeared when he was there?

I'm halfway through book 5 at the moment. They are out hunting a ghost bear. (sounds like a polar bear). very worried about Roger. Surely after everything, they can't leave him like that. TBH the book is the only thing that will get me through the next week. I tried rewatching 'The Crown' and that didn't help at all.
