Lassies you have to watch this if you haven't seen it.
Jamie and Claire in modern day therapy

Love Jamie's tartan under his leather jacket.

FridgeCut · 11/09/2017 20:19

I saw that on facebook and then lost it, it was brilliant!

JuneFromBethesda · 11/09/2017 20:26

OMG that's brilliant snozzle

They are awesome. It's so nice that they obviously get on so well. happy fangirl sigh

DryWhiteagainW · 11/09/2017 21:13

OH MY GOD IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just finished watching, going to get a cuppa and watch it again. Totally agree taht the writers have nailed all the best bits of the book whilst getting rid of the waffle.

Snozzle I love that YouTube clip' really brilliant. They have such chemistry wish they'd just get together pathetic

snozzlemaid · 11/09/2017 22:15

Just finished a rewatch. Welled up again when Rupert was shot. So, so sad.

LonelyOversharer · 11/09/2017 23:00

I was on the thread before, but have nc since then...

It just turned up on my watch list! I knew it would be on soon, but hadn't checked the date (didn't want to in case it had been put back). I am soooo happy. Watched it twice already. Why do we have to wait a week now?

This is just perfect telly isn't it? Nothing else comes close. In prep I listened to voyager (and the next two, as you do) on audio while I worked. Might just squeeze it in again before bed...

AKAmyself · 12/09/2017 05:40

Helllllloooo lassies!!! So good to be back!

Watched it last night. No words. It was just perfect, sams acting out of this world, the whole opening scene of a field full of dying men, the slow execution of the prisoners and their courage and composure in the face of death, Jamie desperately wanting to die and his face when he sees Jenny (Jenny!)...

And Claire and Franks piece was also incredibly well done. I can't like frank, and I never understood book Claire in this respect, but Caitriona and Tobias utterly fantastic and giving so much depth and complexity to their characters. And the birth scene - omg how horrible and powerful was it? Much more effective at conveying the patriarchal oppression of those times than the somewhat contrived chat with the neighbour with the worst American access of all time.

All in all - splendid and I'm so, so glad it's back!

AKAmyself · 12/09/2017 05:41

Btw The first part of voyager with McDub and the prison are my favourite part of the whole saga. Cant wait to see Jamie growing into his full leadership.

FridgeCut · 12/09/2017 08:21

The American neighbour is the Welsh actress from fresh meat, odd casting choice I thought :)

SeamusMacDubh · 12/09/2017 08:42

Ahhhhh thanks Fridge, I was struggling to place who she was!

FannyFifer · 12/09/2017 12:23

Well new episode didn't disappoint.

JediStoleMyBike · 12/09/2017 12:39

Cried my eyes out over Rupert. Cried my eyes out when Jaime got home. Felt sorry for Frank against my better judgement (of loving Claire and Jaime far too much). Amazing.

snozzlemaid · 12/09/2017 15:57

Just been thinking about this again (not that I'm obsessed of course) and oh my god I can't wait until they're back together.
I will enjoy following their stories whilst apart, but it makes my heart skip to think about them being together again. They just work together so well.
I have high hopes for the reunion, let's hope it doesn't disappoint.

Lessstressedhemum · 12/09/2017 17:30

I think they will Rock the reunion, sozzled. I can't wait.
Sam was so good, yesterday, he is a brilliant actor.

snozzlemaid · 12/09/2017 18:10

Do you think it'll become the new 'wedding' episode that we'll all watch over and over?

DryWhiteagainW · 12/09/2017 20:11

I think it will Snozzle, we will need to get the vapours no bitter cascara out for episode 6 Grin
Btw I did an inward cheer at the 1 "Mark me" and 1 "Jesus H Rosavelt Chirst"........are we going to reinstate the drinking game?!!!!!! Grin

FridgeCut · 12/09/2017 20:40

I don't think anything could top the wedding episode, could it? I may need to rewatch, it is my favourite episode of any show ever. Ever.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/09/2017 20:48

Ayup Lassies, I was on the thread for last season but namechanged. Nice to see you all and 'bitter cascara' and 'mark me' made me lol.

Can't say I cried at this episode (even at the Rupert bit) but I wonder if reading the books has spoiled it for me a bit. I think the problem I'm having is that J & C spent a lot of last series apart or doing separate things and I need to see them back together forever again. Actually liked Frank this episode and felt sorry for him, which makes me think they'll have handled other 'situations' just as well. Also, I've got EVERYTHING crossed that Murtagh has somehow managed to survive Culloden.

Oh, and there'd better be A LOT of the thing that what was lacking last season and what made Season 1 so good, if you know what I mean Wink

madamefraser · 12/09/2017 23:23

Just too many things that were good to talk about them all ! Sam's acting is underrated - it was so moving .

RaininSummer · 12/09/2017 23:41

Excellent stuff.

Amibambini · 13/09/2017 13:06

I had an intense fling with Outlander, fell completely head over heels in love/lust with it when I discovered it halfway through the release of the first series. Binged those episodes, LOVED the chemistry between Sam & Cait, then read the first book over a few days while awaiting the rest of the season. The book starts brilliantly but I have to say I hate-read the last quarter of it. It reads like rubbish fan-fic. I still liked the characters to want to know what happened to them so made it through to the third book but by the end of that I'd definitely fallen out of love with it all and stopped there. Like that hot lusty fling that fizzles out when you realise how deeply stupid their views are.

Kinda half watched the second series while editing photos (need mindless background media sometimes..) and it was ok, nothing mind blowing.

It popped up on my Amazon yesterday while in the middle of a mindless edit session so flicked it on, and I got no work done at all. It was REALLY good. I loved the stuff in Boston with Claire, it's shit being a smart woman in a patriarchal society. The birth scene.. AngrySad. And Sam is so beautiful, a delight to the eyes.

I think I may have reignited my hot fling.

gamerwidow · 13/09/2017 17:13

Last season was a bit meh because of the boring plotting on France. It's always a better show when it's focussed on people and relationships rather than events.
Loved the opener it's the first time for ages I've felt the show is back to its season 1 best.

LonelyOversharer · 13/09/2017 18:17

I'm really hoping that Murtagh is waiting in Ardsmuir for Jamie to get there. He'd be a good man to take Innes' part? Surely they can't introduce too many new characters? Then he can go to the States with them too. Am I being a bit wishful? But I can't remember Rupert being in the barn when they were all shot bar Jamie, so they are integrating the old characters in. Plus Willie married and went to the States in series 2, but not in the book, so maybe he will turn up to help once they get there.

Can't wait. Is it not monday yet? I've watched ep1 4 times. How's everyone else doing?

I love series 2, the episodes back in Scotland especially, Hail Mary is beyond excellent, "I think we'd better go" no shit Mary!

DryWhiteagainW · 13/09/2017 18:44

4 times here too Blush

Am I a bit thick? I was pondering episode 1 in the shower this morning and was wondering whether Clare finds Frank so repellant simply because he's not Jamie or is it because he reminds her of BJR too?

LaurieFairyCake · 13/09/2017 19:12

I was SO bored of France. Glad that's over.
