I presumed Benjen was going to lead the merry band to the Wall to Jon et al.

CaitAgusMadra · 13/06/2016 16:04

Just a quick recommendation for The Citadel Guardian podcast. I've been really enjoying it for the last few weeks, it's a bit different to a lot of the other GoT podcasts

OlennasWimple · 13/06/2016 16:37

So many unanswered questions....

Is Gendry still rowing around in a boat?

Is Yara going to seek revenge on Ramsay?

Is Sansa pregnant?

Where is Baelish now?

Is it important there's another Taegaryen still alive up on the wall?

What's Melisandre been up to?

Has Ser Jorah cured his stony disease?

At least we know Grey Worm can't tell jokes though Hmm

PoisonWitch · 13/06/2016 17:44

What targaereon? On the wall? Aemon died or at a t least did in the books.

Well disappointed this week. So much Arya foreshadowing for fuck all pay off. So she was just happily lurking weaponless in a bridge for no reason? Shitty writing this week.

Hound story and red keep good. Noticed queen of thorns in crowd. Wasn't she supposed to leave? Why wasn't Maergery by Tommen's side?

Rivverun story line utterly shit. Advanced plot precisely zero. Was hoping Jaime was ordering Tullys to go North thus getting castle and helping Brienne. Didn't even get away with Blackfish. Hmm Didn't even get to see Blackfish did in blaze of glory. HmmHmm

Terrible episode.

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 13/06/2016 17:46

"CUNT!"

Best line of the series, that one.

BelfastBloke · 13/06/2016 17:59

Yeah I've wondered about The Citadel Guardian podcast. Started listening to one of them and it did sound quite good.

TheNorthRemembers · 13/06/2016 18:37

Varys's destination is known by the book readers, but without the Young Griff I cannot see the point. He wants chaos, so that Targaryen restoration becomes desirable. Charm offensive is out of the question with Dany in charge, so he needs to take more drastic steps.

Arya can get to Winterfell in time easily for the next episode in Littlefinger's or Brienne's helicopter.

I still maintain that Jaqen's endgame is to take out Dany and the dragons. That is the Braavosi endgame.

The short description for next week says something like "Ramsay surprises his audience" which to me sounds more like grooming Rickon (Dark) Stark than flaying him. But who knows.

Edmure sounds shitty in the show (and I disliked him in the books together with his utterly boring sisters), but in the book he is the one character who cares about his smallfolk. He tries to save them and shelter them all the time.

ILikeToClean · 13/06/2016 19:15

Agree the Arya storyline was a bit disappointing, but I suppose it was always going to be a let down due to all the wild theories! It just didn't make sense that she was swaggering about last week, I know she wanted to draw the waif to her dark place, but still got to be less risky ways. The running along the streets with severe injuries, falling for miles and then getting up, it just wasn't typical GoT - more like an action movie where the hero never dies! First time GoT has disappointed me I think!

bettys I also thought Jaqen had a little smile of satisfaction when she went off and part of me wondered if he would rip his face off and reveal himself to be Syrio!

Ooh the Mountain - wtf are those eyes about? You don't want to mess with him, but it played into the HS hands as no trial by combat now he knows what he can do! Yes why wasn't Margary with Tommen?

Liked the Hound meeting up with Beric and co, think he should join them.

Didn't get the attack on Mereen at all! And the Tully storyline, what was the point?

There seems so much to cover still, looks like next week is all battle though!

RedMapleLeaf I really hope it is not going the way of Lost and there is an end story planned out.

MustStopAndThinkBeforePosting · 13/06/2016 19:28

Agree it was mostly a placemarking episode but a few good bits:

CUNT!

Ceiling shaking just before Dany enters and dragon silhouette flying away over her shoulder as she enters was a nice touch.

I loved the little wave goodbye between Jamie & Brienne.

But it was mostly pants, sadly. Particularly pissed off that Arya had no plan, Jaqen wasn't secretly protecting her, she really was as idiotic as she seemed last week. Could have been so clever.

EverySongbirdSays · 13/06/2016 19:31

I THINK (and correct me if I'm wrong)

That it wasn't an attack at all, and it was just Dany coming back with the Dothraki

?????

What do you think?

I demand a spin off with Pod and Bronn.

So relieved that the whole "I am so in love with Cersei" thing was just part of the trebuchet speech.

I hope Tommen dies this season.

BWB and the Hound! Yay! At the Wall! So Lem was not Rhaegar 's squire.

So will Varys find Yara or Euron? Dorne is not really a naval power. Or is he meeting Kevan.

TBH I fast forward the Mereen bits.

Braavos was so Terminator, you are right. I could literally hear Welcome to the Jungle as a soundtrack.

TheNorthRemembers · 13/06/2016 20:02

Jaqen seemed quite pleased at the end. That actor is so hot.

Snapespeare · 13/06/2016 20:11

Was SO waiting for Jaqen to peel hs face off at the end.

Feel a bit flat, tbh.

TrionicLettuce · 13/06/2016 20:13

I actually really enjoyed the episode and not just because the Hound got his cock out on screen

Although Cleganebowl appears to be off I still reckon the Hound might end up killing the Mountain. I thought it was quite interesting that in the same episode where the trial by combat is effectively cancelled we saw both of them showcasing their killing skills..........

Pixa · 13/06/2016 20:18

Olennas, I'm hoping Gendry comes back to help make dragon glass weapons. Grin

CaitAgusMadra · 13/06/2016 20:29

Nice theory - Dothraki in the ships. Never even occurred to me... But why bomb the hell out of her own city?

NamelessEnsign · 13/06/2016 20:50

Ooh I have just caught up Grin.

I'm ambivalent about Arya's storyline as it has taken so bloody long to resolve. But it feels a bit like there is a 'good wins out in the end' arc whereby the Stark family end up somehow in power/influencing the throne. Arya's story is a bit like Martin toying with the Hero with a Thousand Faces trope - it's a classic journey, but the hero is a young girl so it's still vaguely subversive. I reckon Arya is going to be a deus ex machina for Westeros somehow and move things along there, for which she needs secret exotic other-world skills. Jaqen looked pleased so must somehow have been guiding Arya to this, surely? Or maybe the Waif pissed him off too.

I fangirled a lot at Jaime today. He's hot. And possibly loves Brienne. Speaking of Brienne, she's been feminised as a character quite a lot this season, don't you think?

YES to the Hound and his cock Grin.

No idea what's going on in Mereen though. I'm kind of glad that the dragons don't get rolled out to burn stuff on a regular basis. Presumably that needs to be fresh for the end game.

There's a whole 'underdog wins the day' thing going on these days - Arya, Tyrion, Sansa, Jon, and the hateful characters have all been taken down a peg or two to be more likeable (Jaime's hand, Cersei's walk of shame, the Hound).

I think Ramsey must be on his way out though because he's still a total knobjockey!

MaterofDragons · 13/06/2016 20:52

I agree that the house of b&w has served to train arya to fight for her own house when she returns. Didn't need to be 2 seasons long though.

I'm not sure why the dothraki would fire bomb meeren, if indeed it was them.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 13/06/2016 20:56

Well, I liked that. Liked the Arya story and the Hound bits. Daenyrys can sod off though - how can a woman with four dragons be so bloody tedious?

There are too many storylines to keep going in one hour episodes. Where are Sam and Gilly? What is Ramsay doing? Where's Benjen taken Bran?

Do you reckon the last episode might feature Jon, Sansa, Bran and Rickon back at Winterfell, Arya on her way there and then just when it all looks good Dany turns up on a dragon?

TheNorthRemembers · 13/06/2016 21:20

How did I miss the Hound's cock? Have to rewatch.
I was too caught up in Jaime's eyes. What else did I miss?

How did Bronn know about Jaime wanting to get together with Brienne? Was Jaime indiscreet or is Bronn going to be Hyle Hunt in the show (and marry Brienne when Jaime inevitably conks it and leaves Brienne holding their baby - it is not a spoiler, just pure speculation).

EverySongbirdSays · 13/06/2016 21:24

I missed Hound Cock too Confused

EverySongbirdSays · 13/06/2016 21:27

I'm also a bit concerned about Davos in next weeks trailer. What's that about? Looks to me like he's walking away from disaster.... Shock

OP posts:
Rowanhart · 13/06/2016 21:30

Cersei never learns does she. Shot her best chance by showing off to early.

I'm convinced Jamie will kill her though. Just still figuring out what it is she'll do to finally finish it for him. Maybe she orders him to kill Tommen and he realises she's not who he thought.

Convinced was going to be big Lady Stoneheart reveal. No.

But do think going to end up with Brothers without Banners joining Sansa and Jon's army at request of The Hound.

Benjen will also appear with more reinforcements

As will Knights of Vale.

Oh and they'll lose. Sansa and Jon will go on run to Khalisi. Arya will kill Ramsey Bolton next series.
