Ah makes sense.

Must admit I was pissed off when she died in the show, I thought it could have been a great plot device - is there/isn't there a baby stark?

The trouble is, now it can't be in the show, it makes you think even if baby stark does turn up in the book, his plot line won't come to anything...unless they are going completely different, but pretty sure GRRM has said that the 'end game' is the same.

In a way, I wish they'd just said look, we're ahead of the books and now are going to totally fuck off the book storylines. (Although of course, we don't know we haven't yet do we)

Any news of WoW release date? Last reading was that it would be around the time of the release of the new series but doesn't look like it now obvs.

TheNorthRemembers · 19/06/2016 17:58

8dayweek The Hound fled their home when the Mountain killed their father, and offered his services to the Lannisters, so it is possible he was in the house guard. Plus he said to Arya" I meant to take her too. I should have. I should have fucked her bloody and ripped her heart out before leaving her for that dwarf." This sounds like a reference to what happened to Tysha.

The Westerlings are bannermen of House Lannister. Robb got injured when they raided the Lannister goldmines. Tywin definitely knew Sybil Spicer (Mommy Westerling) in person.

I think I read reasonably fast, but 13 hours might not be enough for me. [hangs head in shame] Unless I leave family temporarily and check into a hotel.

EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 18:27

Yeah, I doubt I'll do it that fast this time either. The logistics of discussing a book without wrecking it for others is more complicated though.

Clash - I have every hope as I said to North via PM of a SURPRISE BITCH! publication date announcement after the finale next week.

Taking pregnant Talisa to the Red Wedding was really stupid though. A massive "fuck you" to the Freys, who he still wanted to fight for him.

NeedACleverNN · 19/06/2016 19:01

Why are people mentioning Jeyne?

She doesn't exist in the tv program does she?

EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 19:05

I can't remember how we got on the topic tbh!

Does it matter that much that we are talking about a character that only exists in the books?

OP posts:
EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 19:08

Oh Queen mentioned her first as an example of fan theories that didn't pan out

Again, we do talk book and WOIAF on this thread a fair bit, does it matter?

OP posts:
pyrowall · 19/06/2016 19:20

It doesn't particularly bother me that you talk about the books, but...

I would prefer it that we stuck to the episode as I've only read the first book so I'm way behind and need to read it again!

But don't let me stop you!

Trills · 19/06/2016 19:29

Two Jeynes in the books, neither of them exist in the show.

EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 19:31

It's been highlighted that it puts some people off the thread, only I don't really want to "police" that we ONLY talk about the show here as the 2 link in and out and book explanations have often been helpful answers on here to questions from show only posters

OP posts:
RJnomore1 · 19/06/2016 19:35

I've not read the books yet but I find it helpful to hear about them - as long as you say it's the books as I'm easily confused!

AliceInHinterland · 19/06/2016 19:54

I miss the days when us book readers could sit and watch smug in the knowledge that we knew (mostly) what was going to happen. So what we do is clutch at straws trying to find clues so that we still have some superiority over you series only people. That is why we are so keen for a new book to come out - and I don't think it's a straight up one book = one series so hopefully we will regain some advantage.
I will be lucky to read it in 13 days - I'll have to give up mumsnet for a bit but I love the idea that you lot will be here waiting for me to talk about it.

ClashCityRocker · 19/06/2016 19:58

I've read the books and watched the series and I get confused RJ!

I suspect it will become a bigger issue next series when WOW is actually out..at the minute, bar a handful of character swaps prior to this series the book and series was quite faithful - apart from certain storylines being dropped or postponed...

I will try and be a bit more circumspect but I think that as a good deal of discussion on these threads centres on fan theory it's almost impossible to know what's 'giving background' and what's potentially 'spoiling' for those who haven't read the books. Would something like this help?

POTENTIAL BOOK SPOILER ALERT

Does anyone think

WeDoNotSow · 19/06/2016 20:03

Maybe we can start a book thread?

WeDoNotSow · 19/06/2016 20:04

Where we can discuss book and show?
And have the episode threads for that epi only?!

EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 20:10

We'll definitely have a separate book thread for TWOW but I personally like the way that are chats go off on all tangents. It's more natural that way. As regards that character Clash I don't think they are doing it we can PM about it if you want

OP posts:
AliceInHinterland · 19/06/2016 20:10

It's just a general chit chat here though isn't it? Show purists are welcome to set up camp elsewhere and use lots of UPPER CASE in their own title warning us pseudo-intellectuals off. But I can't imagine much fan theory being based on the books alone (as every pointed out, you're not actually proper fans).

AliceInHinterland · 19/06/2016 20:12

Books = series

AliceInHinterland · 19/06/2016 20:12

But I defo want a book only thread so might be a bit hypocritical.

pyrowall · 19/06/2016 20:14

Well that's put me in my place!

AliceInHinterland · 19/06/2016 20:17

Ah pyro I was only teasing. I'm just getting twitchy about the Battle of the Bastards. Seriously though, I wouldn't be able to remember what I'd read and what I'd seen so I would be ruled out of any TV only thread.

AliceInHinterland · 19/06/2016 20:18

I would like to re-read - do we have book threads for the existing books?

QueenOfThorns · 19/06/2016 20:20

Sorry if people thought I derailed the thread a little - I'm just excited to have people to discuss these theories with!

To return briefly to the derailment, I agree with Clash - even if Robbspawn exists, it can hardly be important now. And to answer your very subtly worded question, I suspect not, which would have similar implications to the above, wouldn't it?

ClashCityRocker · 19/06/2016 20:22

Ooh will do when I'm not on mobile every

How long is tonight's episode? Just thinking if i go to bed at 9.30 and wake up at 2am, watch the episode and go to sleep straight away, how fucked will I be for work tomorrow? Up at 6,.30.

Really desperate to see it, and we are out tomorrow evening p! Bad planning.

pyrowall · 19/06/2016 20:30

It 60 mins from what I know but I don't know what that relates to in TV time as I see it on NOW TV with no adverts

You think you've planned badly clash I won't be able to do my normal 5.15am Monday start the day of the final as I'm graduating that day and staying in a hotel the night before!

Well...i'll prob try and stream it via the hotel Internet but I bed the bandwidth is rubbish.
